Black sheep wall
Place a sieged tank on lower ground, and place a building or something that will die with one shot from the tank on higher ground. Make sure tank can reach it. If that certain unit killed (or not there) then make it end in defeat or whatever consequences you want. All these units must belong to warring computer players.

[Money Cheats]
You can prevent these only if there is a max amount of a certain resource. And you would know how to do this easily. Just make sure they can’t reach that amount without cheating.

Power overwhelming
Make 2 locations and make units continuously move from one of them to the other. Then make some units kill them as they march. Make it end in defeat if the unit manages to get to the other side. This means that the computer can’t damage each other so it can get to the other side alive.

Medieval Man
Make a dark archon without feedback to stay in an area and wait for it to feedback another darkarchon (considering it can kill the other one with one feedback). If the other archon dies then end in defeat.

The Gathering
Make a dark archon with 0% energy wait to feedback an enemy (considering it can feedback and can kill the other one with it) and when that enemy dies make it end in defeat. You can still use this in conjunction with medieval man anti-cheat cause you can use reverse computer players.

Note that these are only some of the cheats. There are other ways to make these work also so these aren't the only ways.

UNTESTED:

The following may or may not be accurate...

Modify the Phase Variance and Something for Nothing can probably be stopped, but I have not tested it yet. The idea behind Modify the Phase Variance is to perhaps run an AI script and prevent a computer from building a building that is required to go up the techtree. If the player cheats, the Computer can build the one higher in the techtree and you can immediately tell he cheated. The idea behind Something for Nothing is at a corner to keep giving a unit to an enemy (probably a spell caster), so if the enemy gets hold of the unit with the mana capacity upgrade, he can cast a spell he could not previously cast because its cost would be greater than 200 mana. And to make sure it can cast the spell, set the mana to 100%. Food for thought might be stoppable by preventing the construction of supply giving material and running an AIscript. When the computer can create that extra worker, then the player cheated.

Who cares. If they're playing it in single player its not important anyway. Let them cheat for all I care.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yoshi da Sniper on 2004-01-02 at 13:20:48
Chu's right. If people cheat in Single, it wont effect anyone else since its not multiplayer.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-01-02 at 15:45:30
Yes, but it allows them o look at the map and see the secrets and crap. Thus, they're still cheating on multi-player with their CHEATED knowledge.

Could proof the cheat "Staying Alive" which could make the players stay alive even after they triggered one of those anti-cheating triggers.

Say your using the Black Sheep Wall one, but before they typed in "Black Sheep Wall" they put in staying alive, then when they did trigger the black sheep wall anti-cheat, they could continue playing, but make the power overwhelming end say, player 8 in defeat also, and you could say.

(Any of the human controlled players)

CONDITIONS:
Player 8 controls exactly 0 any unit.

ACTION:
(Insert text here)
End Scenerio in defeat for current Player.

Donno if the triggers still work after the comps die, but this is what I think anyway....

Still... they should get banned for typing "Black Sheep Wall" before they finish "STaying Alive". As for typing Staying Alive first... have it be a multi-player only map. No single player AT ALL. Works, doesn't it? If they use single player, they can use mods to cheat, so those protections won't mean crap.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-02 at 16:46:34
Well you could..but you never know whats gonna be in the mod

"But you never know what's going to be in the mod."
What does that mean?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-02 at 16:49:33
You could protect say from increasing a certain units range/sight but that might not be in there.

1. who the hell would make a mod to cheat on a singleplayer map?

2. why the hell would someone wanna make an 'only singleplayer' map?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SpaceBoy2000 on 2004-01-02 at 23:32:16
Well, for campaign reasons, people usually put in ncheat protection.

To get around staying alive, add an Independent CC somewhere on the map. When a cheat is detected, just create a map revealer at the Independent CC's location. Center the player view on it and preserve trigger. There, the game crashes.

Want something even more fail safe? Create a Player 14+ unit that will crash the game. There, all done!

Honestly, if they want to kill the fun of the map then let them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SpaceBoy2000 on 2004-01-03 at 01:38:44
Well, I guess it depends what type of map maker you are. Some people want to keep Campaign secrets (like special Easter eggs for "good" people) secrets. Single maps though usually don't have cheating protection though.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-03 at 03:11:41
I guess, that is people want to cheat... Let them wallow in their sorrow...

They will realize that cheating takes a tool on their skill and (if they have any desire to be better) will quit...

Btw, Orc...Is that hilary duff?

PM me some "special" pics...I know you have them. happy.gif

Well.. I guess you're right about that... ALL STOP THE CHEATERS AND H4X0RS!!!!111
Well I have something better... Moose tell them about player 69 @.@

" p69 - Opens once in StarEdit and plays normally. After that, map goes corrupt. Plays error (unit unplacable) sound, then crashes. "

How would that stop cheating and hacking? Just having the unit there crashes the game.

No player 69 is just the most evil crash that's all... and you forgot it also freezes the game and doesn't just 'crash'.

Why is that? Other than freezing?

Moose, you are slow!

One problem, how do we do the Independent CC protection if there's no place on the map that can't be accessible by air? How would we implement it then?

Or what if there are air transports, so there are no "key" places to put the Independent CC? Are there any ways around it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-03 at 15:09:16
Well i know a way to stop all cheats (not hacks) in a map... just put a trigger like starship troops mission 6.1 , just mod it a little like you need player 2 just for 20 games seconds and make that you start with player 1 so if u enter single player u wont be able to cheat but in multiplayer you change slot and become player two...
isnt that easier that make like 10 non-cheat triggers???

Thnx for your time

What? Explain in detail, and maybe some actual triggers with conditions and actions laid out for us. I don't get what you mean. Perhaps even a test map to show us.

Anyways, I think that it's hacks that should be of concern, not cheat. Who cares what you do in single player?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-01-03 at 15:23:08
If they play it single player, they can find out secrets and crap.
I think what he means, is kinda like this:
Conditions:
-Force 1(humans) brings exactly 1 any unit to lactions 'anywhere where units exist for all human players'
Actions-
-End Scenario in Defeat for Current Player
That way, if there's only ONE unit at the location, when in multiplayer eveyone has one, you get banned. I doubt you'll type "staying alive" before the cheat kicks you.

Hmm.. im not so sure about that. Thats probably what You think and some other people.

And this probably only appiles to Rpg and Defense maps. I don't see much help cheating during game play there is no fun in it then. I have a friend who loves cheating and even when he does try to cheat, hes an extremely slow typer.

Thats a good revenge for cheaters except it'll include people who would just play fair.
