Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Using an AI script again in a different location?

Is is possible to use an AI script over again in a different location for a computer player that already used the script.

For example running the ai script 'terran expansion custom level' for a computer player at 'location a' then later on in the game running the same script for the same computer player at 'location b'

Would this restart the script for the computer player? confused.gif

It will restart the AI script and may mess up some of the computers current units (mainly peons). However, it might work fine if you have the computer starting over again with fresh set of new buildings, etc. I haven't tested it, though.

Yes, restarting the computer with new units is what I had in mind. It's for a type of endurance map.

Well then test to see if it works. Just start one normally, then 1 minute into the game remove all their units, create all the units needed, and run the script again.

If you see all peons mining, and you see it following the normal build order then it has worked.

Apparently I can't use another location... The comp sends many units back to the old location lol

I assume it must work, if you look at the StarCraft Campaign maps by Blizzard, they have AI scripts running at different locations. I suppose it just depends which one you use, I bet two conflicting scripts would mess it up, but if use the Campaign maps as a kind of guide to learn the scripts, it could work fine. I'll try to find the link for you if you don't have the maps extracted.

original campaigns
brood war campaigns

edit: fixed my links.

The script that I am using is the same script that is used for computer players in Melee games and not the campaign scripts.

I don't want to run two scripts at the same time. I just want to try to reset the script in a different location and I tried, but it did not truly reset because the computer was sending his units to the old location.

I know campaign scripts can run in separate locations at once, but that is not really what I am looking for. thnx anyway cool1.gif

Yes I have all the campaign maps extracted lol

try using the ai script "Clear Battle data" or something like that one... It is in the "run ai script at location" and it is almost at the very bottom of that list, if you know what I am talking about...

That's neat, is that what that script does? I never knew what it was for.

lol your welcome... although I have never used that AI script so I don't know if there are ways to stop it from running...

Aww, I was hoping clear previous combat data would clear all the terrain of building rubble...

No, I beleve the only thing that can affect that is waiting for the rubble to disappear.

I WISH. I wish there was a way I could do that with death sprites.
