Besides using Uberation or PROEdit, what else can you do?

I guess I just SEEM like a newb since I don't post around SEN very often. I've been here since SEN v3 (my usernumber is under 1000!), I just don't talk much. mellow.gif

Fans: a sequel mapper's most important source of motivation.

I was going to let the project die (off to camp in 1 week), but now I'll hurry to get the Zerg side finished ASAP!

1 person can make all the difference cry.gif biggrin.gif (tears of joy).

Here's the, um, official Zerg demo. tongue.gif

It's very short, with no upgrades or Overlord respawning, but the basic skeleton works. I think the balancing needs some improvements. Feedback/suggestions are welcome.

ADD: Note that Race selection is done in the, well, Race selection option in the Join Game screen; right now, only the Zergs can be used.

Very nice idea. If this works out like it shows and everything, it'll stay on b-net for a long time, until wos 4 comes out. and where do i get wos 1 &2? pinch.gif

Well, what I liked about WoS1 was that you were a normal marine, fighting with other normal marines. It gave you the sense that you COULD die. And, I think I remmember it being no respawns. Well that gave you the sense that you COULD die and you had ONE life to live. In my opinion, it was immersive.

Thanks, that was the feeling I tried to create. However, it will only apply to Terran and Protoss, since Zerg units would die WAY too quickly (it's kinda the whole point for their units: fight to the death, or die trying tongue.gif). I have done my research, and the Zerg ladder goes through a Cerebrate before reaching the Overlord. Thus I would modify the game in one of two ways: replace the Overmind with a Cerebrate, or the Overlord with a Cerebrate. I have decided against the ladder since being a Cerebrate will make the player too vulnerable, and saving the Overmind should be good for a sequel too.

Heh, I remember playing World of Starcraft 1. I think I even played it with you (you probably dont remember closedeyes.gif ). I was Terran and you had to go kill Zerg or something, and it was like a squad.... I can't remember :/

But this sounds better...

Blah, I lied, I can't finish the Zergs by the time I leave (Sunday). I was waiting for feedback on the brief demo I posted (and have posted below), and I waited, and I waited. And nothing happened. sad.gif

i LOVED the first one but it was hard to play with anyone else because everyone else is like i shall take on the base with a scv... stupid UMS players

but after you get a hero bc and nuked a couple bases you get board

one thing that would make this absolutly rock is being able to give commands to other units e.x.

when terron after lvl up once you could tell 2 marine units to "follow you" or "attack with me" or "hold pos" and it would '
Trigger
Players:
¤ Current player
¤ Players
Conditions:
¤ if Player bring 1 unit to attack with me
Actions:
¤ tell at least 2 marines to attack to location Player

that could make huge battles between two players lateron in the game imagine seeing a player as a hero lot with 20 lots running towards a hero rine with 30 rines behind him

this could easily take place of the commander idea possibly even takeing over buildings momentarlty

cheers i have been waiting for this forever

yea only a little couldnt get anyone to play with

also some fixing in the first zerg spawning place because when you get 12 hydros then one of them always gets stuck and you have to attack it with lings confused.gif or else it doesnt do any damage

if you need a beta tester i would be happy to do it

WOS1... it was pretty embarrassing, the mission briefing said the Terran side was just a demo, you're supposed to have Zergs and Protoss as well.

Should I call this WoS1 instead? ermm.gif

After reading alot of your ideas i'll have say this would have be best verion of WoS i seen so far. Because others lacked in ways, while this one makes up for it. With the different styles for each race making it more enjoyable. Not same old boring stuff for each race. But i like see what some spells are for races as well many thing things. Terrain may need work but sure you will do that near end. Even you have admit this is better version of your series so far. WoS 1 = failure. WoS 2 = Was nice but still was lacking. Hey lucky 3 makes up for it ^_^ Good luck pcfredz.

i dont really see how WoS 1 failed it was WAY different than almost any rpg on Bnet cause you do have one fragile life to live, and because of that you feel good when you are able to kill a building..
one thing that was the most annoying thing was the move camera to location
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-07-20 at 20:05:00
Well i Like WoS alot! I spent hours on single playing playing it! i maniged to learn every skill and i took out one of the zerg bases! and then my computer got reformated and i lost the save! i havent started again since then! This sounds good! and with the Commander idea (i skipped page 2 so this might be said) I say that if you are commander the computer should controll the army but you make base defenses and make the army? it could be strange creating a army then watching them mass for 2 min then attacking! just think about the stuff you could do!

Even if you dont know what i mean PCFredz will Failed in ways it wasnt ment to fail. At first was confusing way he explained stuff in text which we told him about. But other then that i guess you have play all WoS read the topics or even talk to PCFredz know how it failed n so on.

Both WoS1 and WoS2 had a "Level Up" system that had requirements displayed right next to the unit selections, which I explicitly said in instructions displayed (in the case of WoS2, displayed if the Subtitles were on), but it was apparently hard for people to understand English.

The RPG sounds awesome.
That would be cool if differant races had advanteges agaisnt other races.
(Example: Protoss is good against Zerg.)
(Zerg is good against Terran.)
(Terran is good against Protoss.)

Good luck with your map.

With spartan's
"Protoss is good against Zerg."
"Zerg is good against Terran."
"Terran is good against Protoss."

I think it should be:
Protoss has strong defence against Terran with strong offence against Zerg!
Zerg has good offence against against Terran and Protoss with weak defence!
Terran has strong offence against Zerg (firebats) and medium defence against all!

See? it makes it like Spartans idea but instead of it being a circle it makes each race sound like the proper race!
