Staredit Network -> Games -> whats better LT or fastest?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Shadowed on 2005-01-05 at 05:56:05
this is to clean up what i've recently been saying to my friends, LT i personely think is a more gosu map while fastest is a hack to make SC easyer, the choice is yours but please know that LT was much more harder to make and alot more time in it, fastest has no features like good terrain as LT does, choose right tongue.gif

you can send me private message if you want cool1.gif

both have very different stats

and one more thing
decent melee players play more on LT/other
and you have a higher chanse to meet a laggy n00b on a fastest map, espetialy in a 4v4
i might say 1v1 fastest is quite w00t.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Shadowed on 2005-01-05 at 08:49:47
yes w00t.gif

but also, people turn to fastest cos it a easy map, no real skill is in it, LT you got the ramp, expo's and even 2 islands! fastest is boaring, you can exp unless you go into anouther base and theres no islands, n00b map = fastest LT = gosu players but i've heard the some gosu players been playing fastest... i dont really think there gosu cos gosu players are like machines and like all machines they like to have a nice envioment fastest is just a slab of terrain and mineral and gas, LT has really cool terrain features, so if you ask me... LT should win the poll but fatsest should get a few votes

P.S i'm w00t.gif lol (joke)

P.S.S a good marine is a dead one

fastest map sucks, but LT can get old. I say Blizzard Melee maps > FPM

LT is awesome it's the best Ladder map there is!
Fatest is good when you just want to relax and have a crazy 4v4 with wierd strats.

I just used the one made by Blizzard, deleted the original minerals that were at the main bases and I put the fastest minerals.

LT is by no means the best melee map, just the most popular and well known. I would say Nostalgia is a better map, much more balanced
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lisk on 2005-01-05 at 13:49:59
any map that has big open lands and no cliffs/walls is good -_- (terrans die)

I say you cant really compare maps because each map has it's own gameplay.

fastest for me, when i used to play melee games of course, i don't spend much time on sc now, i'm sort of busy...but still fastest all the way!

no that is not true, it is nowhere near, it is a very well balanced map but not nearly the best. as for the question, Lost temple is a regular melee map which is very well balanced and requires a lot of skill. Fastest is a hacked melee map which basically changes the rules of the game from micro and strategy to mass production and macro. They are two different breeds of maps and gaming. think of them as two different rpgs if you will, but Lost temple is far harder to make and a much more challeging form of gaming. much unlike the fastest maps which are mainly used as comp stomp maps nowdays. almost every fastest game i see is a 7v1 comp stomp.

I don't play LT much even though it is very popular. Personally I hate Fastest maps. I used to like them because I though it was so cool that you can mine fomr one spot and the peon units don't have to "move" (meaning move from minerals to mineral gathering building).

Later it got boring and I haven't played them in a long time. If Fastest maps had more terrain or maybe less minerals stacked so you need to expand it might be a bit more fun.

Chose LT.

I will play any WGT/WCG/PGT Map. I won't play newb money maps.

Im surprised theres not more FASTEST OWNS type of people. Then they start to argue how it's more skill then other maps.. etc.. etc..

I'm personally sick of LT, but i never get tired of playing Fastest w00t.gif

I would say LT because of a bad memory of FPM. Once I was zerg and he was too and he build a creep colony on my creep and I could do nothing! Then He sunkened it but it was already too late, I lost my hatchery....dang those sneaky FPM regulars...but I would say there are many maps out there that are just as good as LT, but they just aren't very popular.

Well there are a ton of awsome Non-money maps.
All the Money maps are pretty much the same.
I would get tired of the money maps first --;

well i like LT better, more fun in my opinion.
more strategies and more things to do. you also need to expand.

im not gonna say fastest map possible sucks(i hate it but oh well) but its a map for someone who cant react fast or is just plain slow. its a map for someone who likes to relax and just build up and attack. fastest map possible is boring in my opinion. all the players do is mass a unit. and stay in their base

Well, that's your typical $$ map player. They do that stuff all the time but if you play the game enough times, you'll get use to it and can handle or even avoid those situations.

LOTS of maps made by blizzard and us battle.neters are awesome, even better than LT. It's stupid how no one that plays melee want to try something new. So selfish and stubborn.

Yea, but like i mentioned above, people are too stupid to actually try playing something else.

LT and fastest map possible require different strategies. Both take different skill in order to master. It's just that most SC people "grew up" with the way of LT. If it was the other way around, we'd be thinking games like LT are skilless and just.... different. It's a psychological thing. They both do require much skill but since we learned to play with non money maps first, we set that as the standard and thing that any other games that use different tactics are just skilless and different.

I think everyone has gone through a money map phase...i sure have =-p. But it does get old. But so does LT. When I played melee I would just choose a map i coulnd't remember anything about because it is really fun when you are exploring a map for the first time. I think so at least =D.

Lost Temple - it is most playeble map, but it have little disbalance
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ChampionHunter on 2005-01-06 at 08:01:48
There really is no best map, but if I had to definately pick a best one, i'd go with LT. LT requires thinking, thinking is good.. but as everyone else is saying, for you lazy ones, fastest is the way to go. Fastest does require skill, most people just don't realise it. Macro is a skill in itself as well as micro. Macro isn't just 'I am leet cause i can mass on hydras smile.gif' its about using units to help cover each others weaknesses, for example, lings and hydras go very well together like peas and carrots(old saying, sorry)

Yea, everyone needs to do that. Play maps and do real exploring.

That's why it's like the most popular non money map. People ruin it by playing it too much

You're exactly right. Lost Temple is a good map and requires thinking when it comes to dealing with enemy actions but sometimes if you're too familiar with the terrain, you memorize everything about it. Starting locations, resources, expansion sites, cliffs, and all that. One of the most important elements to any melee game is exploring i think.
