Just shut up. Live in america for 12 months and tell me what you think.
And so what if Bush say nucleer weapons, hes from Texas. Thats how all of them speak.  uberwoot.gif

Um...I've lived in America my entire life....And I still think our entire country is full of idiots....its not a stereotype, Im sorry to say, but rather, a fact. If you don't believe, then go ahead and try this:

1. Pick a good serious topic on SEN(other then this one).
2. Find a 5-10 random people wherever you live, that you DO NOT KNOW, and ask them about their opinions on that topic.
3. Record and compare their responses to the ones on this site.

Now, If we(the people of SEN) were to be considered above average(This is the overall score) on the scale of intelligence, then what would the people you talked to amount to?

Yea and i read some comic from a long long time ago which said that only like 2% of all americans can name the first 5 Amendments right off the top of their heads  closedeyes.gif

Challenge accepted, MilleniumArmy.

Amendment I

Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Amendment III

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Granted they would be speaking on the spot, to get the proper results for this, from a scientific point of veiw, would be to go on some patriotic site and post the same topics as on here.
Then again you would limit your audience to those highly patriotic members of our society.
Overall though, I think many people think other people are stupid. Not just America. Americans simply flaunt it.

I think SEN people overly observe people. And come to conclusions. What is being smart? KNowing every single detail of history? Or knowing how to do cal and pre cal? Those are just abilities people learn today. America is not an idiot country, do you know how hard it is to get a good job in this country? There is so much compition to accell. I have to say though that there is MANY MORE smart people in America now a days then before becuase A) There is more people living today in this country then before. But the percent of drop outs or 'dumb' people is greater then ever before.

Thats why gettting into an American college can be difficult becuase there are so many smart students all applying at roughly the same time. The biggest percent of dumb people would be inner city schools where kids care more about their hood and gang then they do about their school.

Out of curiosity, but StarSChris, what grades do you beleive are good or even acceptable?

Smart and dumb people come out of every place in the united states. From what I've seen, most of the dumb people are Americans. I know four smart people in my school that are American. There are Americans who get good grades, but I know they're not actually "smart"; instead, they just study a lot. For me, that doesn't qualify as smart.

First off, I consider "smart" the ability to use ones head and actually learn, understand, think, and put effort into doing so, rather then just avoid doing the task. The amount of knowledge you actually posses doesn't really matter. Second, forget how many smart people there are. Its the percentage that really matters. We simply don't have the same ratio of intellectuals as we used to. There would be no real difference in ratio from back then till now if all these people didn't take everything for granted(Thank You for pointing this out, CheeZe) and actually cared about their futures and educations. And as for College, well, almost any foreigner from Japan, China, Korea, India, even Russia, that graduated from high schoo, could probably get through college without the same amount of trouble as Americans (provided that they aren't somehow..."modified"...by fellow dorm members or other such cases..). I just don't see that as a reason against it all, especially since most of our educational problems are from highschool and down.

Even the A's people are dishing out nowadays mean nothing. If you got an A for Pre-Algebra, but you're in, what, 8th grade? Does that make you smart? Hell, you should atleast be in Geometry, those were the old standards I believe. And excluding Math, there are still other subjects where this sort of stuff happens. Grades don't mean shit, really. They're just something the system uses to determine your academic level, and its not really all that accurate.

First off, you're taking us too literally. When one says "all," they don't really mean ALL. Its an exaggeration, and if you have possibly forgotten, then please allow me to remind you that the human race is very accustomed to exaggerating things.

And we aren't talking about what they don't know, its the fact they don't know it by now. Its of their ability, willingness and actuall effort, not the amount of knowledge they posess.

Anyways, we're not saying that we're perfect, we're complaining that others are worse.
Just because we made a mistake doesn't mean we're out of place in insulting others- that's only when we make more mistakes then they do.

Most of the stupid people in America isn't just because America is mainly made-up of Americans.
I look at the halfway intelligent people at school, and most of them are not American.

I blame the Mormons. We kill them, there. Problem solved.
Smart people have gotten smarter, but the general public is still very impressionable and rather stupid. As evidenced by the high numbers of idiots voting for parties as opposed to Presidents, (even when the opposing candidate could easily be better for you), people don't like making hard decisions. i doubt the education system will be getting better if we get another President like Bush. The coporates put the money in the pockets of alot of candidates, industries that would lose money if people got smarter and realized how useless their products are, or that they can get the same thing for alot less. Credit cards, cell phones, expensive and inefficent cars, expensive houses, crappy but expensive computers, and the loopsided ness of the food industry, the stuff that tastes good but is horrible for you is cheap, the stuff that's good for you is expensive. All of those industries lose alot of money when people come to their senses and stop paying money for cash they could get later, buy smaller and more effective cars, (also damaging the gasoline/oil industry), buy houses within their range, and get on theirn shitty computers and use the internet to buy worthwhile computers that might cost as much as the ones they have now. So, you can all expect to be called a nerd for a good deal of time.

Well, today was the last day of school for me (earlier than most schools I hear), last day of this school forever (8th grade, going into 9th {high school!}) and it was the worst day of the school year, since my teachers made me not want to leave, and a food fight, a riot, and cussing out the teachers were on the last day of school, I wanted to cry, and I very rarely cry (even on death).

Damn ba*****s think that they can't get punished, but most of them got first week of high school suspension for next year. Most of them I believe are going to go into drugs, gangs, and crap. I hope next year will be /socially/ acceptable.

3/4's of my school are nearly brainless, and I was wondering "why the hell me?" Unfortunetly I have the answer...

"It has got to be someone."

Anything like this at your school?

(BTW, sry if I carried too far, I just got out of school and I am steaming!)

Smart, by my defintion, is how fast a person can learn and understand a topic, as well as connecting this kind of knowledge with other experiences or knowledge. Unfortuantly, most people here are not.

Cheeze, I disagree with your post that says "Americans take everything for granted. Why are those foreign people getting A's? Because they know real life takes hard work and determination. American's think everything will go their way because they are Americans, thus better than other countries." The way it is worded means to me that all americans take everything for granted and don't understand the effects of hard work and determination. I believe that while there are those that are like that (a disgusting amount) that not all americans are that way. It seems to me that you neglect the fact that there are stupid foreign people. Your definition for smart doesn't fit very many of the foreign people I know, and of the ones it does fit, they don't work hard and aren't determined.

Also, everytime I use the world "American" or "Foreign People" or whatever, it's implied that it means "most" or "majority" or "overall".

Actually it only takes about 2-4 years of schoolwork that doesn't overload your brain to get virtually any job an average person would want. Also, to tell the truth, the average I.Q. if an American is beat by a Russian or an Asian by about 3 out of 4 people. The obesity problems and natural aggressive culture of America doesn't make them look that much smarter either.

They don't get A's either. I understand that you're point is that a majority foreigners understand that hard work and determination are what will make them succeed later on in life, it's just that from where I am, this point is wrong. The majority isn't always just the majority of the people you know.
