Yes, that is correct. 5000 minerals is a
of a lot of money. To enter we have to send minerals to who? And do we have to send them a message or post to say we want in? i still haven't made up my mind whether or not to enter. Probably should wait for some more Pre-Releases before I start, then make my UMS Map.
Another question, if we send more than one map, does both maps have equal chances of going into top three? (because if only one map per person can go into top three, there's no point paying more minerals for entering more maps)
Edit: Actually I just realised the answer to this. Ignore this please.
Wow. I could sure use that graphics card. If I wasn't so fed up with Blizzard for the whole EUD debacle I might consider it. I might still, though.
Wow, wtf, is that graphics card 230 dollars? o_O! Damn...that's nice.
I would like to partcipate.
*Red2Blue *Looks at the specifications for his graphics card... "whats with this small number?" I think I need a new one...*
Most of you probably won't be able to use the PCI-Express one, it's a rather new slot in mobos.
Guys spread the word. I'd like a good 50 mappers to participate. If we could get 100 or more (unlikely, but a fanciful idea), that would be great! Then I think I'll start hosting an annual summer tournament with cool prizes like the ones here. How does that sound?
Ok I want to join the tourny
Ahhh, what the hell. I'm in. 100 Minerals is a small investment, and anyway, I might want to bring the finished product to Battle.net at some point in time.
EDIT: And now I look and see that one of the copies has to be protected. Damn, now there I run into some difficulties. Is it possible for me to just submit the unprotected copy?
Why don't you just protect it...
Felagund, how old are you?
Old enough to have the money to get the prizes, not old enough to realise that he is throwing away a lot of cash
(jk he knows but doesnt seem to care). Protected copies will really only be used if you win for purposes of showing the public. Also please do not release any maps intended for the tournament.
To Simulant and Screwed: both those answers are on the main post.

why do u have problem sendin a protected one? also, i think protected is when the judges play it so ur map dont go into b.net pubs unprotected and some1 steal it and put his name in it
It's stupid how big a fairly good chunk of a winning map requires intense triggerings. That's stupid in many cases. Some of the best maps out there could have some of the simplest triggers. Oh wow, a bound map has 100 obstacles and requires LOTS of triggers. Therefore it gets a high trigger score since it does produce alot of effects.
Originality should be the biggest chunk of all. That's what makes maps good. Second should probably be fun.
They're Temp's rules, not mine. I was going to modify them soon anyway.
Originality - 35
Gameplay - 25
Triggers - 15
Terrain - 20
Effects - 10
Is it supposd to equal up to one hundred? If not, I think those numbers are fair.
Gameplay: 40
Originality: 25
Environment: 20 (includes terrain and effects)
Organization: 15 (triggering and neatness)
In my opinion, originality isn't nearly as important as making a fun map.

I never heard anyone say that the triggering section was scored based on how complex your triggering is. Simple triggering is sometimes better for what you want to accomplish. Judges will look at the triggering you used and determine if you used suitable triggers, was there anyhting you could have done better or simplified, this also includes any bugs or glitches related to triggers.
Clan aEp members are waived the entry fee as they'll be paying me what they have to help sponsor the tournament.
6,200 minerals to go.
And a thanks to Mp)Sniper for donating 100 minerals towards the cause.
dont forget my donation
lol
why triggers should be evaluated?? when i make a map, i always protect it, whats the point of organization??
hmmmm....should i enter or just donate...i could use that graphics card or the suround sound system

Not before or during the judging, at least. What I do with the map after the Tournament should, I believe, be my own business.
Hmm...I may just have to blow the dust off a couple old projects and enter this here competition. I haven't made a map for a few years now...
As long as old means begun after July 16, 2005.
All maps will be investigated thoroughly for fraud. No exceptions. Sorry Heim, not even for you. We (I) want people to put forth an effort in this competition.
