Yes the emotions of fear and sadness. Personally, I believe they acted perhaps too emotional. And the movie was easy to anticipate. I would give scream 6/10. dry.gif

Scary movies are good until they actually show the creature or whatever, which I just completely loath!

Boogeyman - Scary until they actually showed the Boogeyman, he looked like the mummy guy from The Mummy.

The Grudge - Pretty freaky for me, like when the thing was in the bed covers...

Saw - Intense but not too scary.

The Ring - Somewhat freaky at some parts.

The Ring 2 - Never saw it...

Signs - Freaky until they actually showed the aliens, the CGI for them was so bad.

The Village - Never saw it...

Darkness Falls - Wow! Very freaky until the thing's mask fell off, she looked so old and gay. After watching this, I was scared to go into the dark.

Those are all I can think of right now...

Boogeyman = Not Scary, there really wasn't anything scary about it, the guy was just stupid, the ending was abrupt, and they used freakin' cgi.

The Grudge = I already explained.

Saw = Intense, not scary, but had really corny acting, like that one scene with the phone, "I need to help my family!!" I honestly felt like it was a cell phone commercial.

The Ring = Gay

The Ring 2 = Gay with the Ring

Signs = Boring, just go to Maddox's website, he explains it well.

The Village = Wasn't even scary, was just stupid.

Darkness Falls = Had so much potential, but it got REALLY stupid when they were dodging the dark. I wish the tooth fairy wasn't idiotic, after all, It could've simply covered itself with its cloak to prevent the light burning it too much.

Wow! You really loath horror movies don't you?
I on the other hand love horror movies, they pwnzors all of the sockzors in the world.
If you hate them so much, why do you watch them?

I don't hate the horror genre. For instance, I like Ammityville horror, there were actually moments in that where it made me jump because they hardly used any CGI crap. I'm just saying I wish they were better.

You guys need to see the japanese horror movies (like the rings 1&2, dark water, the grudge) if you want some serious terror. I just watched ringu2 (which is the japanese ve rsion) it made almost no sense but it was scary as blam.

The ending for Jeepers Creepers. Didn't "scare me" but it left me with an awful feeling in my gut. Alien was a good movie, but never really scared me. A few scenes strike out as strongly manipulating my emotions: When the big nose guy was searching for the cat. You just KNEW he's gonna get eaten, but it just never seems to come. Also, the scene in the shaft, it just popped, bam, out of nowhere. You know that feeling that IT IS GONNA JUMP OUT AT YOU, but you don't know WHEN, so it still shocks you. Terrible feeling.

I kinda stopped watching horror movies, mostly cause I've seen the good ones, and the new ones I think will suck or I've heard suck.

No.
You want to try to make something that would apply to everybody's fears.
For example:
Little Timmy was afraid of chairs.
Obviously, trying to make a scary movie on this would be hard.  More than likely, a person would die from laughter if they saw a chair beat down somebody, that or be incredibly confused.

Dude, I just busted out laughing from that. If it was in a movie, man, that'd be great.

Your not a sissy. its just your mind playing with you. Happens to me too, i remember along time ago watching aliens, i just couldnt stop looking at the doorway in my bedroom when i went to sleep because i kept thinking about if an alien walked past there. There were many other times that horror movies had me freaked out in some parts wherever i went in my house. But hey, its the horror movie effect. Can really put you off something for abit

That happens to me sometimes too, mainly when I watch something when I'm tired. A while ago I watched Shaun Of The Dead at 4 AM ish, and I couldn't sleep for a while. After I did and woke up, I was fine though.

The Village was the worst horror movie I ever watched.

All the zombie movies aren't realistic, you've got to read the Zombie Survival Guide.

Shaun of the dead was the scarriest movie I have ever watched.... EVER!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Jordan on 2005-10-23 at 13:21:23
lol. Shaun of the dead is pure commedy.
Movies:

Boogeyman: OH MY GOD! Lol jp. It wasnt that scary, it just had that feeling :\. When you got to see him in 1 part of the movie screws it up a bit.

Grudge: Okay movie. Nothing that scary.

Scary Movie 3: OMG!2321313 SO SCARY! I love this commedy. Especially when at the begining they get the phone call. Lol! My precious.

Ammityville Horror: Great movie! Since its realistic it makes me fear to go to New York!

Doom: Isn't scary. Cool with the FPS, nice zombie designs. I just hate that it didnt show the hell knights :\. Nice visual place designs. BFG owns you. Did I mention the BFG is bigger than The Rock? At the end of the movie is very surprising how The Rock dies.

Hint: *Swish* *Teleport* *B00M*

How is it a surprise if the commercial says, "Nobody gets out alive!" Hence why I didn't bother to see this lump of cheeze.

And why is that? Because there is a lack of movies that scare me? I'm simply saying that horror movies today are just getting less original and less horrific. And on a sidenote, I thought that you would be able to tell that I was being sarcastic with my last response to you "God" question.

"Yes." means your sarcastic? how am i able to tell when you are not?

No not cause movies dont scare you. you prounce around like a little biznatch thinking you know everything about horror movies. Movies are getting stupid, that i can agree on. but the way you talk is like you know everything.

