I'm assuming that Freelancer (game by MS, sequel to Starlancer, addictive to some but crap to others) has a random name-generation technique that combines a first name and a last name to form a unique name. The game also uses a different set of choices depending on which one of the four colonies you are in, to create names native to that colony: Liberty->American, Bretonia->British, Kusari->Japanese, Rhineland->German. I'm not completely sure if Liberty and Bretonia uses the same name sets, since Brits and Yankees share the same names on Earth anyway. To explain the picture attached: I found an interesting name combination that isn't so unique. I think this topic rides a thin line (though three planes only intersect in a point, not a line... never mind) in between Garbage, Creative Works, and Games but... Games is the only one that gives minerals.

Oh well, enjoy.

RE4 soooooooooo bad! I've beaten all the other RE's and im more of a RE fan then halo. I didnt think halo 2 wasnt that good though but neather was the no zombies in RE4. Still theres a merchant and more weapons and upgrades. I like using the TMP or my ugraded pistol on RE4 though
ADDITION:
Im not saying Halo's stupied im just saying RE4 is better to me
OMG! That is so damn funny! LOL LOL LOL! George Bush flying a spaceship! LOL! I think freelancer is cool, I play it online sometimes, but you'll know me if you encounter me. Just look for the server with somebody on it!
"RE"? Are you in the right topic?
StarEditron, personally I don't play FL online much because of my poor connection. However I do have a personal favorite server, topfreelancers.net (their website is
http://www.topfreelancers.net , go figure), which supports a mod they created for use on the server. Freelancer's not exactly the best FPS shooter game, but lots of people online use it for roleplay instead.

where on the site can you download it?
Freelancer is a full version game; you'd have to buy it (12 bucks on Amazon).
The site I gave contains the mod I was talking about, and some other FL-related stuff, in the Download section... if that's what you meant.
Otherwise, there's a demo for FL on download.com; just search for it.
hmm interesting. couple of questions. 1) how old is it? 2) is it for mac 3) sounds like a good game if people are still playen it and it's that cheap
Its release was March 4th 2004, it's NOT for Macs (though I've heard of a similar game, Escape Nova), and #3 there isn't really a question but, yes, with star wars and star trek ship mods, there's a LOT of people playing the game just for the RP part.
Ah, I have this game...it was fun until I got to this mission where whenever I got enough money for the next level it always lowers buy itself so it's impossible to get past it. And I never knew that that's how they came up witht he names.. but George Bush is funny...

Maybe your ship was hurt or something, it'll make your value go down. Get a mission from the Bar and see if that gives you the boost you need.

Never experienced it myself, dunno if it's a bug or something...
is freelancer open ended? i downloaded the demo a while back, and thought it was pretty good, but not good enough to buy. didnt seem open ended enough. i would have prefered it if you could have interacted more on teh planets, but w/e. it was still ok.
The advertisements for it are that it's a world where "you make the decisions". However, there is a major unbalance in that you make a lot more money doing missions (and the missions are all "Kill Whoever", with little variations) than trading, the latter which takes a LOT more time if you want to make a profit.
The box which the CD came in listed 4 jobs: Hero, Pirate, Merchant, and Smuggler. Basically, Hero just means you take jobs, Pirate means you attack Merchants for their stuff and sell them, Merchants just waste their time trying to make a profit, and Smugglers buy outlawed Artifacts and Cardamine (drugs) and sell them, virtually the same as Merchants other than the fact that the Police will open fire on you when they find you're carrying contraband. If the police are unfriendly with you, that makes you unable to enter their bases, which is every planet that you can sell those contrabands and make a profit.
The box also advertised "over 20 different ships", but obviously the first ship you can buy has less than 1% the potential of ones you can buy later as the game progresses.
But if you try to work it out, it's pretty hard to make a good game that includes major improvements. However, considering how Microsoft is behind Freelancer, one would expect better. Or would he ò.ô ...
so... uh... what is the game?
Adventure/Action/FPS/Roleplay, almost everything you do is shoot things in space, but nevertheless it's still quite addictive.
can you post me a link to where i can download the demo?
