I remember about half a year back there was a "Post the next number" topic. Things like that trigger me to lose faith in humanity.

That was a joke. And it was made by ihatett, and we can all recall, that at the time he was just being a complete prick and spamming tons of crap.

Me too. I bet people just posted completely random numbers.

You didn't miss anything. Ihatett was a completely arrogant, obnoxious, flamer-spammer.

The number thread got owned.

I think the OR game was O.K. Word Asociation is interesting, its like a huge game of telephone. Its interesting watching how the word topics change.

I'm getting real ticked off with the moderators closing topics left and right. Okay, they don't want spam...goodie for them. But they are shutting everything that isn't done, down! Now we can't even play forum games because of the PERSONAL opinion that it is worthless. IM having fun. If your not, then don't go in there. Null doesn't even friggin give us minerals. Just chill out. Let us have our fun or you won't have people here to have any fun. There is a difference between somebody actually NEEDING a topic locked and locking a topic just because you think its pointless. Not everyone agrees with you. Be adults and punish with REASON. Not because your angry, not because you personally don't like it, not because you think its worthless, but because serious rules are broken and it needs to stop. If we have to stop playing forum games i demand a reason why, and im not joking. You guys seriously need to rethink the purpose of SEN. Is it a business-like community or is it here to help people out on map making and to have a bit of fun in the process.

Furthermore, i would like to ask what is so bad about spam other than the fact it s annoying as hell? You guys make it to strict in my opinion, and when i express it like i am now...ill probably go into -minerals. This is censorship. Do it and im gone. You guys were put into your position by Yoshi and i don't believe he said, you guys are now the ultimate dictators of SEN. The mods will be the downfall of SEN if they don't lighten up and find some real lawbreaking to handle. Thats all i have to say for now.

#1 and #2. We are here to help new mappers, and we are a businesslike society as well. We let a little relaxing going on in the Null form, but we can't let too much spam.

What kind of question is that? Spam, like you said, is annoying as hell, and we try to stop it.

Topics in Null have to generate some interesting conversation, there is no point in cluttering our database with threads counting to 10000.

theres is about 2 things i dislike about moderators.

1. the person asks a simple question and then once a moderator replies, they start using language like crap, noob, you suck, idiot, etc. that are hurtful to one another.

2. moderators jumping into other forums that isnt there forum area.
once they see a forum that they dislike they reply in a hurtful way and then close it immediatly without anyone to post their oppinions.

if people aint getting it straight with the SEN rules then can you just link the SEN rules to the person that spammed or made a mistake then lock the topic.

also i sometime see things that arent in the SEN rules and still get in trouble.
you need to add the new rules so we can all not get in trouble.

Yeah thats another thing, mods can flame without penalty and we can't? wtf is that?

and in reply to battlekruser, it is pinned on the null section that spam is a post that has nothing to do with the topic. So we make the topics we want, and we post about them. It's not spam just because you guys don't like the topics. WE ARE STILL POSTING ABOUT THE TOPIC. Therefore, its not spam. Its just a topic thread that you guys don't like. Well sucks for you okay, you gave us null so we could talk about whatever we wanted to without getting a silly mineral reward and now you are limiting it to certain topics. Here is an idea, delete the topics that havn't been used in i dunno, lets say 6 months. That will free up a bunch of space if thats what you so worried about.

Null was never intentended for pointless discussion. It isn't your right to "use" it for whatever you want. I prefer to keep our database with an archive than.

"Let's count to a thousand!

1"

"2"

"3"

etc..

i see your point.
but who make a post about that anyways?
counting to a thousand isnt fun to do.

but what about the people that ask questions about things in life that arent related to starcraft. like why should we eat fruits and vegetables if were going to get sick anyways?

would that be in the lite discusion or null? i was thinking off making a forum that answers anykind of question that has been said.
saves alot of space.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2005-11-11 at 15:57:35
The null just isn't really a place for spam and all of that crap, it's for stuff that doesn't belong in any other forum. Just because you don't receive minerals doesn't mean you don't need to spam. It is still a semi-discussion forum.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2005-11-12 at 00:52:43
I think of null as a fun forum.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2005-11-12 at 01:00:37
If in doubt as to where it should go, post it in the "less serious" forum.
Serious vs Lite would go to Lite.
Lite vs Null would go to Null.

Can't really go wrong.
Anyway, if one of the mods thinks that its wrong, they'll move it to the appropriate place. Unless you're consistently posting topics that get moved on purpose, you won't be warned or anything.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by warhammer40000 on 2005-11-12 at 01:08:34
But let me make it final, DTBK, the number thread was a spam thread by the now banned ihatett, so get over that.

Now these discussions you have, ridiculous. I see you saying "Should we close the Music thread? I mean, it doesn't provoke much thought..." But WHO CARES if it "provokes thought" or not, the point is that its not spam, nobody complaining about it, and nobody has complained about it since March, when it was made. (comma comma comma)
Now for the rest of the topics, the point I just made I say once again. If it wont bother anyone, keep it! If we get another loser making the count to 1000 thread, close it! If we get an OR game, which nobody complained about but just participated in, keep it!

Ah, who will read this anyway. But thats what I have to say.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2005-11-12 at 01:10:08
I never see much lite discussion topics going to serious discussion, I do see a lot of Lite going to Null though.

Honestly, some people need to understand that we're not going to ban you just because we decide to move one of your topics from Lite Discussion to Null.

I'm using it as an example.

I tried to cover the finer points of how I see this divide in my addendum to the FAQ thread. I *think* Moose supports it..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Turin.oO on 2005-11-12 at 01:55:44
Let me just say this. The moderators will NEVER think that almost any of the topics we start in Null are "worth something". So we just can't do it anymore? Thats just bogus. Get a freaking life and do your job instead of extending your job to make yourself more important. the null section needs almost no supervision (obviously a little bit just in case of the occasional flaming and possibly another "count to a thousand"). Besides that, focus on the part that NEEDS policing. Don't make jobs just because you have none at the moment. Thats all im asking, that and to just let us do what we came here to do, have fun with starcraft maps.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2005-11-12 at 11:44:21
Finrod, seriously, stop trying to think that you can command moderators and stop crying just because one little topic was locked in the NULL. I'm getting sick of all the little flames and orders you present to moderators. You're lucky Yoshi isn't around now, because if he if was, you would be banned.

Who cares how the 'null' forum is taken care of anyhow? They need to be strict like that, or else if spammy topics were allowed, then more people would create them. And when more people decide to flood the null with worthness topics, let's say 5 new topics a day, the more constructive topics such as "Veterans" will be pushed down the list and ignored. But that's also not the full reason of course. Listen, the null isn't a place for spam, it's just a place where it fits into no other forum. I really think it should be called "Off-topic discussion" or "Off-topic," something near that. If you really would like complaining to the moderators, do it in a mature way, not "they need to gets a freaking life." That's a horrible thing to say. They help keep this site running and healthy while you want to insult them. I really think you owe an apology to all staff members. If not then I will completely lose respect towards you and to any other member that is also insulting them.
