[center].: UMS Map Making Tournament :.

.:Tournament Information:.

The tournament kicked off as of August 1, 2005. No map started before July 1, 2005 shall be accepted. All map types, except for masses (i.e. Golems), shall be accepted. The deadline for submitting maps is Saturday, November 5, 2005.

.:Submitting Maps:.

The tournament is henceforth free of charge to submit maps. PM me both an unprotected copy and a protected copy of each map you're submitting. You may e-mail me: NumenorLord@Gmail.com, or you may e-mail Temp: knuckle_ds@rogers.com . I'd prefer an e-mail with my 2500 mb of storage there, and you can send larger maps there as well, but the PM remains an option.

.:Judging:.

The chancellor and vice-chancellors of Clan aEp will be judging the maps submitted. However, we will be accepting two non-clan mappers as judges. Judges may submit maps, but they must have their maps judged by others. PM Volcove if you wish to become a judge.

Game Mechanics: 30 Possible Points
This category covers everything that makes the game work. From triggering to battle systems to leveling up methods, this covers everything that is running behind the scenes to make the map function properly.

Sequencing: 25 Possible Points
Does your map flow from one area to another? I sure hope that all teams are balanced, for this category measures exactly how well the map progresses. Everything that modifies gameplay in any non-static (changing) manner can be found here.

Environment: 25 Possible Points
Terrain artists rejoice! We want to see your gosu skills, but be forewarned: if you decide to do extended terrain it had better be done well. A normal (isometrical) terrain job that creates an aura better than your massive cliffs will score higher. Environment also includes specials effects and anything that adds to the aura (feel) of a map.

Concepts and Creativity: 20 Possible Points
Don't allow the title to fool you. We care neither for nor against new storylines or triggers. We just don't want you to copy an old map and fail to improve upon it. And yes, anyone caught submitting a piece of work that's not their own will be disqualified and given a swift kick in the buttocks. The work must be completely your own. I can't emphasize that enough. No modifications!

.:Judges:.
aE[Felagund]
aE[Temp]
aE[Volcove]

.:Prizes:.

All winners will have their maps posted in a Pinned thread indefinitely in the Clan aEp forums. But, we have actual prizes to go along with this.

Pot: (My total)-(7,500 base)

Grand Prize: 5,000 minerals + 3/4 of the Pot
Second Place: 2,000 minerals + 3/16 of the Pot
Third Place: 500 minerals + 1/16 of the Pot

Not only that, but in order of place, winners will get to choose one of the following three prizes![/center]

This is aEp tournament? this remplace the other one?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-08-24 at 16:39:17
It's ah, updated if you will. And I assure you of their validity. I'll purchase this stuff after the winners are selected and they tell me exactly what they want.

You'll most likely get the prizes via UPS (if you live in the United States). I'll have to look into how to get it overseas and whatnot.

QUOTE
-Maps will be scored on for a total of 100 points. These 100 points are divided equally into 4 categories (25 each): Style, Terrain, Triggering, and Originality/Creativity. Each Category can have several sub-categories, depending on the map type (ex: Style-> Gameplay (for any map), Terrain->3D Terrain (for maps with 3D terrain), Triggering->Effects (for any map), Originality/Creativity->Storyline (for RPGs) etc..)

-Subcategories such as 3D Terrain and Storyline will only be used for maps with those things in them. So if you are going to put it in make it good. The 25 points are divided evenly in between the sub categories.

i think it will b the same in here

The Mapping community seriously needed one of these done, and your clan(aep) has done it. It's good to see people taking initiative into turning the mapping community into a bussling one. I just want to congratulate you guys for hosting it and awarding actual prizes(people will probably be drawn towards the prizes biggrin.gif ).
As for Judging, what would I need to qualify for if I am to seek becoming a judge? Will you screen me? Or interview of some type? Or is it just a judgement of abilities? Reply here or Pm to let me know please, thanks.

:Jaw drops: Omg... REAL PRIZES! Too bad I started WoS3 in May...

Can maps entered in other contests be entered in this one as well?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2005-08-24 at 18:34:54
I'll ask you a bunch of questions, and I'll want to see some of the work you've done. If everyone who wishes to become a judge could PM me their AIMs, Yahoos, or MSNs I'd be appreciative of that. It will make this whole thing much slicker.

I still cant believe an expensive graphics card is going to be given to the winner!!!!! I mean a map costs nothing but time where as the card costs hundreds of dollars!!!!

As long as your map(s) meet(s) the aforementioned criteria, you can submit it. Remember it had to have started no sooner than July 16, 2005.
