Some information just so you understand. I'm on a Mac and so therefore can only use StarEdit Emerald type programs for map making. (MPQ Patches over StarEdit / SC)
I have only gotten the Scanner Sweep unit to work in one instance and that is when it is placed on the map as a unit in the editor. It will scan right when the game starts. I have been unable to use triggers to create a Scanner Sweep unit. "Create Unit at X Location" will not do anything.
Another thing is that if I have a Comsat Station and I scan somewhere the "Bring Scan Sweep to X Location" will not register with Starcraft if I scanned in that location.
Any ideas for the first thing? I didn't expect the second thing to work anyway.
I am pretty sure you cannot create scanner sweeps. ANd it will probably fullfill the requirements for Bring scanner sweep to location.
You cannot detect it's location and you cannot create one with triggers.
You can, however, detect a scanner sweep and remove it in the same way you remove map revealers.

I guess the next best thing is having a Missile Turret located near the cloaked units.

Edit: Wtf? Negative one participation?
lol i was gonig to post about that...yes wdf?
hm...-1 participation...i wonder if it has special previlages?
You must REALLY suck to get that ;).
This is just an idea to get a location over a scanner sweep:
Always
Give all Any unit "Big location where you scan" to player 8.
Always
Center location "1x1 thang" on any unit owned by player 8.
if only u could use scm draft, starforge, or scxe

, i know, getta pc

I, too, am on Mac, and proud of it.
Preplaced Scanner sweep units aren't effected by triggers, as far as I can tell., and StarEdit's extended units cannot be created with a trigger. Extended units are the ones that aren't place-able with the default editor.

I wonder if this could be changed through some MPQ editing?
No. It is built into SC Engine (I believe.)
I'm pretty sure you can create for a human/computer then give the unit to an extended player.
wasnt it the other way around? extended to players?
Yeah, I think it was. Test it to be sure, but I'm pretty sure you can't give to an extended player.

How did Yoshi give units from Player 1 to Player 12 in his Matrix map then?
you can give back and forth to extended players, but the colors won't change.
Player 12 isn't exactly an extended player...
Yeah dude, player 13+ are what we have dubbed as extended players. It makes it easier to talk about them in different context.

ya i had the same problem as this scanner sweep thing except i wanted zerg larva. Triggers wont
work to move em/ create them. I too am on a mac but i prefer starfire edit to emerald edit.

Dude, could you please stop adding those lines in your posts? They are annoying and add un-earned minerals when you spam them. Sorry if I'm sounding a bit harsh, but I think it needed to be said.
