Those war-style games are fun, but not the ones with upgrades and powerups and crap. That can take a while and can suck for the person who is doing bad.

Lol revalade, I was going to post something about that picture until I read the caption. Very nice save ^_^.

When i was younger, me and a few friends/family played board games everyday like it was a prarty...that was when we were kids now...playing board games like monopoly, life, goosebumps, jamunji(if thats how you spell it), chess/checkers, guess who, and probably some other ones too...Had a good time playing them. Now that were in college and everything we've grown pretty tired of them or don't have time to mess around with 'kiddy games'.
I still like them though, i wouldn't mind playing them with someone when i have the time. Now i see this wierd HeroScape board game being advertised on televsion...not sure whats that about but looks fun...

Even with the 5 turn thing, the game can go for HOURS. We started at 3:30 and ended like at 7 on the 4th year because we had to go. It has a lot to do if people thought about what they plan to do before it's their turn. If you want to, you could always play for-the-world Risk because the map is the same. Just don't use the water or the moon.

Yeah, I understand what you mean Merrel. It's not fun playing for hours, when you know you already lost in the first 10 minutes. Having more opponents however means people might team up against the winner.

Heroscape looks interesting, but those pieces are EXPENSIVE and you have to keep buying more of them, kind of like card games like Magic. When I played, you have to roll a bunch of dice that determines what you do. What was really odd was that you have to actually MEASURE with a ruler, how far you can move and how much splash damage you do. That seems pretty tedious to me.

I really don't see why board games have a bad rap. It's like a computer game, except the players do all the calculations and you can see it physically. The computer screen emits radiation as well.

It's cheaper than, has more replay value and can be played with the people currently with you. The problem is that the rules might take a while to learn, instead of being streamlined, like video games.

ADDITION:
Ugh... today was terrible.

We opened the box and stamped out all the pieces. We placed all the pieces on the board and... had absolutely no idea what to do. After an hour or so, we just gave up on A&A. Perhaps I need to read it over some more.

There's just so many rules to learn such as blitzkrieg ability on tanks, artillery bonus on infantry, first strike on submarines...

It's like playing starcraft, but having your brain know all the functions like how ghost can cloak, battle cruisers fly, ugh...

I'll just stick to Risk and Cosmic Encounter for now. I'm not a fast learner unfortunately.

We ordered pizza and I got thing crust of course (the best). We then played some Fight Night Round 3 on my friend's 360, then some Jumper!, then some FEAR (both on PC) and some Soul Calibur 3 on the PS2.

It hits me that video games do all the calculations for you. If people tried doing these calculations, it might be harder, but it would make them smarter.
