QUOTE(DT_Battlekruser @ Mar 29 2006, 11:27 PM)
As Chris said, the ignorant Mexicans are screwing over our schools.  According to a recent statistical survey, 25% of California students in grades K-12 are actively enrolled in ELL or related classes.

Here's a quick question. If you're complaining about how the kids don't know how to speak english, where else are they going to learn it from? The parents that barley speak english? And don't say "A BOOK" because you can read words but if you don't have anyone around to correct you when you screw up there's really no point, unless if you like the idea of people speaking with horrible grammar/pronoucition.

QUOTE(TheDaddy0420 @ Mar 30 2006, 12:39 AM)
You think too generally though.  The topic was Illegal immigration, so the only people i am/would be talking about are illegals.  Why would I have a problem with legal immigrants?

I gave up on you.

QUOTE(Snake)Ling @ Mar 30 2006, 02:55 PM)
Now then, theft is illegal. So we jail thieves. Illegal immigration is illegal. Why don't we jail them, too? They steal money that could be used for legal immigrant's and American's educations.

Jailing someone is because of a law that citizens of america agreed to when they became part of the country. So they get treated like an american would if they break them, if you're not from america, why would we jail them in america? That's why we just send them back.

Golden- Fist, you're putting words in TheDaddy's mouth. He hasn't said anything racist. Racist Definition

They are stealing our jobs and hurting the economy. They aren't US citizens and don't pay taxes (I think). Wouldn't it make more sense to give a citizen of the US a job over an illegal immigrant?

QUOTE
And if we can't catch a fake card then it's just proving how lazy americans are

Why do you always stereotype Americans?

QUOTE
You're no longer a US Citizen, if you want to go around cutting things away from people and making generalizations of people because of how they look, talk, or even smell. Make a time machine and join the Nazi Machine, I'm sure you'll end up right with the rest of the the people who beleived in your logic, six feet under.

All that he said was that is it our problem that they need jobs? Again, how is he being racist there.

QUOTE
You immidietly assume anyone who doesn't speak english, or is from Mexico is automatically an immigrant.

No he didn't.

QUOTE
That's right good buddy. 57% of the West Coast, is Hispantic

Get your facts right, it sais that it has INCREASED 57%.

QUOTE
Again, just because they have hispantic backround, doesn't mean they're illegal.

Again, I don't see where he ever said that everybody who is hispanic is illegal.

QUOTE
I called you racist because you showed quiet blantantly in all your posts that if someone didn't speak english or had a hispantic backround that they were automatically illegal

I can't seem to find that...

QUOTE
If you're complaining about how the kids don't know how to speak english, where else are they going to learn it from?

He's just putting some facts on the table, he's not complaining about anything.

I agree that the illegal immigration is becoming a big problem. I'm kind of glad that they are taking action to preventing it.

Holy crap, was I just defended? YEAH!!!!

Anyway all I want is a secure border as in the only way to get into this country is LEGALLY.

Geust worker programs
Little easier on legal immigration to encourage it
Punish businesses for knowingly hiring illegals
Punish 2nd-3rd time we catch the same person crossing illegal or already illegal and in the United states.

I would say my ideas are pretty fair.

Sweet lord jesus, daddy was defended! This is a day of days...a day of days. blink.gif

Since I'm too lazy to go research it myself, I've decided to just ask it here.

What exactly is the difference between legal immigrants and illegal? Like, what must you do to become legal?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2006-03-30 at 21:14:46
lol I just thought it was unfair to be called a racist. tongue.gif

I'm pretty sure that in order to become a legal immigrant, you have to file a bunch of paperwork and take the US Citizenship test (if thats the name of it). Not really sure on what else.

Has to be more than that. Cause if that's it.....................wtf

Today many high schoolers from our city (primarily the hispanics,) didn't go to school today and pretty much protested in our downtown. I had no problem with that, but what I did have a problem with is that they were carrying a big mexican flag.

IMO I think that's stupid. If anything, carry an AMERICAN flag. By carrying a Mexican Flag, basically you're saying "Let us Mexicans in! Let us Mexicans in!" Whereas carrying an American Flag is basically saying "Let us [americans] open our doors! Let us open our doors to immigration." Whose attitude would you find better? The first one where people, from the immigrant's point of view, are forcing our Government to let them in? Or the second one where people, from the US resident's point of view, want their country to be able to let people in?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Demaris on 2006-03-30 at 21:33:18

Personally, I find it funny that most immigrants know more about the basic rights of America than people born here naturally.

Just a bunch of sad statistics about how stupid America is:
http://www.rrmtf.org/mtf/pressroom/2006/Su...ults_Report.pdf

And don't try to tell me illegal immigrants caused that.

