Updates: All battlefields terrain are done. I'm not gonna show screenshots, I rather let you check them out on your own when I release the game(Pssh, go find out the strategic positions yourself.)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Phoenix)Soul) on 2005-07-26 at 15:44:01
I have a question about your food system. Will tanks and mech units also consume food? Or just infantry?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-07-27 at 07:20:38
All... to answer your question further... tanks, jeeps, etc. need pilots or drivers to control them. And pilots and drivers need to eat. Even your general consumes food.

ADDITION:
Another poll time:

Should I allow players to buy lieutenants?

•Yes

•No

Description: When you enter a battle, you can choose to send either a lieutenant or a general to lead your army.
If you send your general and lose the battle, your opponent will be given two choices: Let you free for either

•Money(500 gold per battle victory and the reason is because the more victories you have, the more important you are to your team which makes you a "valuable" person)

OR

•For all your upgrades(upgraded transport truck, etc.). This means you'll lose all the upgrades you have and your opponent will get them

So if you want to send your general to lead your army, it is best that you are very confident you can win or you'll suffer heavy losses.

For lieutenants, they have no bonuses but, if you lose the battle and you chosen to let lieutenants to lead the battle, you will not suffer any losses.
The disadvantages of lieutenants is that all the units receives no bonus or bad things expect for one: All units have only 65% HP
Also, lieutenants' stats are lower than generals.
Another disadvantage will be that they cost money(For training courses, etc.). Lieutenants cost 10000 gold each.

P.S. If you lose a battle against the neutrals and you used your general, you will not suffer any losses.

ADDITION:
Now, not only do you gain gold from kills, you will gain 25 gold every turn per city and 100 per city. And to add more fun, you can actually "upgrade" the amount of gold you get per turn.

First upgrade
-City: 35 gold per turn
-Capital City: 110 per turn
Cost: 7000 gold

Second upgrade
-City: 50 gold per turn
-Capital City: 125 per turn
Cost: 10000 gold

Third upgrade
-City: 65 gold per turn
-Capital City: 140 per turn
Cost: 15000 gold

Fourth upgrade
-City: 80 gold per turn
-Capital City: 160 per turn
Cost: 19500 gold

Final upgrade
-City: 100 gold per turn
-Capital City: 200 per turn
Cost: 30500 gold

ADDITION:
Just to clarify some matters, lieutenants DO consume food.

Also, at times, riots will occur at cities. Therefore, you should put some guards at cities sometimes.

To do so, simply move next to a city and move your chooser to "Put Guards" and you'll be able to choose how many and what units you want to be guards of the city to prevent riots. Of course, the guards will fight the other players if the enemy player walks near the city.

ADDITION:
Upgraded transport trucks cost are now changed

From high templar to infested kerrigan, it costs 10000 gold

From infested kerrigan to hero zergling, it costs a hell lot because zerglings are very fast... 35000 gold

ADDITION:
Although upgrading is good, you have to decide very well when to upgrade, if your army is too small, it is best you buy more units first but if your army is very big already and you have extra money on hand, get upgrades. And yeah, I know there's a lots of...

Hmmmm....There could be robots!! tongue.gif Anyways this map sounds great. When will you release a demo...assuming you do of course?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Javaboy on 2005-07-27 at 18:31:49
pinch.gif That sounds like a TON of work, anyway
I really think that the idea of having lieutenants is great,
keep up the great work, i cant wait for the real map, or demo.

Well... I don't want those very high-tech stuff like robots so I'm not adding robots. Even if I do, I don't have enough units. And about releasing the demo, I'm not really sure. I might not release a demo and prehaps release a trailer instead, I don't know...

Yeah I know it's a ton of work. Who knows, I might finish it only after 1 year later.

