Know that "new" movie coming out? The Fog. Anyways, have you noticed that almost half of the horror movies coming out are just remakes? Have you noticed that horror movie directors lost originality now?
Another thing is, why must they use computer graphics? I'm sorry, but computer graphics make a movie look incredibly cheesy if it isn't realistic looking (which basically never happens). Like I saw the preview for The Fog, and I saw the cheesy computer generated ghost and fog. Good job, I shall be forever terrified of ghosts and fog that appear on my computer screen since they will never be found out in the wild.
Also, is it just me, or on every horror movie now, there's always a scene where it gets all silent and somebody whispers loudly, "Oh my god..." I'm so sick of hearing that.
Next, the new form of scaring people seems to be showing an incredibly ugly creature, limbs flying everywhere (after effects), abduction, or just leaving the scene and returning to a corpse with no eyeballs or something. Please, stop this stupid crap and actually show the process of the person being killed, maybe show the monster ripping the persons throat to shreds.
I've actually met people who said "The Grudge was like, the most scariest movie I have ever seen, like, oh my god..." Guess what?! The Grudge wasn't scary!
Let's just look at its horror:
Ghost children - Check
Croaking or odd noise - Check
Haunted house - Check
People entering the house one by one - Check
Blood - Check
Anything scary - Uh oh, looks like the director forgot this one!
Qualities I've pointed out:
Remake - Check
Cheesy computer generated graphics - Check
"Oh my god..." line - Check
Absence of process of killing - Major Check
Seriously, if I made a horror movie, I would make it so that watching it could cause a heart attack, diarreah, cancer, or other stuff. Yes, it would be that scary...
You took the words right outta my mouth.
Wait till you see me movie script.

But I also have this beef, but it's with the ring. FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER. Not scary, funny. Super funny. I can't believe any thought it was scary.
Oh c'mon, don't do a comedy on the ring, I think Scary Movie 3 bashed it enough and people are probably sick of it. After all, the Ring 2 burried itself in its own cheesiness.
I actually prefer the more implied kind of horror rather than poeple actually getting killed. I think it has to do with the extent of my imagination versus the directors.
Yep.
I dont watch that many horror movies, but those ive had glimpses at are just boring now.
Scream 3 does show people dying. (Knife stabs, guns [at the end, it shows the person who is Scream died with bullet hole in his head.])
It's kind of scary....

Saw is the scariest movie I've ever seen. But it doesn't work on the stupid.
I thought the grudge was good and uh.... creepy.
Scream 3 was not scary, all the Screams could've been good if the acting wasn't so horrible and if they didn't do the impossible.
Saw if anything to me was intense, not scary to me though, I can't really think of anything in that movie that even made me jump.
You're watching at the wrong theaters. Go to those art-house theaters, they've got the best movies.
I'm sorry, but the Grudge fricking creeped me out. Maybe it's since I don't watch enough horror movies but I couldn't go into a bathroom with a window in it anymore for a couple of weeks lol. Yeah, I'm a sissy. There's just something about black-haired, faceless children that get to me. You probably just watch enough horror movies that you're immune to the effects of horror! AHHH! But I do agree, the recent waves of Horror Movies is odd. And they basically seem to have the same premise, but then again, hard to be original these days without someone complaining.
Ok Sin, Listen, You may think movies arent scary, ok , fine, good for you, but heres 2 thoughts, what if you were really in that situation, and what are all your fears, make a movie of then.
I actually watch comedy more often than horror, horror movies lately just bug me now. Also, in horror movies, it almost seems like the people in that situation always evade doing the smartest thing, like, let's see, tell everybody, run away in a group (very cautiously). Also, you do have a point, I don't have many fears, probably my biggest fear would be to be in an airplane and crash, but I hardly go on airplanes anyways. Also, I couldn't help notice that Ultimo said "faceless" children. The children weren't faceless, they were just Japanese kids who croaked...
ADDITION:
I've never heard of those art-house theaters, it catches my interest.

I meant you didn't always see their face since they had a tendenacy to either be facing their back towards you or extremely long hair...
I still don't see how that's scary, oh well.
They're the theaters that show 'indie' films. The ones not made by Hollywood
s.
I like the adrenaline rush from horror movies. Todays horror movies are becoming stupid because the killer is becoming stupid. also, horror movies are just an excuse to show T&A.
The Grudge wasent scary mostly. Little bits were abit creepy, it wasent too good

Your not a sissy. its just your mind playing with you. Happens to me too, i remember along time ago watching aliens, i just couldnt stop looking at the doorway in my bedroom when i went to sleep because i kept thinking about if an alien walked past there. There were many other times that horror movies had me freaked out in some parts wherever i went in my house. But hey, its the horror movie effect. Can really put you off something for abit

scariest movie i WATCHED is .... OH NO i forgot the name... let me think

um i forgot... but it was pretty scary yu know murderings in the night. A shrill scream. ghosts. yu know. im pretty much imune 2 it.
If I ever create a horror movie and the murderous force was something supernatural, I would NEVER show the face of the monster. This just let's the person imagine anything that would scare them. Probably show the glow of the eyes though, just not any other features, especially the mouth because if a mouth has a lot of teeth or looks weird, it's not scary, it's just stupid, and if the mouth looks normal or just opens wide, that too is stupid. I should probably make a flash to give a mini expression of what could POSSIBLY be scary in a movie. (Of course it won't be scary, I've only seen one flash animation that made me jump due to the loud sound and sudden animation, Taken).
heh. Loud sound can really annoy you. Even in SC maps, but it does give you a fright. If you were to make a horror movie, try and take some things you were afraid of as a child that no other person had.
No.
You want to try to make something that would apply to everybody's fears.
For example:
Little Timmy was afraid of chairs.
Obviously, trying to make a scary movie on this would be hard. More than likely, a person would die from laughter if they saw a chair beat down somebody, that or be incredibly confused.
Yeah, horror movies aren't as scary as they could be, i heard se7en was a good horror movie though. Btw, if you want scary, try watching those specials on TV about murder investigations, some of them are downright scary, especially since you know it happened in real life.

i havent seen a scary movie to this day that scared me. some that made me jumb cuz i was surpised
