Ok, i've been gathering idea's from maps i've seen and some from what i've made up. And i chose to put it all into some semi-small team war map.

NOTE :
If some idea's are from something you suggested and or have in the making, i'm sorry.

You start off in an area that which you have the choice of different units to use in combat, ranging from stationary to airborne units.
[NOTE : Unit names may change]

COMBAT UNITS:
Current Units : (more units might be added to roster)

  • Armored Tank : (Seige Tank)
      » Heavy attack based unit, has option to transform into stationary heavy cannon.

  • Engineer : (SCV)
      » Very little attack, can build Infantry Fortifications, Stationary AA guns, and can repair vehicles and buildings.
        » Stationary AA Gun : Has the power of radar; can detect nearby land mines, and attack airborne units.
        » Infantry Fortification : Basic bunker which can hold up to 4 small units.
          » When you own at least 1 turret, you gain 1 comsat station (radar) for good actuall radar use.

  • Screacher : (Vulture)
      » Fast bike, normal attack, and has the power to lay at most 3 land mines.

  • Mercenaries : (Marine, Medic, Ghost, Firebat)
      » Main attack units, decent attack...best used in groups.

  • F11 Hawk : (Wraith)
      » Fast war plane with decent attack, has the power to render itself invivible to human eyes.

  • Dropship : (Dropship)
      » Airborne unit, has the power to drop some items, or even drop a Bomb to damage enemy (and allied) units in the bombs range.
        » Some items will be items that heal your units.

Once you've selected your unit(s), they are taken to your teams base. On from there you must engage in combat to destroy your rivals base.

STRATEGY:

Use your units and you must use strategy to overcome the enemy, such as:

  • Stationary AA Gun to take out air units, and detect Land Mines and Cloaked Units.
  • Dropship bomb can destroy Stationary AA guns, but you'll need to work together because it will kill you pretty quick.
  • Stationary AA Gun to detect Land Mines, so your units can kill them.
  • Transform Armored Tank into a Stationary Ranged Tank to hit enemy by far.
  • Engineer can repair base buildings and machine based units, for further combat.
  • Screacher can quickly get up to a Armored Tank, so the tank can't strike it.
  • Ghosts and F11 Hawks to cloak and rip apart enemies out of radar range.
  • Engineer build Infantry Fortifications to protect at most 4 mercenary units from attack.
  • Lots more strategies to use...

When your unit died you are brought back to selection area about 10 seconds later, so you can continue on the battle.

MAP INFORMATION:

Teams : 2
Map Dimension : 96x96
Human Players : 6
Computer Players : 2

This post will be edited occasianally,

Thanks.

Although it should be interesting, it looks pretty bland. You might want to add some of the following:

- Interactive Arenas:
* Close/Open Door Switches
* Activate Turrets
* Radar to See Map
* Item Spawn Points
- Health Pack Restores Energy
- Energy Pack Refills Energy
* Teleporters

- Units
* Upgrades
- Hero unit after X Minerals
- Minerals recieved by kills or by protecting energy bases / capture points in the field
- 2 Units at a time, you can hybird them to get something different
* Specials?
- Wraith could drop napalm, long burning fire that sets ground unit hps to 1%
- Vulture could drop oil slowing you, [burrowed unit under you]
- Mercinaries could have flash bangs that blind you randomly

- Moral
* Depending on how your team is doing in the field, you have a group moral
* This sets your starting hp to x% whenever you spawn
* Kills/Deaths Raise/Lower Moral
* Capturing capture points or Destroying Energy Bases affects moral
* Etc, Etc

WOW. I was really bored. It seems like you want to keep it short and sweet, but it seems to team fortres like- so I thought I would brainstorm for fun. Good Luck ermm.gif

Hmmmm...some are pretty good ideas; I have no point for the door switches, but the Item Placement and i was thinking of having it create a radar (comsat) in your base once at least 1 turret is built by you. No need for teleporters. Also health packs and such are also dropped by the Dropship just like Bombs are. I see no point in Upgrades because once someone it like 10+ and everyone else is like 1+ they'll get bored and leave. I can do good with the capturing certain parts of the map, and you gain minerals and such from killing so you can build turrets and repair units and stuff. I don't think i'll need hero's, but i have no use for the Moral suggestions.

Thanks for some good suggestions i'll update main post soon.

At first, I thought the map was going to be based from the movie called "The Speicalist" Lol, how stuipid of me, I like the ideas. I mostly like the name for the Marines, Medics, Ghosts, and firebats, Mecrenaries, you don't see that in games. You only see that name in RPs.

Sup mr. voidarchon.

Well. looking at this, this will be a "micro strategy/strategic unit usage" map ... at least from what I read... From what the other people have said, I sadly must also admit that it is a little bland. You basicly described what each unit can do normally =P, and that isn't good.

The units basicly do what you explained. There is nothing else added... and all of these things have been done before in different maps. If you said something like the wraith shoots scourge missles or something, or the tanks spawned a guardian over it when it is sieged and a devourer when unsieged, then that would be extremely fun and extremely challenging to create strategies that would work...

When creating a map like this, you shouldn't be able to describe all the strategies involved... it should be a map where you could create multiple different strategies from different units and combinations of units. And possibly having different branches for each type of unit. Such as upgrading the units regularly OR upgrading the units' special abilities like in my wraith shooting scourge thing, you could add an upgrade that allows the wraith to shoot bigger missles like mutas or corsairs.

Like in my defense map. "Trigger_Defense"
The enemies come from 4 different corners of the map. What sets aside my defense from other defenses, is that you can choose how you want to defend. Would you rather use brute force to defend your area? or use Trigger intensive units? In my defense you can choose a "Projectile" defender. This defender can either be brute force (which is simply upgrading his regular attributes 'attack'), or trigger intensive which consists of him using a targeter which fires when moved further then his current range and this targeter can be upgraded in size of the explosion, rate of the fire, amount of ammo per clip, and the type of explosion...

Hope that helps.

I'm not trying to mke this the most advanced map that you can make, it's just going to be a basic strategy/team map, but i can add some of what you said... disgust.gif
