Actually, I left the DLDB applications to be more about what you want to say. The obvious thing is that you're trying to sell yourself. Saying that your "bored" or "kinda want to do it" doesn't really do it.
ADDITION:
Reason why I said "Reply with your account": Because there's always someone who will tell their friend to apply for them, and then they change their mind or something.

And how stupid. How can anyone expect to be given staff on their first day as a member. Even if they've been visiting SEN since day 1, it just doesn't happen.

I think its kinda a unwritten rule. It is being refered to as an "application" If he didn't want you to present yourself professionally he would just pick his friends or make a populairty contest. I think it would be awsome to have someone whom is not very well known here become a seciton leader. Also the application is a good place to show your intelligence and maturity when it might not be apparent else where.
My best example would be to look up Dabbu's acount, and seach his post. One of Dabbu's first post if not the first is a post in the garbage section asking "Have you ever rode your bike backwards?" Its compleatly crazy and I was like OK WHATEVER?
But later I began to reconize Dabbu as one of best mapmakers I have ever known.
