then whats the point having moderators that arent active or to do there jobs that they moderate?

plus we have a report system... should that make it easier?
one little vulgar language then bam.... ill report that person.

Whenever would you ever need to say the word? Can you justify using it?

The replacements look you make stupid because I'm a fan of satire.

Personally, I'm fine with the swear filters. They make me laugh, actually. It's just funny to me to read a flame war where they call each other cigarretes and roostersuckers. Anyone who's been posting here for more than a week knows what all the replaced words really mean, so it's not like we don't know what you're saying.

I don't swear much. I just use the light weights like hell and damn. But when you read a post and you see the uncensored F word, you can feel the sting of a flame, even if it's not directed at you. People feel differently about swear words. Some don't mind them at all, while others don't like them. I'll use myself as an example. Unless I know you VERY well, it will be hard for me to not take it as an insult if you called me a F---head, even if they were just joking around. If my best friend calls me a cockgobbler, I can laugh about it, but if someone I don't know that well calls me that, even if they were kidding, I would probably take it as an attack.

It's sometimes hard to tell what someone really means when they sling profanity everywhere, because the words are fighting words, IMO.

There would be no point in changing the swear filter to new words, because there would ALWAYS be someone to find fault with it. What makes one person happy will piss off someone else. I say keep em. People that get mad easily are funny anyways, it just adds extra comedy if their words are bleeped out. Jerry Springer wouldn't be nearly as funny without half of the show having that loud BEEEEP throughout it.

I dont swear a lot, but when I do, I'd like to be able to say it, rather than have some random word that makes me look idiotic.

I can't think of any specific examples, since i have to be in the mood to really say it (I dont go: 'OMFT YOU FARKING NOOB YOU NEED TO BE NOT A FARKING NOOB', but use it sparingly to get my point across. Like 'This particular program that the government intitutets is s***'.

but should we really have a choice.... to people accounts like if i want them off i can just go to my controll panal and turned them off. for some people that have virgin eyes they can just turn the swear filters on.

people are just going to flame anyways whether the swear filter is on or not.

I think they should be atleast like they used to.

i barly see any moderators that isnt in the forums by the names of mini moose and DT.
if you dont want to do all this work then recruit more active mods that can cover the holidays also. im here almost everyday reading the forums that i like.
if i can cover a clan forum then i can somewhat cover another forum.

Well, like what DT_Battlekruser said, the purpose for the swear filter is to make you look like an idiot than flaming.

It should be a big caps word like:

"IM AN IDIOT FOR USING A SWEAR WORD"
replacing Sh--
or

"EVERYONE LOOK AT ME IM COOL I CAN SWEAR"
for F---

They do. But you can't ban everyone they see spamming; half the members at SEN have spammed once in their lifetime on SEN.


I think I'll stay on the same track. What would the higher Starcraft powers say if they saw half of SEN getting warned and kicked from SEN?


I agree. But, of course, give moderators or something the power to take that ability away. Even regulars can have problems.

Thats the point. Make the swearer look dumb. Would be better if it also made the word uneditable too, of course.

id like to say get over it. Also the word filters only annoy me when there overused. i think fark should be the only filtered one and dont make it fark make it the censore image.

I kinda like having the Censored smilies, so if I saw more than three in a post, I could skip over it

I meant to disable the viewing of censors. Newbies would always see swears words censored, but if you (the regular) disabled the censor option, you would see regular swear words.
