The problem with making a 256 x 256 map "all extended" is that you can hit the "too many nooks and crannies" error with just plain isom. He had to restart the terrain because he hit the error.

And of course the fact that ground units got stuck on the bridge.

Syphon, the ground units got stuck on the bridge? Well, I have taken away all bridges, and plan on placing them on other contenents, but I have stated in my Crescent Dyne thread the system of Terrain Safety which turns summoned units/ mercinarys into an orb, to be resummoned when u later enter a moderate or serious battle...

Wilhelm, I have changed the layout to islands for the purpose of reducing nooks and crannies and took away 50 blocks from width and height which, in total, when completed, It will add up to 50% of the map of reduced extended (More open areas for spawns and towns that are now planned out completely in advance, before basic terrain is even thought of).

I plan on having less repetitive common extended terrain blends, and more advanced combonations of moderate to expert blends in a design that will benefit the random treasure spawns, buildings, and other events and internals of the RPG.

Thankyou for pointing these problems out, so I can name how I will try to fix them. So, in all, about 15-30% is water, 30-35% is null, and the rest is either small island formations both useable, and unuseable. Designated sectors for spawning locations and towns are selected before terrain template is placed.

Link to Crescent Dyne RPG thread : http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=21151

I am adding triggers and towns which will be arranged to make these screenshots even better. I have a 2 page paper due every week in my history class, and I am reading like 9 books, and I have guitar lessons and jamming groups to go to every week! Ahhh! Try'n to inch my way forward from a crawl into a sprint on this map.

Good blending, old terrain set. The cliff-ramp is one of the easiest and most overused example of blending in this forum.

Try something new. smile.gif

he's got many bridge in the map but didnt show any in here
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Fortune on 2005-10-06 at 09:03:28
It's not just a bridge, it's bridge blended with water/ruins/and dirt. That's a bit more complicated than any old bridge blending. Although it may seem like a small accomplishment to the naked eye, it's much harder than you may think.

Frotune, your terrain has more errors then it does blends. Stop using this thread to try and promote your terrain that doesn't come close to the quality of mine.

I'm not promoting my terrain. I'm showing you how it should be done.
