Ciggarete companies are making money $$$$$ like that. jeez leik a pack these days are like almost 10 bucks. anyways, i dont support it, but i dont mind it. leave it legal, its not crack

They won't get many disorders or diseases at age 30, but wait untill you're 40, 50 and above. You'll start to feel it.

5 Minutes a ciggarette.

QUOTE(MillenniumArmy @ Dec 13 2005, 08:02 PM)
I honestly think they need to make a replacement for cigarettes.

Maybe use something else other than tobacco. Something perhaps, healthier or safer to use, but give off the same pleasure. That would be great... in a way

As I said earlier, if they REALLY want to make money with a healthier alternative, they should make an obvious way to get nicotine (gum, lollipops, something less harmful than cigarettes but more noticeable than patches)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Snake)Ling on 2005-12-14 at 16:57:18
Ok peeps, first off, it is NOT THE NICOTINE THAT IS ADDICTIVE. Look at the first post. Nicotine addiction from ciggies takes more than TWO YEARS? Yeah.

It is the HIGH that is addictive. Being happy is addictive MUCH more than the nicotine or tobacco would physically count for. If it didnt make you happy, it wouldnt be addictive. And nobody would smoke unless they were fooles.

And Dorkhawk, the goods of teh smokezorz? OUR GOVERNMENT GETS TONS AND TONS OF CASH FROM IT, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE?

5.59 billion dollars of taxes annually in addition to doubledigit billion dollars lawsuits. I would say it is teh lots of teh money?

And besides, in the end, Ciggies aren't a drug. Ask the feds.

No, I mean what is the point of smoking them..
How do you exactly get this happy feeling you get from smoking...
Seriously, it doesn't seem all that fun.
I'd rather eat a lot.

Smoking should not be legal. It's only positive effect was helping the economy. However, now our economy is sufficient enough to do without tobacco products. We shouldn't make something "less expensive" or "twice as deadly" because of something called second hand smoke. Smoking doesn't only effect the smoker, but others as well. Smoking also has detrimental effects on the environment. People argue that smoking helps them calm down during stressful situations, however, there are much better ways of dealing with stress. Smoking should not be legal.

Smoking releases dopamine, a neural transmitter which transmits pleasure.

AKA, smoking makes you happy. You want a like to a doctor saying it releases dopamine, and I'll give you it. Now STFU.

It's the psycological addiction that gets you first, but eventually (I dont think it takes 2 years) you get physically addicted, and can't function without it.

I still say we should go with my idea for a non-harmful way to get nicotine into the body.

I don't understand it. Why do people smoke when they know all they are doing is shortening their life? We seriously need to make the smoking an extremely expensive habit as it is already unrealistically high. But also the second hand smoking kills people. That isnt their fault their family members are smoking. But they have to smoke only because someone else you live with smokes. Like other drugs, the smoke shall be eliminated from public especially since it is tough enough keeping it off black market with the drugs. I say we, americans, try to stop smoking by a full fledged war against smoking. Just kidding. But I really dont want smokes nearby me at all...

Gum and lollipops would be a good idea.
But what else? What about Niccotine drinks!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Snake)Ling on 2005-12-15 at 20:19:24
AGAIN, THE NICOTINE IS NOT THE PRIME CAUSE OF ADDICTION.

The release of dopamine (aka happy cells) makes you addicted. Nicotine physical addiction from ciggies takes 2-3 years. Happy addiction is much shorter. The nicotine also doesen't even kill you. The actual ciggy does. But people cant break the habit due to T3h HAPPYNESS OF TEH SMOKE.

We dont really need nicotine gum or nicotine patches. What we need is some sort of medication that releases dopamine, and you take this medication in lower and lower doses instead of smokin', till you're no longer addicted. Either that, or... BINGO,

Don't smoke as much. Smoke 19 cigs a day instead of 20, then 18, then 17, etc... until you don't need teh ciggies. Worked and works for my grandmother, who is down to a mere quarter of a cigarette a day.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (DI)Yulla on 2005-12-16 at 15:55:41
So what you are saying is that we shouldnt blame the nicotine, but rather blame the dopamine? I never really knew that! Thanks for the idea...

But... It still comes down to the idea why do people start smoking when they are so expensive? And ironically, some of them knows what cigar does to you...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Snake)Ling on 2005-12-16 at 16:21:02
Who cares why they start? They make the government billions of dollars.

Bwaahahahahahaa! I swear, that's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
It's all about profit. Capitolism works against the consumer. They don't care how effed up their product makes you, they only want your money. Drug companies don't want to cure you of your disease, they want to temporarily cure the symptoms. You'll have to keep buying their product, just to feel normal.

People only smoke if they would like to die, pleasure death or to make them feel comfortable.

Smoking is bad, usually that people who buys the expensive stuff like cigars and such, it goes faster to their death. Usually, if you smoke too much, your lungs will burn black and turn out really nasty that would cause you to die by dried up burnt lungs. Who can survive a dry burnt black lungs?

For my Opinion is:

Tabaccos
Are
Bad
And
Can
Cause
Oxygen disappear

*sigh* The nicotine is the substance that releases the dopamine.

Edit: and nicotine is poisonous: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=nicotine
Also proving that it is the nicotine that's addicting.

dude... thats like an oxy moron...

the government gets trillions of dollars a year. and they find some way to spend it all not all of it goes to something good.

anyway the government doesnt really care about cigaretes. there has to be orginizations set up by the people to go against smoking. the only law that the government made against smoking is the age limit to buy it, and certain taxes upon buying it.

Nicotine is poisonous, indeed. They use it in pesticides, did you know? But in ciggies, the nicotine is in doses so small that it wont harm you. Unless, of course, they chain smoke an entine pack at a time or something. AKA, try to get enough nicotine to die.