ADDITION:
Hmmmm... should I make a guide for the game which includes strategy, etc.? If I do, I think I should probably give it to only some(For minerals that is tongue.gif Just joking...)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Javaboy on 2005-07-28 at 09:15:48
About the guide, You could have it in the briefing, but some people would actually WATCH the whole thing and others might just skip it, making the ones who just skipped it wait a long time, so if you make it in the briefing it would be best to keep it short, or else you could have it at the beginning of the game so if you wanted to watch it just lets say move a unit to a location and then have it show the tutorial.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-07-28 at 09:25:51
I think putting it in a readme file like on ms word is better. Some expert players will skip it but if there're more noobs than experts, there'll be more votes for the guides and therefore the expert players will have to wait. And having it in briefing will be a bad choice. If a newb wants to read it, he'll not skip briefing and read the guide while the others will have to wait.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Javaboy on 2005-07-28 at 21:03:35
Ya, That would be better.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-07-30 at 03:24:52
Well, I'm almost done with unit "buying" triggers. And for those who think the terrain sucks, I'm not gonna care... I'm not really going for very nice terrain, just a good gameplay, etc.

Wanna know what has been updated? Nothing! Well.. I had some stupid school project... should be done in about 2 days. Sometimes I wish there's no school...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Heavyclone on 2005-08-02 at 06:06:13
Ive just read through all of the replys and the map sounds GREAT and im realy looking forward to it but what i want to know is y do u only get 3-5 seconds a turn dry.gif i mean what if people have slow reflexes and it dosnt giv u enough time to make ur move huh.gif but still it sounds great. Some thing id serenda to play surrender.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Javaboy on 2005-08-02 at 08:35:56
Well, its because a serious gamer could get a
long distance in that time, and the map is supposed
to feel like a HUGE area of land, not a little place where you can cross the entire field in a single turn.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Hikari256 on 2005-08-02 at 13:03:23
How are you doing slope for hill terian? woudl be really cool if you coudl actually use terrain tactics like "reverse slope ambush" and "downhill charge"
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-08-05 at 09:17:24
For hill battlefields, the slopes will just be like the normal doddad one except that it'll be "enlarged". Not only that, I'll be putting dark templars around on the slope owned by p12 with rock sprites over the dark templar. Hey... a mountain path isn't that easy to walk is it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-08-05 at 09:36:16
sounds great!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Heavyclone on 2005-08-06 at 08:06:04
Sounds good but what i sergest say have it able to detect whenther ur on B.NET or single player and if ur in single player u can choose starting seconds per turn like:

7 secs (begginers)

5 secs (amurters)

3 secs (experts)

like to me its a good idea no? biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-08-11 at 02:30:12
Uhhh... just to tell you something... this map is a battle.net map... not a singleplayer map. If you play alone, the game will be a draw immediately. So... I guess you get what I'm saying...

ADDITION:
Water are all walkable but... the shallow water are made of gun traps(Your units won't drown in shallow water) and the missile traps will be the deep water(Walk on it and have your unit live in the sea forever;get drowned). If your eyes are not sharp enough to distinguish the deep water from shallow water, goodbye, you're owned tongue.gif

If you've noticed, the missile trap has a more visible line when placed against one another than gun trap. So.. that's kind of the only way you can distinguish it from shallow water.

With this water system, you can use the deep water to your advantage by having some units stand behind the deep water and lure the enemy into the deep water to get drowned. Of course, the enemy can do that to you as well.

Also, this water system is going to cause you to have to control your units very well cool1.gif

ADDITION:
The shallow water//deep water is also in the world map now. But it works differently... on the world map, if your general walks onto the deep water, 35 of your units will die and you'll automatically be "rescued" by a rescue squad and be transported back to the capital city.

ADDITION:
Well... with the EUD triggers, I plan to include them into this map. However, since mac users won't be able to play this then, I'll create two versions: With EUD and without EUD. I'll release the without EUD version first and when I have the time, I'll work on the with EUD version. Of course, the EUD version might be created more than the non-EUD version but at least, the mac users get to play this map still except without the "special enchantment".
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Heavyclone on 2005-08-11 at 09:54:26
One thing tho, u may find me stupid for saying this but whats a "EUD"?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-08-11 at 10:02:13
Oh my gosh, HeavyClone, you're so stupid! Just joking, don't be offended.

Extended Unit Deaths. EUD Triggers are also known as Triggers of Gods. To explain it further... it's like creating a mod(Or custom...) but except that everyone can play it; totally battle.net compatiable(except mac users)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by VizuaL on 2005-08-11 at 10:56:41
hmm mac users crash?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowWarrior on 2005-08-11 at 11:12:48
If you've read the news... to pc users, the mac users will "leave" but actually they crashed, not left.
