I am curently about to try and make a map with apc's(i have created my own method which i have yet to test). I have seen this done before on locked maps.
I was wondering, if i make a trigger disable the doodad "state?" of a tank at location X , the tank will go invisible and move wierd and still shoot, like on some tower def maps... then, can i re-enable the tank to drive off again(this way the player can cloak when a patrol of powerful enemies comes by) or will i have to remove it and replace it really quickly(by centering a location on it)?

I am of course speaking of the normal siege tank. can a person disable the edmund duke one too?

also can someone elaborate on th existing cloak units trigger? as i have not actually seen the trigger i am jsut guessing based on a few things i've heard and seen.

I don't think you can reenable a tank. BUT try giving it to another player then back, that might work. (tell me if it does)

If all else fails you can always remove it and create a new one.

I could make it so cloaking heals a players tank, but the player cant move it for XX seconds. then replace it with another tank on the same spot with full hp.

I will try it, gota start the map first tongue.gif

I've never had it lose it's cloakingy after changing players, but mayeb changing it to an extended player and back would help, I don't know.

I will try it, but I believe that this method does not work on tanks. I'll try it out tonight if I can.

This seems like the best option. Are you wanting it to cloak, be unable to move, or both. If you just specifiaclly want it to not move at a certain time, you can have a location follow it when it leaves the location and make it patrol to that location all the time when you want it to stay still. But I am guessing you are wanting it cloaked?

edit: Just changed some spelling errors and I used invincibility instead of cloaked. I didn't really do much editing though, I'm sure it's stiill screwed up a bit =\

If you would like it REALLY cloaked:

First you have to make a computer player that you have vision with. Then consantly center a location on any Seige tank (Seige mode). When Player X brings one Seige mode tank to Location "Center on tanks" remove all Seige Mode tank for player X - Create 1 seige tank tank mode at location X, disable tank for current player. Create 1 observer for player "Vision" wait 5, kill all observer for player "Vision."

Note: Must not vision yourself. So unvision yourself via triggers.



For a half-cloaked tank:

Same as above just don't make an observer and don't turn off vision for yourself.

well mainly the idea is that the tank is an apc and your moving through a base, but if u get weakened and overwhelmed by baddies(Zerglings) you can cloak, and when it uncloaks its at 100%.

ADDITION:
I successfully disabled the tank whenever i wanted to, but i could not reneable it, even when i was not looking the game crashed, so this suits me just fine, i will remove it and replace it, this way i wont need a healing trigger, and the only downside is players must re hotkey, sound ok?

would it be best to use a hyper trigger for this, as i intend to remove, NOT kill the tank?

Hmm soz bout bump, just want this to be seperate.

I have a move trigger for the apc, 1 for marine, and im gonig to do one for all the other units, could i just do move all units. and then have another trigger "Never,move(teleport) siege tank tank mode from X to anywhere?"

also i am fully aware that the tank its only cloaked and that it cant move.
Giving it to player 2 and then back did not uncloak it.

I've been wondering about a few of these myself, actually... I think the best option would be Zerg's suggestion, at the bottom of the post.
