I think school is a place to sleep, learn, die and talk with friends.

from my prespective school is a place where you hang out with your friends and learning things that help in life. the fact is that u arent being forced to go to school but what are you going to do in your own life, in the real world.

School is a place where, although I'm still ahead of my classmates in knowledge and intelligence, I learn depressingly little.

My guidance councelor, and my history teacher, (Who was once an actual principle) told me that highschool isn't that important. If you plan on going to a normal college, just get your G.E.D. and take the community college route. (This is in the USA) It will save you a LOT of money. (If you have a disability like me, (I have a learning disability) It is a lot easier to get financial aid for college)
Only reason why I'm in highschool, is because I didn't find this out till late my junior year. And all I have left is my senior year, which should be a breeze. Only going to highschool for fun, and the diploma ain't that bad either. I'm mainly there for just highschool memories. That's just about it.

Whaaat alpha? I seriously don't see how what you're saying could possibly be right about high school, maybe its true in some areas but where I am you learn nothing at all in middle school and everything important in high school. High school actually has a decent english program, high school has physics and real comp-sci, high school has courses that arn't repeats of what we've been learning since 5th grade.

I know, that's why I said if you're going to a normal college. If you're going to somewhere like harvard or something, the community college route won't really work for you. (Unless you bribe some people or something, or find some kind of loop hole)
Also, you are right. It does change from place to place. Not all states are the same at all.
EDIT - Most of what I'm saying is repeating what my teacher and guidance counselor told me. And when they said it, they made it sound like a dark little secret about our school system.
