I'll either make boats be able to go over ground or make them confined to rivers in a way that kills them if they go on land. Obviously the first choice sounds better.
There are many Diplo AOEs.

Wait, did I read that right? Boats being able to go over ground? Thats doesnt sound better then boats being confined to...I dont know, maybe water?

No Flying Boats!!!! Just dont let them go on land, if they go on land center a location on them and order them to that location so they just stop.

I have my own way.

It's hard to do what you're suggesting, Shady - a proper virtual wall system can't really handle a unlimited number of boats, or you might get a situation where your boats simply get stuck on land and you can't move them - which is no better than them dying.

What I'm thinking of is to place a series of "water marker" units around all the shoreline, so that any boat that goes onto land can be ordered to go back to a nearby 'water marker' (which will be in the water nearby) - which may be better than simply getting the boats to stop. It might be a little unit-intensive to do this, though, depending on how densely you place the 'water marker' units and how much shoreline there is.

The map looks like it'd be pretty fun though; at least beating the current AOEII maps.

Sounds like this map will be good, but I think I'll stick to my AoE2, too bad AoE2 has nearly no online activity and being on a team with someone doesnt give you an advantage. why couldnt they have done a decent job on the multiplayer portion ofthe game?

Yes I read about it NOT being a diplo, but it fits the genre

But anyways, I know how your gonna do boats, - cough - shore is low terrain, boats that go on mid or high die - cough -

You haven't even worked on the map yet. Please do at least 50% of the whole map before you post it in in production forum... It may be good though.
