Good question. It doesn't really matter how you die in space because everybody knows that if you die in space you're...dead.
What else do you need to know?

nicely said it will not be pleasent either so if u dont wanna risk this dont go into space

Yea, I've read what wikipedia says would happen before somewhere else a long time ago. Going in space without a spacesuit for a very short time won't kill you smile.gif

Yay Rexy wikipedia owns! Everyone worship wikipedia.

You could possibly die from suffocation before you went splat.

Vaccum is nothing besides some comsmic junk (Dust, old rusty TV satelites, ect.) would enter yoru system the moment you tried to breath, and would enter you lungs, blood and everything, it'd remove all teh air from your body, killing you. Oh yeah, vaccum, wouldn't nothing being in your body cause a vaccum, so yeah, even if breathing space didn't kill, you, you'd go splat.

I'm just going to quote wikipedia for all the people too lazy to read it, probably most of SEN, and who still might be discussing it based on a false pretense.

QUOTE
Contrary to imagery in the public media (such as in Total Recall), a short term exposure to space of up to 30 seconds is unlikely to cause permanent physical damage.

So none of the things that kill you would really be instant.

Wouldn't the radiation cause damage, and ive read lots of thing in the wikipedia, not all of it is right

Death is awesome only when it happens to humans. Humanity is a parasite to all living things. Lets all go up in space, that ought to fix all of Terra's problems at the same time.

Do you officially call Earth Terra now, I think that we should rename it after an obscure roman god!

... try reading the whole article, it helps.

I guess I'll just quote more of wikipedia.

QUOTE
The environment of space is highly dangerous, without appropriate protection. The greatest threat is from the lack of pressure in the vacuum environment, while temperature and radiation effects also have a small influence.

QUOTE
Without the protection of the atmosphere, solar radiation, particularly ultraviolet rays may cause severe sunburn in a few seconds.

And here is the primary threat:

QUOTE
However, the primary threat is of asphyxiation. In the low pressure environment, normal gas exchange would instead cause the rapid deoxygenation of the bloodstream. After up to 15 seconds, the deoxygenated blood would reach the brain, and loss of consciousness would result. Death would gradually follow after two minutes of exposure - though the limits are uncertain. If actions are taken quickly, and normal pressure restored within around 90 seconds, the victim may well make a full recovery.

for taht 30 seconds, you'd have to hold your breath. and taht's not counting all the cosmic junk.

Rofl no one bothers to read the article:

QUOTE
Some physical damage may result if the victim attempted to hold his/her breath on introduction to the low pressure environment. In that case, a ruptured lung may result from the imbalance in pressure. Damage may also be done to ear drums, and the gastric system.

I'm pretty sure if you aren't concious you can't hold your breath.

It's been called Terra or Terra Firma, LONG before it was called Earth.

I wonder what the root for the word earth was, I can't seem to think of any latin/greek words, or any roman/greek gods who'se names were similar to earth.
Anyone know where this earth business came from?

Or you would get lost and dehydrate till u die

Which would suck

Yeah, I'm awsome!

According to Wikipedia you would probably die from lack of oxygen first.

Dude, try reading all the posts before yours in this whole topic. Seriously, if you looked at the wikipedia links that were posted and quoted you would get an explanation of how a person would die in space.

Have any one of you seen the movie Event Horizon? A guy floats out of the air lock near Neptune...all of his blood gets sucked, no, vaccumed *excuse me* out if him...

And thinking about the whole suffocation thing before...on Earth, you'd die of carbon dioxide poisoning before actual oxygen deprivation kills you, but I guess that won't apply in space...

Ya, we should all rely on movies to show what would really happen. <insert witty comment about a completely fictional movie and how it will happen in real life>
