+Storyline
--Since WoS1's storyline was never finished and WoS2 never started, WoS3 will have a storyline completely unique to itself, which is... no storyline! The Zergs, Terrans and Protoss are all hostile toward each other, so it's an intergalactic FFA, with YOU as one of the warriors on one of the sides. Good luck, have fun, don't die.
--History: WoS1 was based on Marine Boot Camp (2 copies in the DL database, 1 under RPG and 1 under Others), WoS2's title ("The Nomads") came from my Gobal Studies class, the intention was that the Zergs were roaming across the universe in search of resources very much like the nomadic people of the paleolithic period. WoS2's innovative "Command" option that added an RTS twist to it came from Savage, in which you could enter the Command Center and take command of the town. WoS3, this current project, could be considered a remake of WoS1, since everything I'll have in here are what I initially intended to put into WoS1. Obviously, seeing how WoS1 only has the Terran side, it wasn't even 1/3 complete.

+Interface
--As previously stated, Races are User Selectable in Join Game screen.

--Zerg
---You are an Overlord serving the Overmind. You control a constantly replenishing Brood of Zerg minions to kill anyone in the Overmind's path, increasing your Minerals, used in upgrades, and Reputation, used in adding to your Brood. However, you must use your Brood carefully, because of the fact that Zerg units are weaker than the Terran or Protoss individually. Your own physical self can move, but remember that if your own body is destroyed, the Overmind can recreate you, but at a price of Reputation and Minerals.
---Your "leveling up" consists of gaining more units, new units, more new units, and so forth, which are bought as permanent upgrades using Reputation points. Upgrades to attack, armor, etc. are bought with Minerals.
---To Be Revised & Completed

--Terran
---You are an unarmed Civilian. You earn Trainings in various Firearms, robotic Vehicles, and Ships. These will earn you more Money when you kill enemies of humankind. At any point in training you may decide to Hero a unit in which you finished training in, which receives the benefit of increasing health as you gain levels from Experience. If you ever fall in combat, you will be resucitated at the main base, but lose all your Experience and, if you're a Hero, all your Minerals as well.
---Each Training includes the following steps: meeting the Requirements for a unit; selecting the unit; using the unit to gain experiences until a specific point has been reached; the Training is completed, opening up new units needing that Requirement, and opening up a Hero option, which enables you to "level up"; use the Hero version of the unit to receive incremented HP every level (but only for that unit), not to mention increased energy level for unit-level spells associated with that type of unit (e.g. +50 mana for Science Vessel).
---To Be Revised & Completed

--Protoss
---You are a newly trained Zealot summoned to the Protoss Temple. You gain minerals as you kill the foes of the Protoss, and you can spend them to be promoted in Rank when you have gained sufficient trainings, which means you can purchase better Robot units to help you in combat, such as an Observer or a Reaver. If ever you should fall in combat, you weill be recovered in a Dragoon. You can still gain minerals as a Dragoon, which can be used to resurrect you back to a Zealot or to purchase a Hero Dragoon suit, which can gain increasing health and Rank like other Heroes. However, the levels gained by a Hero Dragoon will not be retained the next time you die and purchase a Hero Dragoon suit.
---The Protoss is currently the only race that has a trigger-operated spell, which is Archon Morph. This spell can be used by either the High Templar or the Dark Templar, and transforms them to their respective Archon forms. However, if the Archon is not in a building or Shuttle, it consumes Mana per second. Mana is represented by gas. It increases by 12 per second (unless if in Archon form), has a max of 200, and 100 is the bare requirement to transform to Archon. When the Mana reaches zero, you will be reverted back to Templar form, or you could choose to do so yourself.
---To Be Revised & Completed

ADDITION:
For reference purposes, you can download WoS1 and WoS2. Note that only WoS1 is unprotected.

Ive never played WoS1 and 2. But this looks really cool. I dont know why the storyline would be unimportant, but, it looks good, and i like how what each race does is diferent and unique. An original map, good. Good luck on it, and finish it, or i'll kill you! happy.gif

The three gameplay styles (Zerg, Protoss, Terran) sound unique from each other and seem to fit that race rather well. I'm sorry if it's in there, but I didn't read how many players there were pinch.gif

If it's anything like WoS1 and 2, I'll surely be interested. Don't forget I'm always available for beta testing. tongue.gif

Good luck.

Yeah Voyager, I know, you're one of the few who appreciate my WoS... mainly because you're one of the few who played it. I should really work on advertising this project... happy.gif

If this is at least as good as a completed WoS2, it'll own. I've played one, it's mediocre, but it's kinda hard a bit. It was still fun though. WoS2 was fun too, but it was, not as cool though. tongue.gif I hope you can finish this.

Will this be like diplomacy style? where you manage minerals and micro. Plus, using stratgedys.

