Funny how they only publicize American disasters and make it seem like it's the end of the world.

Maybe you should get off your ass and submit some Candian troubles. The only reason we 'publicize American news' is because nobody gives SEN anything else.

You seem to have forgotton one of our administrators is Canadian.
How many people died in Toronto today?

New Orleans has been sinking for ages! It was [i]once[.i] above Sea Level. But, the prolonged building and population growth has caused the sinking to increase. I believe(correct me if I am wrong) that it was/is sinking up to about an inch a year.

You should really listen to the link Valug posted: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/262703

I'm thinking of donating $20 because of it. Otherwise I would have not donated at all.

Hurricane Katrina the biggest storm to ever hit the USA since Hurricane Andrew back in 1991 or 1999 can't remember I think it was 1999. From the information that I know 3 states have been lain in ruin by this massive storm, 80% of Louisiana is under water, massive looting has tooken place in these cities, gas prices are skyrocketing due to the fact that there were some major oil refineries in the gulf which were evidently ruined by the storm, and most important of all is there were too many innocent lives tooken by this storm, people heartbroken and lost, people without food, water, housing, they have nothing! This storm is so emotional it is heartbreaking to think of all of these people without there parents/children/grandparents/brothers/sisters. My prayer goes out to all of the people who have lost everything in this storm, and people who were not hit by this storm ought to be the luckiest people on the planet that they still have food, water, and housing, becuase these people have nothing at all. Also I am grateful to see how people can react to a situation to this from helping people to safety to stoping the looting. But should we be focused on the looting? The answer is no. We should worry about getting all of these people safe and finding their lost relatives first, then worry about the looters.

I was referring to American media in general, not SEN. I'm sorry if you misunderstood, but don't act like I don't care, but the fact of the matter is, THE USA IS NOT THE CENTER OF THE WORLD.

So, uh, all those people we donated to for helping out with the tsunami are going to help us out here, right? crazy.gif

I can rest easy tonight. I donated money to the red cross this afternoon. I've been watching the news alot for days and I can't imagine how that must be. They not only lost all material possessions, but lost everything they take comfort in.

I kinda feel guilty because despite plenty of personal/legal problems I've had, I've always had a home to go to. Is that normal? Do any of you feel guilty because you haven't had to live through something like that? I'm not really sure why I do.

Way to miss the point guys. You know what? Screw off.

Just like the Tsunami I know there is hope that man will be able to pick up their fellow man after they have fallen. Let's hope that those who are still in the disaster area get out quickly and safely.

New Orleans won't be inhabitable for months, this is the biggest disaster the United States has ever faced. A city hasn't been called to evacuate since the Civil War!

QUOTE(Yoshi da Sniper @ Sep 1 2005, 08:19 PM)
I fully agree. There has been a lack of support. For all you idiots who say "They had it coming" or "They deserve it", are ignorant and stupid. Just because they live in the United States doesn't mean they're all the same and appose the values you do.

The only thing these people did wrong is live in the wrong place and the wrong time. Help them out.
Wait, there are idiots saying that they deserve it???
Since when are people that stupid allowed on SEN?
EDIT: Oh I see, it was Lisk -.-

Why not go if you have IE?
Also: Someone's counterpoint argument i found at the site:
QUOTE(Somedudewhocommentedonnewgrounds)
What a self-righteous load of garbage. The extensive media coverage of Katrina's aftermath is largely what has spurned the government into real action, as opposed to the pathetic display that occurred during the first few days. There is loads of footage and reports of journalists who HAVE been helping those that are stranded IN ADDITION to reporting on this extremely pertinent story. And despite what you might think, reporting on this disaster IS IMPORTANT. Without the extensive media coverage, you yourself would be unaware of the devastating impact of this storm that you claim the media is overlooking. Do you genuinely believe that the financial outpouring from the rest of the country would have happened were they not to have seen the images on television? How disappointing that this cartoon, which in the past has shown a keen eye for social maladies, has been reduced to the status of whiny little censored.gif. Don't yell at others to get perspective when you clearly have none yourself.

Don't yell at Lisk people. Yes he was very wrong and acting stupid at the time. But he was in a bad mood, and I think H'll regret what he said later.

Ultimo, I have the answer: Pompei!!! Gimme a cookie now

I'll give you a cookie, but when Pompeii was built, Vesuvius was believed to be inactive, such as New Orleans was built at one point above Sea-Level.

What we have begun to forgotten here is that people are dying and they need our help. It doesn't matter if France or Germany or the United Kingdom does not help us out. They've got their own poblems, and we can help ourselves. People who were hit by the Christmas Tsunami could not. It doesn't matter if the media is making it worse than it is, it is bad whatever view you choose it see it. PEOPLE DIED AND ARE STILL DYING AND SUFFERING AS A RESULT OF A HURRICANE. They had it coming, considering where they live. But to condemn these people just because they made the decision to live there is immoral, and to do so would mean they also would laugh in your face should you suffer some crisis. We as citizens of the United States must come together, and help each other out, because that is the example we as a more powerful nation must set to everyone else. And the citizens of Canada should help... if they want to; it's not their problem anyways, although any aid should not be denied. They would be doing us another favor. Again.

Our hearts should go out to the people suffering from this tragedy.
My condolences to those directly and indirectly affected in some way by the Hurricane.

ADDITION:
I wasn't exactly thinking clearly or organized when I wrote this. If anything seems contradictory, or somewhat messed up, please consider it a case of idiocy...

The point is we should help the people who are suffering from this tragedy, and our prayers and wishes go out for the people who were affected as such.

I'll be getting back to my non-idiot medicine now.

Last I've heard was that some guys shot a navy seal, that was helping them, how pathetic is that I hope these people who are shooting the people who are helping them get disciplined badly, because of their pointless actions.

Yeah, the entire thing has turned into a wet war zone. What do you expect? People to cooperate? That's the last thing that'll happen.
