From what I've seen from descriptions, They Just Don't Get It is about winning the war. The Things They Carried is about a more general topic: war itself. One of the best I've ever read, too bad I have to finish a report on it for school now.

We aren't leaving becuase America would look weak (Somalia all over again). The country it self doesn't have enough government facilities to protect and serve itself. And many more things.

Wow I really see how you can interpret that differently, please elaborate on how those two meanings are different. They are saying the same exact thing. When I read it from both sides it doesn't make his point any less clear.

I don't know if he's agreeing or disagreeing with the statement from one of my posts: "One of the reasons the U.S. is not withdrawing is that Bush does not want to lose face and listen to I told you so's, and in the current situation it would also seem like the Al-Qaeda video made us fearful." It'd all depend on how he used the word "for", colored red. A yes/no response is enough to clear that up.
