I think that handguns and rifles should be allowed. (Non-military) Criminals will always have access to better guns, but that gives us no right to allow people to just decide to mow down the entire office conplex with his AK47.

Pistol- You can kill one, maybe two people if you're good, before someone shoots back
Rifle- True there was the DC sniper, but honestly I'd be much more afraid of a guy right in front of me with a 44 Magnum than a Sniper a mile away.

I don't get why our Founding Fathers words and beliefs are taken so seriously. I mean, they lived around 230 years ago, and they weren't perfect then, let alone now!
Psycho, I believe you can purchase any assault-class weapon in the U.S.

With guns, the percentage of crimes that are lethal goes up dramatically.

Well the amount of ant fatalities goes up when shoe control laws are lifted. A certain amount of people will die from crimes while there is poverty and insanity in the world. nothing we can do about that. maybe we can lessen the amount, but we can't stop it. If the entire populace owned guns and knew how to use them, then people would defend themselves. But no. We have a horde of incompetent illiterate lazy sacks of blam.

As my mother always says: ' An armed society is a polite society '

QUOTE
That's not true. Studies have shown that when crimes in general go up, gun sales go up, but when gun sales go up, crime does not go up. So the amount of guns being sold has little to no effect on the amount of crimes.

What about gun sales going down? I dont think that will decrease the crimes. Hell, it might increase it. And the crimes may not go up when more guns are sold because more citizens are armed. So what you yourself said is that we should sell more guns because it will not affect the crime-rate.

I think that you should not have to register guns. You should be able to, but not necesary. We need to educate people on proper gun use, which is the problem. Noone knows how to use a gun!

I agree with Dr.Shotgun in the sense that the average person does not need an M-16 or Sniper Rifle, a handgun is sufficient.

The fifth Amendment states, "nor shall any person. . .be deprived of life, liberty, or property".

I think it is fair to restrict firearms whose sole design intent revolves around doing just that.

AK-47's do not save lives, they take them. Whereas it would be much easier to immobilize someone with a small pistol where they then could, "enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense."

Things get intersting when the Bill of Rights contradicts itself, but I'll support our government's decision of going down the path that will eventually prevent more deaths.
