I can't make the stats for the units equal to what the units are worth. I need some help.

Is anyone willing to help?

Map Name: Maze Tag Mole Vs. Farmer

Map description: the map is mole hunt but with cat&mouse elements (ie. the farmer can be killed and you can buy units according to how many colonies[dirt] you have killed if you are a mole, if you are a farmer however you will get civs depending on the time aswell as how many moles you've caught)

I really really need someone on board with me on this, I can take care of all the triggers and landscaping but I can't manage the stats.

http://www.battle.net/scc/

There you can find indept descriptions of all normal melee units in SC. That site is the best thing you could use when trying to balance a map.

They don't give you exact number though. What are you looking for? Unit speeds? Kill point values? What?

The way he worded his post, it sounds as if he already knows the unit's kill point values and it trying to balance units based off of that. If you go to the site I posted, you will be able to find stuff like cooldown, speed, vision range, size, attack type, attack range, basically all the things you can't change in a unit and can't find out about in any of the map editors available to the public.

The information at that site is plenty enough to go about balancing all units he could ever need balanced.

yeah, but it wouldn't offer exact values for unit speed and attack rate.

I don't need any of that I just want them to be worth what they cost.

(ie. ok say a marine was 2 dollars and he has HP:70 Dmg:10 and jim raynor was 4 dollars with HP:110 Dmg:20) I need the units to be made according to what they are worth.

I think I am getting the hang of it though.

Yeah I will come back for more help if I need it, but as of earlier I figured the way to do it was one unit at a time. I am going to decide how fast I want individual units to kill the other units and I will base their trigger costs upon that.

Just out of curiousity and lazyness of making a new thread, is there a map for brood war that is similar or exactly like Maul for wc3? I always liked that map but my wc3 cd was corrupted in a few places, or at least told me it was.

If you are in fact trying to balance units, then you should always take into consideration the statistics about them that you cannot change.

Isn't that what the slew of defenses is sort of like? Though I haven't seen on in the exact layout as WMTD.

I already have basic knowledge of the stats I can't change. Now I wouldn't be able to tell you the exact values or anything like that but I know who is faster than who.(atking and moving) To some extent.

And I'm saying I could post the exact values.

Then what do you need help with? If you already have the basic stats and changeable stats, you should be able to calculate a cost for each unit that is fair to all.

Use this damage calculator to figure out if this unit has this stats fights another unit with some other stats, who will win with how much hp left. Then balance the cost of the units accordingly.

You already have a fair calculated cost, too (SC default). All you have to do is change the cost proportional to the change in stats. Or multiply the cost by some number to scale it.

You all don't understand so I am going to disregard all of your posts.
