Its an honor to have Clokr_ making this program with us. You guys should be a lot more thankful, because we'd be using some stupid other protector that doesn't work properly, too hard to use or is unprotectable to n00bs.

The concept of unprotection doesn't apply to people who hex. Map makers protect their maps to mainly keep them away from n00bs. Because all they do is use some program like SCU, hit one button, resave and they're done. Now they can change your name, unbalence the map, or screw it up.

When it comes to someone who can hex, chances are they're a bit smarter and won't do all that stuff. Even if they did, the chances of the map "catching on" go down.

Hey evilopel, try gloating a little more.  I don't think you're smug enough.

I agree, even though I haven't read most of the posts here. More smugness is always good. biggrin.gif

Yeah. So is sarcasm (what I wrote above, if you can't figure it out).

Clokr_, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Thank you for making ProEdit. You're my hero.

I finished string filtering. See how it works biggrin.gif

It will let you fix that bug that staredit have, that when you remove a sound it doesn't remove its string. Kill Me! have 30 unused strings!

I'm just confused...

Don't worry, I'll explain it in the help file happy.gif

Clokr_, I want to have your baby. This is exactly what I hoped it would be.

Clokr_: Agreed, for now, it's one of the safest. Besides, n00bs probably won't bother hexing anything.
Nozomu: You're letting the fame of the protector blind you with reality. You also don't manage to see the truth.

I was merely commenting on the fact that only a couple of things were changed with the protection and that you only need to edit one of them (which takes less than 15 seconds to find, select, and delete) to use the SCU method. I'm not usually this aggressive, but I hate when people defend their pointless comments.

The toGi protector was also pretty good. It was easy enough, very hard to unprotect, and works perfectly (even has more than one method).

And makes maps a lot bigger. I know, I already hacked its protection. In 15 minutes I had a list with everything that it does. It sucks, it protection is worse that guedit's one, just that have that super-large false wav section that messes SCU. And? I'll make proedit's protection better, be sure.

Yeah, it's true. No, the WAV section isn't the only thing that makes it bigger. It has a couple uber-big false sections, depending on what the protection it picks to use. It also heavily screws up the verification code section.

These are the sections it likes to "juggle": MTXM, WAV, TECx, and about 8-13 copies of false sections between the false WAV section and the THG2 secion.

Besides, you're one to say. You're the one who made PROEdit screw with the UNIT section in previous versions tongue.gif .

In theory, anything can be taken down by SCU.

If you dont know how to hex edit shut up happy.gif
That "copies" are not between the false WAV and the THG2 one, they are inside the huge WAV section, that is not hard to delete. It also messes something in the last sections (makes a copy of one of them). I didnt listed the other things because even GUEdit did that. Now, can we stop this discussion?

Yeah, it screws the last sections up bad (I don't know what it does myself).

As a side note, wtf was Heimdal smoking when he decided to mess up the dimensions of the map as a part of his protection?

Who said I'm letting fame get in the way of reason? Clokr_ is my friend and I appreciate all of the hard work he's done for the community. Also, the compression feature is exactly what I hoped it would be. So it's not false appreciation just because of fame. This is actually a very useful tool for me.

Well, I was responding to your "gloating" statement, being mad and everything. I was just commenting on how Clokr_ hasn't changed much (no insult intended, Clokr_) in the protection, when you misunderstood the statement and thought it was me gloating about how I know what to change (trust me, there isn't much).

Overall, sorry if I offended either you or Clokr_.