It sounds like it is, and if it isn't, hope it is.
I loved your WoS 1 even though it was only beta version, lol. I'm sure this one will be much better than other versions you released so far because it is so UNIQUe!

If you need beta tester, count me in~
GOOD LuCK !

One flaw in both WoS1 and WoS2 was the AI script. In WoS3, at the beginning of the game, I will use what Quest Open RPG had used, which is spawning units, ordering them to patrol, and removing them after they reach a patrol destination. I will modify this to order those spawned units to patrol through a long and twisting path, then charge the opposing side's fort/main base, which will serve the same effect as "removing them". happy.gif

Area Town will still be run so that the workers look busy, but the Mineral patches and Vespene geysers will be constantly refilled.

However, after a currently undecided imaginary point in the game, the computers will switch to the AI script and duke it out... the good old SC style. I think I figured out a way to stop an AI script from running, which is to give all the computer units to another player and back to them again, which worked in WoS2.

So here's the question: should I make WoS3 an RPG/RTS genre, in which the human player can choose to become Commander of the base (take control of the corresponding Computer's units) like that was implemented in WoS2? Or is that just a totally unnecessary distraction?

ADDITION:
Terrain of main map (excluding Inventory/Spells/Inside Buildings space) is finished, labels in original post edited to reflect changes.

I wouldn't mind, some people like being "commaders" so to say over heroes, since you seem more important. If it really enhances the map, then keep it. tongue.gif

No Ultimo, the commanders are in charge of the base and the computer-controlled army... they're not heros... at least that was how it worked in WoS2.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-05-29 at 15:36:29
I fear that a Commander in WoS3 might disrupt the whole gameplay, so I'm forgetting about that idea. WoS2 with the Command option was pretty sweet though.

ADD: Commanders on the Protoss and especially Zerg sides will also throw off the genuine SC feel. Whoever heard of an Overlord morphing into an Overmind? If a player wants the "Commander" feel, then just go on the Zerg side. It's close enough: command minions to do your biddings while you stay in the comforts and safety of your main Base!

That's what I said... Voyager7456.

That's fine, most people aren't commanders. The Zerg sounds pretty cool though. ^_^
Btw, if you plan on changing the stats, wouldn't you have to change the costs a bit to fit them? Since if your "AI" kicks in, some race may have an advantage over the other race.

Quick Question:

If I tried to use a Move To trigger with the To Location filled with men/buildings already, will the unit I'm trying to move still get moved? (A technicality question that I never really bothered to take note of, but will need to be answered in WoS3.)

Whoa, sounds cool.

I think it goes like this:

If there's no room for the unit at that location, it will not teleport the unit there. However, when there IS room at the location the unit will be teleported there.

At least that's what I've seen from my experience.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-05-29 at 20:39:27
Oy, that's what I feared.

I'll post the question in the MMA forum so people read it.

The unit will freeze in place, and no commands will be issued to it if it is being moved continually. If it is moved just once, then nothing will happen.

Also, in WoS 2, the arhon hero is unable to enter the enginering bay.
Details: I was player two, I had played it for 30 min - and hour, the enginering bay was in it's standered loaction. When I switched to a marine, I was able to enter it.

I hope WoS 3 will be more thoughly tested.

ADDITION:
wait, triggers 0%...
Maybe you shouldn't throw everything into WoS 3 until WoS 2 is finsihed.

I don't think that WoS2 ever got out of the beta stage... correct me if I'm wrong.

My computer was reformatted and the versions I have on SEN are protected.

I'll leave it at that. pinch.gif

This explains why there are bugs that never got fixed. I know one too: use a T-Port item. The Movefrom location should have been the World Map, not Anywhere. It's a pity, really, because WoS2 was going pretty good too. I know there are people here who can unprotect it for me (think LW offered me it before), but I'm very attached to WoS3 at the moment as well. Even I want to see how the Zergs will turn out to be. biggrin.gif

toot.gif Hi, if you need any help with the map maybe i could help Bcause i am good with triggers blushing.gif , but i suck at setting unit stats and stuff like this, i use SCMDRAFT to make maps, so I can do square tils and stuff like that I also use TrigEdit to make triggers, because it is the only plugin I could find and I have made a map (triggers and all) in 6 days using SCMDRAFT and TRIGEDIT drunk.gif it is called "ZOne COntrol EVolution" my online friends say that it is cool and I hope that it will be poopular in the future, though it has over 350 triggers and takes 10 minutes to DL lamo.gif , oh well, it is still pretty cool. And I am also making a map like the map the HOST is trying to create except you are TERRAN and U select a unit and play as that unit. chair.gif

psst, Shadow181, using excessive similes is rougly equivilent to yelling "Look at me! I'm a newb!".

I can help you compress you map so it takes less time to DL if you want...
