In my opinion, there are no particularly effective ways to keep people from coming here. They have ground patrols, helicopters, checkpoints, satellites, motion sensors, tracking dogs, etc. All that stuff and many of them still get in. A wall/series of walls spanning the U.S.-Mexican border isn't really plausible.

As for people who come here illegally and refuse to learn English, don't pay taxes, and other things, here's an idea: Refuse them service. Refuse them medical treatment, benefits, rights, anything else that would be considered a service or right of a U.S. citizen.

Good idea, but there still isn't enough MEN to monitor all the equipment we got to protect ze border.

What about healthcare?

It's not cheap and it can't be refused. I doubt these immigrants could support themselves with insurance; healthcare's costs have gone up dramatically because of this problem (and others, but this is one of the reasons).

Eventually, this could lead to economic collapse as either hospitals are insurance companies will go out of business.

Of course, all of this is just the worst case scenario, it's still possible.

Sure that might be mean, but in my city, most mexicans in my school smoke pot and listen to rap and do bad in school...

This can be enterpereted in 2 ways. If immigrants are taking over, then most jobs to normal citizens will be lost, people will become more racist and turn to violence, and we might have segregation. But the fact is, we are all immigrants. We all come from a different part of the world. You could be from america but be full hearted german like me or like a quarter british. This is kind of a 50/50 question

yes it was... the spanish/mexicans had the land of california texas and several other states in the american southwest. many of them were native.

The Spanish and subsequently Mexican inhabitants were indeed living in the western areas (Texas, California, etc.) prior to U.S. settlement of the areas, but then we pretty much took the land from them. There was the whole Mexican-American War thing; we pushed straight to Mexico City, captured it, forced them to cede California, which then became a "free" state (i.e. free of slavery) in 1849. This was at the outset of the gold rush, and it also furthered tensions between the free and slave states, since prior to the admittance of California, the North and South were deadlocked in the U.S. Senate (15 to 15).

Texas is a whole different story, but anyway, you can't just ignore 40+ years of history, especially when it was part of the buildup to the American Civil War.

History lesson aside, this is a whole nation now, with borders, and they're still coming here illegally.

It was more of a debate on a technicality, considering you came off as claiming that the Mexicans were never in control of the land at any point.

Yeah sure Mexicans are everywhere and some people discriminate them because they're cutting our bushes and mowing our lawns and washing our cars but they chose those jobs and they chose to come to America. This is basically the same thing as when European immigrants came to America because it was the "freeland" and "land of oppurtunity." They were discriminated almost as much as Mexicans are. I dont mind them that much as long as they dont EXCEED hispanic population and start causing problems. They came to America just like any other Canadian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Afghanastani, Iraqi, French, German, Finish, English, Polish, Icelandic, Malaysian, etc. immigrant that ever set foot on America... Why are they in the spotlight now? There's not difference!

Yea there is, most European immigrants came legally. With south american immigrants most come illegally.
