I think you should leave the story to Golden, no offence but that was ....more then dissappointing.

Duran is the only one that dies. I said I would explain it! Trust me, it makes sense!

ADDITION:
Alright, I just re-read my story, and I admit it: it completely blows. I just came up with it off the top of my head, and it's really crammed together and doesn't work well with the characters at all. I actually went out to get a sandwich, and the whole time I was thinking "What the hell was that that I just wrote?"

But it does make sense.

So, when they "rescued" Stukov from his infestation in "Ressurection," he reacted a little bit upset about it at the time, but he went with them. He also would definitely hold a grudge against Duran for trying to kill him. The idea that I had would be that Stukov hated being so powerless, so insignificant. He hated it to the point where, in the mission following the one I described, he would show up on Kerrigan's doorstep and allow himself to be reinfested, maybe even because the nanoserum didn't work entirely: the infestation could still have some small grip on the back of his mind. Thus, replacing Duran as Kerrigan's sidekick. tongue.gif

Another thing that would be significant about Duran dying is that now the Hybrids will be without a leader, and will lash out against everyone randomly. I thought about having them all gather over time around the temple on Shakuras (since that's where they would be drawn by the power that had been controlling Duran), and maybe even grow an entity similar to an overmind.

Duran says he serves his masters--the Hybirds. I'm pretty sure Duran isn't the leader.

Return of the Xel'Naga!

-- Hybrids own Xelnaga again because xelnaga's are hapless and gets owned by their countless failed experiments!

No, I'm pretty sure he controls them. He CREATED THEM for God's sake! I think that the Xel'Naga are controlling him, though. Here's something I wrote in the SCR staff forum about it:

QUOTE
My theory behind this is that when the Protoss used the temple (which so conveniently happens to be Xel'Naga)it released a kind of spiritual memory of the Xel'Naga.  While it is known that they were destroyed, Duran plainly states that he is in the service of a "far greater power than you could ever imagine (to Zeratul in the bonus mission)" or something like that.  So I was thinking that maybe some force released from the temple was responsible for yanking him out of Kerrigan's control and enslaving his mind.  It would make sense, because the Xel'Naga were all about genetics and trying to create the "perfect race".

So maybe they're trying to get Duran to finish what they had started...

ADDITION:
Plus, how else would he free himself from Kerrigan's control? I'm pretty sure that Duran is just playing the role of a Cerebrate for them.

Could have been his plan to betray the UED all along to go to kerrigan and then be part of his plan to betray kerrigen.

My point is, you don't just walk away from someone who is controlling your mind! crazy.gif She had power over him, at least for a short time. closedeyes.gif

ADDITION:
The reasons for them controlling him are:

a.) He has telepathic abilities
b.) He is alive, they (the Xel'Naga) are not
c.) He was in a position of power already

The Zerg never found the XelNaga Homeworld. for all i know, xelnaga maybe alive.

Xel'Naga didn't have a homeworld. They traveled in ships only. It states plainly in the "History of the Zerg" that they killed the entire race.

I agree with the theory of Duran being a Xel'naga. It could be that the hybrids are just another race that the Xel'naga are attempting to create in order for them to create 'the prefect race'. Since the Zerg have been gifted with essence and the protoss has been gifted with form.

Man, poor Duran... if he really was infulenced by the Xel'naga. He could have possibaly be a Xel'naga all along...

That's exactly what I'm saying. biggrin.gif

Golden-Fist and I have moved our discussion to a different site. Thanks to everyone who posted here. smile.gif

Or it could be that the Xel'naga wants new bodies, putting their 'souls' into the hybirds or something, so they could live agian. There might be 4 races in starcraft 2.
