Sure, we would all love to be moderators, but that isn't going to happen.
Try being here for more than a year before getting the thought into your head.
Did I mention you have to be a good member?

Yeah I know. I was fooling.

I jsut want to be an honored member, but not staff. Too much work to do, but the Moderators are working hard to keep the forusm alive.

The moderating team is good for now with the new promotions. Although MrrLL should go back to being DLDB keeper.

Being honored doesn't come from a year of posting.

did i mention that being a member over a year means nothing.

Ex. someone sign's up on Jan 1st/05 and then never posts until jan 1st/06 ..he wont get mod status just because he was part of sen for a year.

minimoose and all the mods look for people that are to their liking, active, a good roll model..and probably things we dont know about and they arnt likely to tell us.

btw MA, congratz.

from my point of view... i think you have to be loyal to one another in here.
mostly you have to be friends with administrators.

No. It appears I'm stepping up to a larger mod job than SEN can offer. tongue.gif Besides, maybe Rexy's on to something. or it could be her horrible bias against me.

Cat fight ;o

Yeah why is everyone on the band wagon to be a mod? This is talking about how there are too many. And being here for a year does shiz. You could be here for like 3 weeks but be so kickass and mature that all the staff loves you and you become a mod. If you sit around and do nothing for a year, or two years (Like my self in a few months) that doesn't change that you have no idea how to moderate fourms or keep DLDB steady, or code the website.
Join Date = Useless.
As for the acutally topic, overkill is better then having a chance of people spamming up the fourms with flame topics.

I didn't even know who IP was until he was claimed an admin.

Now that I am a DLDB keeper, it's time to fix the melee dldb.

You guys can help here.

Being here for about a year helps a lot.
Check how many tutorial managers, moderators, DLDB members, Global moderators, and Admins have been here for a year!
Now then, I'm not saying it's impossible to get "promoted" to one of the staff positions without being here for a year.. But seriously guys.. Being here for a good amount of time(Which I think is about a year.) will help your case a lot.

Well, I'd love to have more staff. But, I need to look at the reality. Let's face it, I'm not running around a place where one in five of everyone is a (U)Bolt_Head or BeeR_KeG. The need for new staff has to be balanced with standards that new staff being hired should meet... and I have to work with what's available.

Gosh, I understand you completely there! Really, just this week I was thinking about new StarCraft.org staff. It's so annoying that there aren't really that many model members.

The only inactive moderator I see is Coco. Other than that, most of them are pretty active and doing a good job.

Being here for a while will help your cause if you want to be moderator, but having a reputation for not flaming/spamming (0% warn uberwoot.gif ) and actually being respected will help (don't look at the SEN members you respect thread; only moderators usually get on there). Anyway, I think that yes, Coko should go off. He's not on at all anymore, at least not that I've seen. I think we have all the moderators we need ( sad.gif ), as well as DLDB keepers and Tutorial Keepers.
I think that this topic is ready for locking unless someone else wants to discuss anything, we got our answers.

Being here at SeN for a long time doesn't do anything, take me as example.

I joined in July 04
By late August 04 I was Mod of several forums (but was taken out due to people complaining too much and that I was too young for the site) [1.5 months]
On late October 04 I was DLDB Keeper [3.5 months]
On December 04 I was Global Mod [5 months]

What really matters is that you contribute a lot to the site (not in amount of posts), you are well known by the Staff//Admins, you have propper grammar, reputation and most important of all: trust. If the Staff//Admins don't entirely trusts you, you can kiss that Staff//Mod position goodbye.

Sure, back when I joined there were far less members, but there were people that had been way more time than me on the site.
