Here is something I started. it would make a great rpg with submarines and underwater bases (such as lifted buildings). If anyone used this or takes the rpg idea please give me credit.

This really isin't too terrainish. Just a few doodads on the floor with pylon aura sprites. Anyways looks a bit cool, although I have seen this before.

Dude. Make an underwater waterfall. People are bound to love that. wink.gif

On a serious note, it looks pretty good for what the environment confines it to. I mean, I guess you could make some interesting underwater trenches or coral reef formations, but otherwise any "underwater terrain" would just be scattered crap on Dirt tile and a lot of blue.

And also, qPK's RPG 'Deep Blue' has this same concept of underwater terrain, so credit wouldn't be given to you as the idea wasn't yours.

Take a look at the Terrain Hall of Fame and you'll see this idea is already done.

i would like to point out that if your under water you have to be slower

(Khaos Kreator showed me a map with an under water area like this like 2 months ago)

also you need to work on it so it dosent look sloppy i can see some spots that look sloppy where the pylon is overlaped and looks bad

And doesn't an immense amount of sprites sometimes lag the game? Would this count for the Pylon Aura as well?

It looks cool, but one thing that really bugs my eyes is that I (as any vigilant SC player does) constantly switch between the mini-map and the main screen. The problem is that the main screen is blue, but the mini-map looks like normal dirt terrain!!! Agh I'm having a seizure! crazy.gif

What if they already have it in black map and they pushed tab again?

Plus that's just Pylon Auro, I made that in my incomplete map called Cats & Mice in teh fog

How can you get credit? Pirate has alredy made an underwater Cave way better then yours... He uses creep as the bottem because it looks like its a little messed up and such...

PS: Its seems good if this is your first try... Keep up the good work

Yeah, he brought it a little farther though. I think the only thing wrong with pirate's was the huge amount of sprites.

OMG, this is like a spam thread, everyone is just saying Qpirateking did it better or he did this already. Therefore I am locking this thread, but just so you know, I already knew he made it but he never made it an ocean or lake or open water area.. It was just a shallow water cave.

Anyhow this started with my sprite movement concept in the concept forum. so i figured it should just post it over here.

EDIT: um, how do i lock this? may a moderator please lock it if everyone just says i'm copying Qpirate.

Hey trigga... could you modify your map such that the pylon aura sprites don't go to high dirt or high temple, giving it a "man-made island" and multiple layers of ocean floor? That would be neat! biggrin.gif

i like this better than qpirate kings. q's was just dirt but this looks like it has coral and other things. try using roaming scarabs for fishies!

ya that part looks better but the ashworld sprites in qp's just gave it a more "underwater" feeling, which actually looked more like coral...

Actually the scarab idea has been done as well. I remember the first time I ever saw this idea (and I think qPirate did it) was with a sample map that showed some underwater cave with a bunch of scarabs roaming around.

And the Command Center is a nice idea, but its shadow screws it up.

I'm not going to lock this considering it doesnt look like you still want it locked.

I will say qPirateKing did it first and I'm pretty sure you've seen his stuff before. But that doesn't matter. You took it to another level with the doodads and such in there. It looks very good.

if you take something and fly it over the ocean, its going to have a shadow. and all this talk about "it was pirate kings" idea is annoying because this is triggamasters idea and he made it better. would zerg units look bad as fish?
