Sure here it is..

I wonder if we could put in that water temple doodade and make it seem above water. so you can swim up to it and enter it, that would look cool.

f you take something and fly it over the ocean, its going to have a shadow. and all this talk about "it was pirate kings" idea is annoying because this is triggamasters idea and he made it better. would zerg units look bad as fish?

I assumed he was going for a look where the CC was floating. Thus, if there is a shadow it doesn't look like its floating. But if it wasn't meant to have a floating look, then I suppose it is allright. smile.gif

This idea is actually in the sprite tutorial! This is a map i made late last year, sometime last october as an idea map before I got to work on an rpg that never finished.

Heres the map, pretty simple. I was planning to make the RPG based on this concept but it never really worked out (Its the map Oni-Sei was saying Khaoskreator showed him. Attached map is not the RPG but the one w/ the screens.

Edit: Still want to show off screenies of a horrible, horrible terrain and map. tongue.gif

that doesnt really give a feeling of being underwater though. you need doodads to set the feeling of being underwater first.

Hey trigga... how do pylon aura sprites work.. do you just place them at a specific point and the big blue pylon aura appears?

Of course it doesn't, that was a concept map, not an actual map. tongue.gif I was really tired that night and I guess I have already forgotten my reason for posting that in the first place.

EDIT: HAPPY 500 POST!! cool.gif

You look in the sprites section and there will be a "pylon aura". Then you just place it.
It looks like a quarter of a circle in the editor though.

To be more specific on that, the sprite section is protoss>> then its in protoss Extra.

Thanks Kaboom. I think triggamasta misunderstood what I meant by the "underwater" and "overwater".

Triggamasta, could you make an island (high temple), such that the pylon sprite aura doesn't go onto the high temple, but on the high dirt and normal dirt by careful placement? Then, you can use ramps on cliffs to attach them together, so then you can "surface" onto a man-made island, and also have varying depths of ocean floor. (Use isometric terrain style, not square terrain)

Hmm.. come to think of it... wouldn't twilight be a good terrain for an underwater map, because it has so many varying depths?

I understood, and i just told you where that sprites was, incase you couldn't find it tongue.gif.

But yea twilight would be good.

Thanks for telling me tongue.gif

Ya, I think twilight would work the best considering its already blue happy.gif

The problem with twilight is there's no concept of dry ground, since the tileset is almost all blueish. You'd have to achieve some affect to make a dry ground appearence, vs. achieving the effect of underwater in other tilesets with the pylon aura.

Good eye tux! I completely missed that problem! Hmm.. it could have the storyline be like that a humongous flood hit the shores of *bla*, so it would make sense that the high ground is blue, because you're walking in water, but not fully underwater, so you don't need sprites smile.gif

I still think something's wrong that LegacyWeapon has 25 Karma but you only have 11. blink.gif

Karma doesn't mean much to me. I don't do much to please people nowdays as I used to.

Hey, you know when you place the sprites, they come out as a quarter circle? Do they come out as a full circle in starcraft?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TRiGGaMaSTa on 2005-03-09 at 10:33:59
Yes they do. That confused me to the first time i used em.
