Sup mr. voidarchon.
Well. looking at this, this will be a "micro strategy/strategic unit usage" map ... at least from what I read... From what the other people have said, I sadly must also admit that it is a little bland. You basicly described what each unit can do normally =P, and that isn't good.
QUOTE
Armored Tank : (Seige Tank)
» Heavy attack based unit, has option to transform into stationary heavy cannon.
Engineer : (SCV)
» Very little attack, can build Infantry Fortifications, Stationary AA guns, and can repair vehicles and buildings.
» Stationary AA Gun : Has the power of radar; can detect nearby land mines, and attack airborne units.
» Infantry Fortification : Basic bunker which can hold up to 4 small units.
» When you own at least 1 turret, you gain 1 comsat station (radar) for good actuall radar use.
Screacher : (Vulture)
» Fast bike, normal attack, and has the power to lay at most 3 land mines.
Mercenaries : (Marine, Medic, Ghost, Firebat)
» Main attack units, decent attack...best used in groups.
F11 Hawk : (Wraith)
» Fast war plane with decent attack, has the power to render itself invivible to human eyes.
Dropship : (Dropship)
» Airborne unit, has the power to drop some items, or even drop a Bomb to damage enemy (and allied) units in the bombs range.
» Some items will be items that heal your units.
The units basicly do what you explained. There is nothing else added... and all of these things have been done before in different maps. If you said something like the wraith shoots scourge missles or something, or the tanks spawned a guardian over it when it is sieged and a devourer when unsieged, then that would be extremely fun and extremely challenging to create strategies that would work...
When creating a map like this, you shouldn't be able to describe all the strategies involved... it should be a map where you could create multiple different strategies from different units and combinations of units. And possibly having different branches for each type of unit. Such as upgrading the units regularly OR upgrading the units' special abilities like in my wraith shooting scourge thing, you could add an upgrade that allows the wraith to shoot bigger missles like mutas or corsairs.
Like in my defense map. "Trigger_Defense"
The enemies come from 4 different corners of the map. What sets aside my defense from other defenses, is that you can choose how you want to defend. Would you rather use brute force to defend your area? or use Trigger intensive units? In my defense you can choose a "Projectile" defender. This defender can either be brute force (which is simply upgrading his regular attributes 'attack'), or trigger intensive which consists of him using a targeter which fires when moved further then his current range and this targeter can be upgraded in size of the explosion, rate of the fire, amount of ammo per clip, and the type of explosion...
Hope that helps.
