Maybe in the Other forums, you can make a Sports and Music forum, that or add those to the Gaming forum, because sometimes i want to talk about sports, but get confused where to put it, and then i just give up, same thing with music, like when a CD comes out etc

Heh when I read the minerals abuse clicking thing I got an idea. You could have like daily riddles that describe a certain link or place on SEN, and if you click the link you "hidden minerals" like in nick.com. Also inspired by nick.com you could have SC trading cards  biggrin.gif  It could be like a new game. You buy packs of cards with minerals and there are rares ones and stuff. And people can trade with them.

Er... that can be abused once again. Once everyone knows it it'll be pointless.

I don't see how making more forums will do anything to help our goal for map making... more = harder to manage.

What about trading cards *collectibles*?

It seems rather pointless... cards have no value sad.gif

This will only be for the DLDB Administration section so not many people will be able to see the effects.

When approving files, there is always that file/map that is so bad or corrupted that you have to delete. I'd like it if, when I press the delete button I get a screen showing me what to do after I delete it. (In a very similar way for when we Warn people in the Forums).
I could automatically send a PM or e-mail to the person from that screen without havnig to open another one. I could also have Automatically generated messages for the more common errors like corruption.

It could be like this:

I delete a file and the Deletion Confirmation appears and I click Yes.
Then the screen like the warn thing appears and I have a big box for me to write text. I also have the option of sending the person a PM, E-mail or both.
Below this will be the Frequent errors buttons which can be chanegd by anyone with DLDB access tot he DLDB.

I could then label one of those buttons Map Corrupted and write a message that will already go with the button. Then when I get a corrupted map, I'll just click the button and it will automatically send that message with which I wrote with.

Yes, please, and do all that stuff. DLDB panels are pain in the ass right now. I just manually PM when i delete happy.gif

My only suggestion would make the damn edit function in the DLDB work.
[right][snapback]169608[/snapback][/right]

Edit funtion doesn't work??? How so?

Copyright issues aside, we should have SEN magic cards tongue.gif I could make them w00t.gif

Maybe bring back those random map making tips? I actually liked those.
And about my points thing, it's not too big of a deal. I didn't even credit myself on the actual thing. I didn't plan to either. Credit doesn't matter to me after making maps for so long (Kinda grows on you tongue.gif).

But then again, IP was right, he could do the whole thing in about thirty minutes. Whereas it's taken me over a week. And I'm not even done.

Not that big of a deal to me, just wanna help happy.gif.

Just read the topic again...so...Thanks Moose. But I don't think it's bias either. (mellow.gif)
Becuase I talk to Yoshi a lot (Well, you might talk to him more wink.gif) and he's telling me how much he's doing, yet IP is doing a lot too. Also, IP tells me they disagree on certain aspects of v5. So with three people, there are the possibilities of less things getting done becuase of arguments. Plus I don't know that much PHP. I'm just learning certain things. Yoshi and IP helped me with the tough stuff of the clan script anyways.

But like I said .. I just want to help. Maybe DLDB keeper or something if you need it biggrin.gif.

[EDIT] As much as I'd like to 'work' for SEN, I doubt it will happen in the near future.

Please no more DLDB Keepers, it's the worst thing you can be right now.
The more DLDB Keepers there are, the more you say to yourself:

"Ach, I'll leave those files to be aproved by another DLDB Keeper"

And trust me, you don't want to find 30 files waiting to eb aproved one day. It took me 3 hours today. We already have 5 DLDB Keepers and we are managing just fine. Once I start getting my act into gear no one will have anything to do in the DLDB because I'll be doing most of it since I don't like files to keep waiting.

The best you could do is support us. Maybe Moderator of the "Other" forums would do for now since Camo and Aster left.

Mike: Since you will be doing the DLDB, I'll get to you on MSN to discuss these things. First I need to think of some more things.

There will be 7 day mineral log thing. It will tell you EVERYTHING that happened to your mineral count.

