Guys, i need help with Wav's, i have had X-tra editor for along time, and suddenly i tried opening a Wav file onto one of my maps, and it said ''(Gibrish) This file cannot be open, make sure the File is writeable'' Alot of my wav's are doing that now, does anyone know why??

Are you sure it was a WAV. file? Starcraft can only read those kinds of files. And can you actually post what the error says?

It means you saved it in Starforge when you had wavs in. SF likes to corrupt the strings for the sounds, but theres a way to fix it:

Open your map with WinMPQ. Delete the file named (listfile). Reopen in Xtra and hit save. It should all work then.

Unfortanately, you will have to do that everytime you get that problem. Or, you could just live with it (it saves regardless of the error).

I suggest you finish all you need to with starforge, then use xtra for the rest of making the map. One could always do sounds last too.

I suggest you do everything you need to in X-tra, then Starforge, then finish up with sounds and stuff in SCMDraft 2. SCMD2 works great with sounds.

As the list file gets bigger so does the map. So you could keep making the listfile bigger. But when your done do what Yoshi said and there you are with a map thats not huge.

I actually had this problem as well,
and the way I fixed it, was I put the sounds in my SC folder, and it worked fine, not sure why... but it did work, and it still does for ME, but then again I'm on Windows Prehistoric so....... It could jus' be my pathetic computer, either way hope you get your problem fixed.
