Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Junk Yard Dawg "Roam" AI Script

Whenever I use this script all the units I order to wander seem to want to go into the centre of the location that I made to order them to use the script...

Any thoughts?

That has never done that with me. My suggestion:

Make a "test map". In it put a few men for the computer and a location surrounding them. Then add the trigger:

Always

Run AI JYD.
Preserve trigger.

Go test the map. Do they still do it?

Uhh, well, are you using computers that aren't junk yard dog? I think... that the ai order junk yard dog only lasts a few seconds...

It lasts until the unit is attacked, in which case it fights back. Otherwise, they can go on forever.

Never did that to me. Whenever I use JunkYard dog in an Rp or something, they roam for maybe a few seconds then stop. Unless it's an Rp where Junkyard Dog comp and Norm Comp are differernt players.

Well then, find me a Critter that stops moving by itself, because they're on the Junkyard Dog AI. And I haven't seen that before. xP

The units will randomly move about ON THE LOCATION...And as I hope you know, the computer will roam about the location focusing in the middle becuase some programming made the middle of the location the middle point is where a unit stops moving. If you 'order' a zergling to a location it will move to the MIDDLE of that location, not the edges. So a computer will do it with other commands for it given to move. Do you get what I'm saying? It's pretty basic...

Hmm, I could think of a few interesting effects by having two layer of locations and have them fire off junkyard dog at random intervals to truely make the units wander, since the units will no longer concentrate on just one location.

To make that work you would have to move the locations away from the units to stop them or else get them to fight units quickly. Otherwise they wouldn't stop.

A fun trick is to make units stop and move at randoms moments by having hte location constantly moving around the map. smile.gif
