yeah i definetly created this same topic like a month ago and u just see the same blam over and over again nothing new is ever come up with. the most inovative thing i have seen lately for spells was the casting system that Nemsis made
im not sur wat the casting system is, but one i actually went through with making, was using a building and hotkeyin it then ea of the 4 units represents a dif spell, anyway i had 4 dif spells, earthquake which took 25% of enemies hp and could kill(EUD's, quite a few) and it worked no matter where u were on map, used a coordinate system, anotehr spell was stun, just set the enemy to p12 for some time then set bak to p8, 3rd spell was a simple healing spell that healed according to ur lvl, higher lvl meant higher maximum haelth, and the 4th spell was a doom spell which brought all enemies within a 8 x 8 location dwn by 33% in hp but always left enemy with 1% hp atleast (EUD's again, way more then earthquake) but they worked great. and for the mana, just used gas, again had a maximum for each lvl, and also each spell could fail.
well not sure if i actaully helped, but hopefully i did

as long as the upgrade is enabled but not researched, the normal version wont hav speed upgrade but the hero will, maybe it dont hav to b enabled but i think it does

im not sure if it will work, but soon in my rpg im thinking of for the sorceress, having an energy shield spell like in diablo 2 which could double your max shield points for a certain amount of time?
umm, i got a casting system....
its really simple..
wot u have is a corsair hovering above ur hero in a 4x4 location, it the sair leaves the square, it gets teleported back to the middle
now, to cast: simply have a unit in ur "spell area" to be sitting on a spell beacon.
then when u cast disrution web from the sair (spell caster) it centres a location onto the web, removes it, and makes that spell... it would help u cast faster cuz u dont gotta go all the way down to the corner to select a spell to cast - can piss u off..
OR, u can have a dropship, overlord ect. holding a bunch of "spell units"...
when u unload them, it casts the spell, and it is recommended to be hotkeyed

(much like mario kart battle

Its not bad, but rpgs often have air units and the corsair would hurt that..

My teleportation technique is quite original i would think..
Not many think of the tank thing.. etc.

Some of the spells I have thought up are:
Taunt: All nearby enemies are forced to move towards your hero, usually they take extra hits and ignore spell casters when this is done. I rank this as medium, depending on if they're choosable heroes or not.
Rocket: Creates a wraith that automatically targets nearby enemy units, and crashes into them. Only works on weak units. This is medium, location issues.
Shadow Strike: Basically, works best with melee units. When you cast the spell, in a limited radius, you are teleported to an enemy for a couple of seconds, then you spawn a dark templar, which does damage, he strikes, and you move back. It looks really cool if you can do it right. An added effect is that your hero is protoss and the templar has the same attack as you, and upgrades the same, so you have "2x" attack when you do it, etc. Medium, location issues.
Suicidal Bomb: A weak unit is summoned in your command, and when destroyed, will spawn infested terran which will cause massive damage where he died. Very easy to do.
Forcefield: Instead of constantly setting shield to 100%, you can have an armor effect. Simply said, constantly increase the shield to 2. If with hyper triggers, the two armor will act as a second armor. It will block most weak attacks, and reduce damage on all other attacks. Added effect is the ability to upgrade plasma shield! Very easy to do.
will the rocket ever miss?
Automatically targets enemies in the small radius, so probably not. But if that's your thing, just throw in some randomizing switches.

Makes the enemies <move> (not attack, and repeat move trigger) to hero, causing them to take dmg but do very little.

But the force field one will only work well if its a unit that doesnt originally in ure rpg have shields.
wll Ultimo, if anyone knows me here, i like to see how tyhings work, i created all ur spells, the location problems were overcome with a mobile grid, except i added a twist, as u lvl up, ur available range increases, it took a few triggers, but once i learnt how to rite trigs in text, it was easy, copy & paste, copy & paste
nice ideas tho, mind if i use them and giv credit

you asked about "Create scarabs.% (does it work?)"
and do you mean by scarabs create when you use a spell and yes it does work however, you would usally need you yourself to control the scarab or a computer ally to control the scarab...
you make a reaver at a location make like a pylon (ppl's fav) make reaver attack pylon at that little place you made.. make a location around them all.
and make all scarabs at that location move to your hero and then once when it appears at your hero if it is its heros ally then it will automaticlly find a enemy unit and attack it if its in its range...

my friend done it on one of his good budokai map but the theme wasnt budokai but he made the player with reaver ally to both the good and bad guy which made the scarab useless....
thats just a story well good luck you got a lot of nice spells there i might even use a few of them..
theres a tutotial on controlling scarabs/interceptors isnt there, maybe not, but there should b for ppl who dont know how to

Hey man, more power to you. The reason I posted it is since I'd like to see some of the ideas come to life really. If I wanted you not to use them, I wouldn't of posted them.

sweet, wall i hav a little text documane for my rpg with all the names of ppl who gave me ideas and i was aloud to use, credits will b included with ur name and wat you contributed, unlike Stranded RPG I which didnt work out so great, it just wouldnt display txt for otehr players, but w.e, im over it, now that i found a trigger duplicator that works great, the DOs one, it works perfect, justedit the config file and tada, triggers for all 5 players and all i did is made 1 set of triggers, made all the switches and locations i needed, and it worked fine, now each player has seperate triggers for their text
man there pretty easy.. its common sence (if you make maps) to kinda know it after you see it expect.. the part that the owner of the reaver has to be unallied with the enemy and allied to you or they wont even hit anything
but then again there is tutotial for everythign so we should

well, i think a bit of language work is needed for BoyScout's last post, but ya, enemy must not b allied to reaver's owner, or scarab will go to hero, then blow up and deal dmg to hero and any enemy within scarabs explosion

well, i came up with another idea, this is more of the triggers of spells, not the actual idea, most spells always hit, or else they hav a small chance of failing, and in mutiplayer rpgs, u cant dmg ur own teamates, y not use a grid system for a spell like just say thunder, where the beams of electricity moved from 1 grid sqr to the nxt randomly, so 1 beam ofm lightining goinfg one way may hto nothiung or hit a teamate and an enemy or watever, and higher magic lvl means more bolts sent out. etc. just an idea, all my ideas ceom from reading otehr posts, then all of a sudden i get an idea, well tell me wat u think

No, you can't just create scrabs.

You've never seen complex triggers until you've seen fishgold's little surprise thats gonna come soon. Lucky for him there is no trigger # limit or he'd of hit it a long time ago.
