To Apply:
Simply reply to this topic with your account.
Eh, and what did I do wrong? You really want me to write all that stuff
*I can do that
*I can do this
.....
Like it would matter. All DLDB keeper have to do is check DLDB from time-to-time. I can do it twice a week. What more you actually need to know?
Is it just me thinking too hard or was "reply to this topic with your account" actually mean don't reply as a guest? Theres a link to your profile just to the left of your post so i don't see the point of liking to it in the post.
Anyways I find alot of these applications humorous. Just like any other job you need to prove yourself over everyone else applying. You can't make an impression by going in and simply saying "I've got alot of free time and am pretty bored so i can do it".
If you do your very unlikely to get the job, on the other hand if you state in your DLDB application that you have always enjoyed starcraft and express your admiration of the growing database. Then inform people of an experiance that you have had similer to the job your applying too. Your much more likely to be considered. Employers look to see if the person is capable of doing the job before seeing if they have the time, It is normally assumed if you do not have the time to do the job then you won't apply. (that being the main reason i'm not applying)
I'll be mean and point out the ones i think are really bad.
QUOTE(UMS App)
I'll apply... I guess
Why me? Who knows... I'm just your common map maker, and I'm pretty good at keeping track of forums like so. Consider me if you wish.
Way too short doesn't show intrest in getting the possition espcially 'I'll apply... i guess"
QUOTE(UMS App)
I play ums too much...
Im on comp 30-50 hours a day... j/k 30-40 hours a week.
i have alot of experiance in ums mapping just havent taken the time to make a highly triggerful map... plus any map i make lags me comp pinch.gif still...
My home page is SEN but mostly every here has it tongue.gif

Things to Improve UMS Section
Hmm... Now Thats A Tricky Quesion And Requires Some Thinking...
I Would Add A Favorite Smilie Bar In The Smilies Bar
Oh And This One...
I Would Add Sections For Noob Questions And Pro Questions That Would Be Really Helpful Wouldn't it?
Tournies
Hmmm
4 tournie ideas...
1) Diplo Tournie
2) UMS Making Tournie
3) Terrain Contest - Hand Make Terrain Ideas Like Piccys And Stuff
4) Defence Tournie - Organize People Into Teams And Whichever Team Makes it Farthest Into The Map Without Losing Wins
1. Your homepage doesn't make a bit of differance, nither does the fact that his computer lags (unless he was applying for dldb)
2.'never been reconized and feels like crap' Major self confidence issue were not going to accept you because we pitty you.
3.Expresses that he is power hungry, I would turn him down for that line alone.
4.What does hating hackers have anything to do with it?
In his defense he list the second half as his 'real reasons'. However sarcastic jokes do not have a place in applications.
On his things to improve on, Favorate smileies is not specific to that section (and I find it pointless). Also the use of his own smileies makes it look unprofessinal.
Now the idea about the pro questions and noob questions is good inspite that I belive it wouldn't work at all. His tournament ideas are nice, if he actually carried things like a defence tournament i think that would be cool.
now here is a very good application:
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopi...ndpost&p=308279I hadn't read it until now inspite of the fact that I've never noticed him before I think he is more qualified to be a leader than most other people who applied to the ums section. When you learn to take interveiws you learn to make your negitives your positive features. He does this well when he describes why he doesn't post much and isn't well known. (read point 2)