Why wouldnt you see a movie? cause the preview was bad? or it said one thing ya thats a good reason not to see a movie. you never know if you would of liked it.

I implied sarcasm because I actually said yes to the whole "God" question. Who honestly thinks they're God? Besides dictators, people don't think they are. I love how describe that I say things like a little "biznatch" who talks like they know everything about horror movies. Guess what sunshine, there isn't much to know about horror movies. I pretty much summed up how horror movies are today. As far as not seeing Doom, I only gave one reason as to why I chose not to see it. I only said that reason because I found it somewhat humorous. Other reasons include:
-The Rock sucks. To me anyways.
-I'm not a fan of Doom.
-This seemed like an action movie more than horror, and I'm not that much of a fan of action movies. I just simply don't get any emotional thrills from action.
-Simply didn't look interesting to me.
With some of those reasons being said, yes, I do know if I would like it or not, or at least the chances of me liking it or not, which is pretty slim.

QUOTE(HolySin @ Oct 5 2005, 04:27 PM)
Know that "new" movie coming out? The Fog.  Anyways, have you noticed that almost half of the horror movies coming out are just remakes?  Have you noticed that horror movie directors lost originality now?

Another thing is, why must they use computer graphics?  I'm sorry, but computer graphics make a movie look incredibly cheesy if it isn't realistic looking (which basically never happens).  Like I saw the preview for The Fog, and I saw the cheesy computer generated ghost and fog.  Good job, I shall be forever terrified of ghosts and fog that appear on my computer screen since they will never be found out in the wild.

Also, is it just me, or on every horror movie now, there's always a scene where it gets all silent and somebody whispers loudly, "Oh my god..."  I'm so sick of hearing that.

Next, the new form of scaring people seems to be showing an incredibly ugly creature, limbs flying everywhere (after effects), abduction, or just leaving the scene and returning to a corpse with no eyeballs or something.  Please, stop this stupid crap and actually show the process of the person being killed, maybe show the monster ripping the persons throat to shreds.

I've actually met people who said "The Grudge was like, the most scariest movie I have ever seen, like, oh my god..."  Guess what?! The Grudge wasn't scary!
Let's just look at its horror:
Ghost children - Check
Croaking or odd noise - Check
Haunted house - Check
People entering the house one by one - Check
Blood - Check
Anything scary - Uh oh, looks like the director forgot this one!

Qualities I've pointed out:
Remake - Check
Cheesy computer generated graphics - Check
"Oh my god..." line - Check
Absence of process of killing - Major Check

Seriously, if I made a horror movie, I would make it so that watching it could cause a heart attack, diarreah, cancer, or other stuff.  Yes, it would be that scary...

Scream 3 was not scary, all the Screams could've been good if the acting wasn't so horrible and if they didn't do the impossible.

Saw if anything to me was intense, not scary to me though, I can't really think of anything in that movie that even made me jump.

QUOTE(HolySin @ Oct 7 2005, 11:26 AM)
I actually watch comedy more often than horror, horror movies lately just bug me now.  Also, in horror movies, it almost seems like the people in that situation always evade doing the smartest thing, like, let's see, tell everybody, run away in a group (very cautiously).  Also, you do have a point, I don't have many fears, probably my biggest fear would be to be in an airplane and crash, but I hardly go on airplanes anyways.  Also, I couldn't help notice that Ultimo said "faceless" children.  The children weren't faceless, they were just Japanese kids who croaked...

ADDITION:
I've never heard of those art-house theaters, it catches my interest.  smile.gif

QUOTE(HolySin @ Oct 10 2005, 05:01 PM)
If I ever create a horror movie and the murderous force was something supernatural, I would NEVER show the face of the monster.  This just let's the person imagine anything that would scare them.  Probably show the glow of the eyes though, just not any other features, especially the mouth because if a mouth has a lot of teeth or looks weird, it's not scary, it's just stupid, and if the mouth looks normal or just opens wide, that too is stupid.  I should probably make a flash to give a mini expression of what could POSSIBLY be scary in a movie. (Of course it won't be scary, I've only seen one flash animation that made me jump due to the loud sound and sudden animation, Taken).

all youve done is bashed movie. you go write a script get a studio to purshase it get actors and a director. CAG is used to make it alot better, most movies wouldnt be anything with out it. i dont see how its a problem. they might not be scary but do you know if they where on a tight budget? i know most movies suck but still.

I only picked out select movies that I thought could have used a lot of improvement. Does that mean I hate every single horror movie out there? Of course not. For instance, even though I said Saw had corny acting, I thought it was good, hence why I'm going to see Saw II. Also, I said Amityville Horror was good, I'm not only bashing movies. I don't like computer graphics, costumes and make up just seems more effective. I should actually rephrase, I don't like anything in a horror movie that is purely computer graphics, I'm fine with doing touch-ups, just they shouldn't make it so obvious.

lol scary movies just arent scary anymore. The last time my heart actually jumped during a movie was like when i was 8. The only times a movie ever scares me is when i wake up in like 3 in the morning to go to the bathroom and i walk into my bathroom which is being remodeled and i see all the mirrors and the big hole in the wall where it's being torn down. And then i get pissed cause i have to take long pisses and its really creepy in that room. biggrin.gif