Well, I don't know about this suggestion... It seems quite complicated on how to implement it. Anyways, when you make a post in the map making assistance forum, the thread you made will be searched for keywords. For example, if your searching for kills to cash, then you would get a link to the tutorial(s) involved. You then get the option of finishing creating the thread, or canceling the thread. If you canceled it, your mineral count will be the same. It's as if you never even went to post the thread. If you chose to finish creating the thread, it will be like creating a thread the same way it is now. An example of this is the help yahoo provides ( http://help.yahoo.com/ ) (Note: I don't know if this would be useful, but how about adding a description of the tutorials in this view? It would look something like this: [attachmentid=6659]
(Note, I made this in microsoft access. Here is the compressed version of it: [attachmentid=6660]
The thing you are looking for is in the forms... because that's what it is, it's a form.)

Why is this useful? Well, I could see people quite asking for the links to tutorials. With this system, hopefully most people would quit asking for them.

[right][snapback]169924[/snapback][/right]

Why do I have a feeling members will get made at the person that reset their mineral count, just like a member being able to see his warn log and who give him/her a higher warn level? Although it will be nice to have this feature, I don't think it's a very good idea for a member to be able to access it.

ADDITION:
I hope you can understand my post.

We're already planning a search upon submittion thing for tutorials DB.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SA_Max71 on 2005-03-22 at 08:00:28
Apparently my point wasn't understood... you would be able to see related links for a post before you make it based on what you put into the post.

It'll be easier just to place a big ol' search bar on top of the forum or something.
Trying to guess at what the author is asking for would be a bit annoying to posters.

Another DLDB Admin Feature.

Similar Files Search

When Aproving a file, it takes sometime to check if that file has been submited before. Why not do this:
When you go to the file aproval page there will be a column(like the one about who submited it) labeled Similar Files. It'll either show Yes or No. The No link, won't work since there are no files to go to. Yes will bring up all similar files for the DLDB Keeper to check if they are the same one. Since .php can't check the file itself for similarity, it will need to be done by the name of the file.

Give tutorial manager the ability to make sections to place Tutorials in. We really need a Tips and Tricks section where there are tricks that won't help you make your map so much as to make it look better or have cool effects in it.

We don't want to see extra post screens all the time... we'll do one for new topics in assistance forum and thats it.

I just started learning HTML the other day and I noticed that BBcodes and HTML are very similar.

Maybe implement the more complex HTML codes into the BBCodes that we will be using.

For now I was thinking of these.
<pre></pre>
<hr=width%>

I don't knwo much about HTML but I'm pretty sure I'd like the <pre> one which enables me to use more than 1 space consecutively.

As I keep learning more and more HTML, I'll see which ones would be more suited toward becoming a BBCode.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yoshi da Sniper on 2005-03-22 at 19:06:42
Using more than one space will additionally mean that the text between the [pre] tags will not count for minerals. You really want that?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yenku on 2005-03-22 at 19:24:39
Rexy, i also liked the map making tips, i think you should make it an option to have that every screen or not, and maybe add melee map making tips as well.

Heres some reinforcement: Yoshi+Isolated, Thank you guys so muc hfor what you are doing. Sen 5.0 sounds awesome i cant wait for it to come out. Keep up the hard work.

i will try and think of some more things over the next few days and post them.

ADDITION:
Oh yea, i think you should just take out zerg pets unless like 2+ people want it. I dont think many people use it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-03-22 at 19:25:32
I don't mind.
I'll only use [pre] tags for when I'm drawing a picture or something in text like this:

...../...../ The idea would be not to have so many dots which would be
..../...../. representing spaces. Minerals aren't really that improtant anyways.
.../...../..
../...../...
./...../....
/...../.....

I also think that <a href="#A section of the post">Go to Top of Post</a> Would be sueful especially for Tutorials. This is Navigating within a Webapage in thsi case it's post.
