Usually they will make a psysical counter or mineral counter to make you level at the leader-board. It pretty much depends which method bests suits you.

To set your experienxe back to zero using the leaderborad you just use the action: Set to "X"

You can convert Leaderboard Kill Points into minerals.

And for modulcating leaderboards:

Trigger
Conditions:
¤ always
Actions:
¤ Show Leaderbaord 1
¤ Wait 2500
¤ Show Leaderboard II
¤ preserve

You don't ALWAYS have to use the kill score leaderboard. Its probably displaying razings score as exp and custom score as levels.

Trigger

get minerals

¤ Current Player
Conditions:
¤ Kill score is at least 50
Actions:
¤ Subtract 50 kill points from Current Player
¤ Add 5 ore to Current Player
¤ Preserve Trigger

That is a lot slower.

If i killed 3 zlings at once it would only calculate 1 of them.
Unless if u have hyper triggers?

Im not an expert but i think that is right
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-01-12 at 20:27:57
If you're not using hypers then you simple make a couple of those triggers but change the conditions and actions.

One that requires 50 kills score and gives 5 ore. One that requires 250 kills score and gives 25 ore. One that requires 500 kills score and gives 50 ore. And so on.

You can name the scoreboards.

There should also be another "topic" forum thingy on this too. It should also be in the tutorials.

Player:
Current Player

Condition:
Player kills a unit

Action:
Add score
Add mineral

(newb vers.)

StarmamJr posted how to gain minerals from kills and I'm 100% positive we have tutorials on how to do this. Why are you still asking?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-12 at 22:02:34
No, Starman spammed wothless outdated censored.gif . That method is the most noobish, and works like a n00b map. yes we have a tutorial: http://www.staredit.net/index.php?act=tuto...lls%20to%20Cash

DT, they are not flawed if you balance the map so that a Zergling isn't the hardest unit in a game and Kerrigan isn't the easiest.

And a matter of fact, that tutorials lists a method exactly like the one StarmanJr posted. Matter of fact, it was method 2. It also happens to be the most commonly used method in maps. And has been used in tons of great "RPG" maps and other kinds of maps like the Aeon maps.

I think it would be very "noobish" to say it isn't a very good method.

Whatever map I make I always make sure to balance out the units so that you get what you deserve from them in terms of kills and cash.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-12 at 22:16:29
But it is extremely limiting to HAVE to order your units in terms of kill score. You can use a unit-detection KTC method to scale your kills MUCH more efficiently. There is no true use for that outmoded KTC method.

Yes, ok. Let's force beginner level map makers making beginner level maps to do a very advanced and complicated method that takes hours to code.

KISS is a common term in making games. Keep it simple stupid.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-12 at 22:23:39
Then use they dead simple set-to-0 method and don't worry about scaling kills. That is simplest.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-01-12 at 22:28:37
That's even worse than the minerals per kill score method.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-12 at 23:29:15
In what way? it fairly accurately converts a kill to a set amount of minerals.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-01-12 at 23:31:04
Not without hypers.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-12 at 23:32:28
Hypers are dead simple, all you have to do is be told what they are. They can worry about stacking waits another day.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-01-12 at 23:35:39
Yes, lets have him complicate his map and then tell him to worry about the repercussions later.

Listen VanillaCoke, you can use whatever method you want. Just be sure you take the time to read that tutorial to learn how to do it right.

DT, I'm done posting here, this has been an excessively long and pointless debate over what set of triggers are better.

Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-12 at 23:36:38
Alright. This is my last word. I suppose that old method is the "simplest" but you can't get very far as a mapper without switching.
