im trying to use the mpq sounds in sf which is something i have never even expiremented with but they seem to not work for me...
here is what i have done so far
uploaded a mpq wav then went into the triggers section and told it to play after a certain condition however while in a game it will not play the wav, it should play over the top of any sound right?
and im changing my mapmakersetting to average because im not a fully rounded mapmaker obviously

Which sound was it? The ones in the STARCRAFT and BROODWAR folders will require that those respective CDs are in the drive.
thanks i had the sound for starcraft and not for broodwar i think
humm the sound im trying to use is under stardat is that effected by the disk?
stardat is the original starcraft MPQ file, so yeh, you need the original sc in there. Broodat is the Brood War MPQ file
well then time to dl scsounds
Im pretty sure that scsounds has the same requirements, so you would need the disk
Actually, Stardat is one of the MPQs Starcraft installs onto your computer. It's always there as long as you have Starcraft properly installed.
sc sounds gives u the actual sound files that you add to your map and makes the map bigger. so it works but i havent gotten everysound i want to work to work.
Basic sounsd like bullet sounds and eath sounds and normal unit speech should always work. Only thing slike Campaigns and stuff that's only on one disc will not play on the other. If you are using something like a transmission, or music, or normal unit speech, it should work. What sounds are you trying to use?
Not exactly sure. But I think you there was a pack of SC sounds you could get somewhere. If you can't get the MPQs to work, then try getting those.

Uploaded? You don't upload mpq wavs, that defeats the whole purpose.

No it doesn't.
I'm surprized no one asked you this yet but what is the path name you used for your wav?
I was about to say that. You should also use an MPQ viewer to take a look at the MPQ file and find out the path of the sound.
There is also the very simple solution..check your conditions. If you did everything that everyone said to do in this topic..and it STILL doesn't work.. make sure the trigger is at least FIRING.
With MPQ sounds you need to take it from the ones that play when you click on them. If they dont play in the Wav Table screen, then it wont play in game. One thing that got me for a while is that the sound only plays for the people that the trigger is designated for. So if the computer player owns the trigger, then you have to give it to the human players you want it to play for. And yes it does play over all other sounds.
im trying to use the building explosion sounds and when i click on them they do play but in the game ive only been able to get the seigetank seige mode fire to play so it fires plus there are other actions which i know fire...sc sounds extracts the files onto your computer so u can add them just like any other wav file...therefore i didnt need to use the starforge but the path is exactly what starforge sets it too.
When all else fails:
ATTACH THE MAP.
id rather not upload an unprotected version of this map because its original and people might take it for granted but after i have released it i will probably have an editable version that i will personally hand out
Well if after reading all our posts you still cant get it to work, send it to a moderator and ask for their assisstance and then post saying that you have done that.
This is SEN, you can trust most of the people here are not going to steal your map and will respect the fact you came up with an original idea and implemented it into a map.
I haven't done much testing of the "free sounds" stuff in starforge, and last I tried it was a bit glitchy. If you want to use something that DOES work (and works with SE), use SC Free Sounds, but read the instructions carefully.
Just for reference:
STARCRAFT - sounds from starcraft installation CD, requires that CD to play
BROODWAR - sounds from broodwar installation CD, requires that CD to play
stardat - sounds from stardat.mpq, should always work
broodat - sounds from broodat.mpq, should work if you have broodwar installed
