I personally think it's their decision. You may not like it, but they're free to make their own choices. If the military starts forcing their way into public schools to recruit, then we have a problem...

This forum is too polarized either far left or far right. So few moderates around here. As far as I'm concerned, the military should sell itself. "You get a run and you can shoot people, just not ours. Okay? Just follow the orders we give you and you can kill people." Sure, you may not like it, but the fact is that people will wage wars so long as they have the technology to do so. All you need is alot of people and some weapons (even heavy stones can kill people).

ok we arnt really having a war at all. who are we fighting? terrorists? more like a supression of rebellion. yeah and it was THIER land in the first place.

we dont need more soldiers in iraq. we actually have too much over there, easier for the rebels. and i believe the death toll for soldiers hit 2000 not a while back. thats nothing compared to other wars.

You think I don't know that, you meanie? I AM a muslim. But this isn't about religion, this is about the American millitary needing more soldiers if it wants to do what it has to do. No matter how wrong its objective is, we don't have enough soldiers to patrol their entire goddamn country effectively.

America may be suffering minimal casualties, but the insurgents don't want to kill us. What they are aiming for is causing America to pull out of Iraq as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, if America pulls out, there are two factions violently opposed to eachother, the Sunnis and the Shiites/Kurds. And they WILL kill eachother even more if we pull out.

Insurgents: Want to take their country back.

If the school wants them there, so be it. If they dont, then don't have them there. I just think it'd be a bit hypocritical to have a JROTC and deny recruiters.

War should be reserved for noble causes. America should not be the 'World Police', we should pull the fark out and worry about our our farking country. 8 trillion dollars of debt is not economic stability. Nuetral is usually the best side.

Saddam was a potential threat, had he gotten nuclear arms (or kept, if you believe that). It was to our best interest to remove him and replace the government.

That doesen't change the fact that we're already in Iraq and have already farked up the country. We pull out, MORE PEOPLE DIE. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT? We have to stay the course for at least another five years.

I don't think miliatary recruiters should be allowed in schools. If you're interested, go to the nearest miliatry office or whatever.

What about some of the students who's only option is to join the military in order to pay for college, but doesn't have the resources to go to the recruiter location or its in another city?

Is it forced a seminar or one of those things that you can walk up to and ask about?

In every one that I've encountered, it's just a table or a booth that is set up somewhere (like in the hallway or lunch room) with 3 or 4 army recruiter guys. You can either walk up to them or they will stand up to talk to you sometimes. I think they are selective whenever they take action though, because they have walked PAST me to ask other guys to join. You are not obligated to do anything they ask. They're kind of annoying, but they don't really bother me much. Like I said earlier, if this is what we get instead of a draft, then I'm all for it.

snake you do know your wrong there, right? If you didn't notice... the insurgents are called "al-quada in iraq", notice they beheaded farking contractors, ran planes into wtc. So your gonna sit there and say that they ran planes into the wtc becuz they wanted us out of their country? didn't think so.

None of the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi. There is no creible evidence for an Al-Qaeda/Iraq connection. bin Laden hated Saddam fro his secular regime.
