Hey all, i'm trying to make a map with starforge, the frame is done but i actually have probs with the trigger making. I know how to do it with the usual staredit but this is completly different. Do i have to type all the trigger by myself? I tried to open the help screen with starforge but it don't open. Mayby my starforge has a problem too... I have the Beta Test 2.1

Can someone try to help me?

Starforge is still not completly finnished. Some buttons don't work like the help one. Basically what you do is type in you action/condition then after it put a "(" then right in the variables using commas to separate it (p1,bring,atleast,1,anyunit,location) then you end it with ";" probably confusing right?

There is a tutorial on this. I'll see if I can find it.

Okay found it.

When i learned StarForge it really wasnt that hard, Just chose from the frame to the right and then add ( after it... Then it stands what you are going to write

The thing to know about triggering with starforge is that you dont have to type absolutely everything. You just type enough for what you want to be displayed in the right box and then use ( or , or ) to insert it. And if you dont understand what a trigger needs, then look at the top bar. It shows the conditions of the trigger.

And get Starforge 2.2, it fixes some stuff.

Ya... Starforge 2.1 messed up the mini map on my melee maps when I went to lock them. Starforge 2.2 doesn't do that. YOu can get it by clicking here!

StarForge triggering is waaay easier than it looks. Matter of fact, it can even more faster when doing mass triggers that are alike.

I've heard SF triggering is far more superior than SCXE's or any others, the only thing keeping me from continuing is the reliability of it.

The only thing preventing me from using it are the random error I get while doing it.

Go download and install everything except for the java runtime files and the mpq control from this page: http://www.staredit.net/index.php?dlcategory=24 . Also, if you have a previouse version of starforge, you must get rid of that version before you can install a more up-to-date version. If you don't, you will get errors.

From what i can tell like said above SF triggering is easier to do over and over(mass). with lots of the same, but if you dont know what you're doing i would sugest making the triggers in Xtra (not p12 mode) i say not player 12 incase you have units on the map. and make the triggers save and the move to SF. dont use your only copy of your map for this.

The up and downs of Sf trigger editor are, You cant make triggers with units that have stacked names! You have to type in all the data yourself. The some of the AI scripts have the same name. But on the other hand it is great for custom triggers, and making a long string of the same trigger just copy and paste. I like SF trigger editor for long triggers, and for ones that use custom players. But I use SCXE for most of the standerd triggers in my maps. And then go edit them in sf if need be. I also usually wait to the end to stack text.

You have to manully enter the triggers, That's why I use X-Tra editor so that I don't have to enter the Triggers manully, I use Starforge for the player colors, and other basic stuff. Also, downlaod Starforge 2.2 it's a little better, I don't get the glitches I use to have anymore!

You can then double click the name of the unit in the list to the right, it will put it in for you.

What AI Scripts? I think most of them were fixed with 2.2, but I haven't really looked at them.

SF is awesome. The only things that it screws up for me are sounds. I just finish the map, make a copy, fix the sounds in SCXE and stuff, use SCMimporter or w/e to put the sprites back in with the copy, and it works great. biggrin.gif

The AI scripts all have different names.

There are 3 scripts with the name "AI nuke here". And clicking there names works. But when you go to save the trigger that has stacked text it gives you and error.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-01-09 at 22:16:28
You ARE using the latest version, right? (2.2) I see only 1 AI script "AI nuke here".

Yeah the creator specifically said to uninstall before you install the next version.
