Actually, they can train you. They don't teach you to hold a gun and any of the other physical stuff BUT they teach you do hide behind a wall waiting for the guy to come. You see him come out jump at him and slit his throat with a knife. The games just give you more of a visual aid.
Bullshit. Games don't cause violence. Games MIGHT cause people to be desensitized to violence, but thats not the same as violence.
It's A GAME. People know that. People know you don't do that stuff. Maybe they'll be unsensitive to violence after kill so many people, but they wont BE violent.
If your gonna ban San Andreas for being violent, why not ban cars? Cars run people over.
If you're going to ban video games because of violence why not ban movies as well, even if it's rated R minors view them all the time. Supposing if video games did teach kids to be violent, then movies would do just the same, but apparently those people against video games aren't going to do anything about movies.
Banning a game is going way to far, just because some people might confuse gaming and reality, doesn't mean no one should be able to play it.
It's not the games fault for causing aggression in the kid, it's the stupid kid's fault for being so damn dumb and easily influenced.

You're saying that's a bad thing? To me, that teacehes you how to survive in that kind of environment. Even though many of us will never be in that kind of environment (POWs probibly will though [Prisoners of War]) I still think that it isn't a bad thing to be "trained" from a FPS.
I have been around Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem 3D my hole life, does that mean it trained me to kill monsters and aliens!??!?!??
Get a real sense of reality man.
Where did I state it was a bad thing??
Yeah like phsycoz. Hey i say hell no its fun, any of my nephews would do it.. (as i think) But still thats why its rated M. If parents let their kids play it... heck its not our decision!
Kellimus, all he did was state that some video games can train you somewhat to know how to kill people, if not giving you the physical knowledge to do so.
I actually have no problem with realistic shooters, such as Battlefield 2 or Call of Duty, but what does this teach you other than to glorify drugs, murder, etc?
This has about as much value to the game world as rap does to music.
Which is about:
(Nothing, in case you didn't get it)
This is teaching you subconciously that all of the things you do in this game are ok, with its semi-plausible background and setting. Personally, I just think the game is crap.

It's human nature to point the blame on something else.

I know this is old but...
Yes, all that humans do is blame things on others. They even say that on MGS2!

That's absolutely true, of course it tells you the things you do in the game are ok, or else the game wouldn't work... if shooting a gun and killing the enemies isn't ok in the game then what is? Letting them kill you and getting the Game Over message?
Ah, but it teaches you to hunt out and kill the enemies. At least in most games you actually have a somewhat decent purpose for doing so.
So what does that change? It teaches me to hunt out enemies in the
game. Nothing in there should lead you to believe this applies to real life. Only morons make that connection and end up killing people

I'm not saying that it will make people kill - I'm just saying that I think the game is rubbish and shouldn't be condoned.