People take for granted what other people have never even experienced. Mexico City is a haven for corrupt politicians and drug dealers. If Mexicans want to come across the border to get a decent education and a better job, can you really begrudge them? To immigrate, you have to demonstrate a knowledge of englsh. What if you can't get the schooling to learn english? It seems pretty elitist to deny the things to others you are assured of in your day to day lives. Things like a decent education, clean water and a good job. What if YOU were in that situation? You couldn't speak english, had no way to LEARN english, and was slowly starving to death? I'm also rather suprised at DTBK. I thought he would be more understanding to the plight of others, being as smart as he is. Intelligence shouldn't breed callousness.

Demaris, its not our place to provide anyone jobs.

Also to become an American citizen you are (I think) required to:

Live here for at least 7 years
Learn english
Take many tests
wait in line with other people trying to become citizens
Be reviewed by a panel of who knows who
more things like that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Demaris on 2006-03-31 at 03:00:58

It's not our place to give other people jobs? Is it your place to help a neighbor who is being robbed? That kind of apathy is what causes most of the Anti-Americanism in the world. Since when does it have to be "your place" to help someone?

Oh, and saying how difficult it is to become a US citizen only helps my point.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheDaddy0420 on 2006-03-31 at 09:13:04
Proves your point how? If they want to come here, come here legally its just that simple.

Golden-Fist.... where do I start...

For the first time ever... I'm glad I read your posts! Calling Chris racist was right on the mark. Chris you are a bit racist in your thinking. Your probably like the 3/4 of america that thinks someone is illegal because they speak another language. In all actuallity, illegal immigrants and those that are legal have raised our economy. As said earlier they do the jobs we don't want to do. They do them for lesser pay as well. Sending the money back to mexico still helps our economy. They have to be changed into mexican currency. By your thinking, you think that for it to help the economy, it must stay within US Borders. That is not true. Do you think people who travel and bring cash are destroying our economy? If so, you need to brush up on your economics.

BTW Chris, you have proven Demaris's point. and no, itsn ot that simple to come here legally. For those illegal immigrants who come here (the ones not smuggling drugs), its because they can't afford to become legal, or they don't qualify for some reason, or just can't provide something needed.

also Chris... what Demaris stated as requirements are to JUST GET INTO our country. How are they supposed to live here for 7 years if they can't even get in? Illegally of course is the only way. He's right, as some of us already thought/knew. You are elitest.

Also urmom, they are actually HELPING the economy. They aren't hurting it. I figure, ya they may not pay taxes, but they also make less then minimum wages. I only say he has racist point of views simply from all the posts he has made over the year(s). Also urmom, it actualyl makes more sense to give an illegal immigrant a job over a US citizen. a) They accept lower wages, b) They work just as hard, if not harder, c) Do not complain as much as a citizen would. I don't see any logic you have for this subject. Its obviously not there. Don't know about you, but I don't consider myself an American citizen, but a citizen of the world.

If those mother farkers sneak into my country, I can throw them out. Why are they taking advantage of what the public pays for, like public education? Here's some education: PASS THE CITIZENSHIP TEST. I'm with Tancredo. Let's build a wall between us and Mexico happy.gif

For once I take a conservative stance.  I'm sick of immigrats who come here illegally, steal jobs, and don't bother to learn our language so we have to write our signs in Mexican and teach it to our children.  They're illegal immigrants.  Send 'em back to where the came from and good riddance.

Harsh, but damn right.

I don't care who does it. Just as long as someone does it. If you seriously lose your career job to a person who can't speak english, chances are, you had a shizty ass job.

Seriously, look at what jobs they're stealing. Lawn maintenance, roofing, tile, basic construction. Ya, they're stealing major career jobs over here. You're really gonna be moving up in life with those dead end jobs. disgust.gif

30 year old loser: Well, those are the only jobs I can get!

If you're over 30, and all you can get is shizty as jobs like that, it is 100% you're fault. There are very few excuses you can use.

Jobs like dishwashing, land keeping, picking my fruit, and all of our best jobs taboot biggrin.gif

Yeah, if anything they're just seperating themselves from us, but they want in our country, they want our hospitality, but they can't call themselves americans...

Ya, who was the fool that said. "Hey, let's use our nation's flag!" Whoever said that, should be kicked in the nuts. Seriously.

But with this new law, 2 of my friends may have to go back to mexico because their parents are illegals.

I almost forgot about this thread.
Yeah so I got more information on the law and putting that with what DTBK and other people said it makes more sense.
Sorry?

No, I can't believe this is sooo predicted again. You have no bases for calling me racist. How, how have a been racist? How have I been racist by wanting a national law enforced? A law that does not discriminate. Im sorry I want a border. Just becuase I disagree with you is in no way causing me to be racist. Im pretty sick and tired of people using the race card.

If the border was enforced, there would not be an illegal immigrant problem, hence the many unemployed in this country would have those job oppertunities. They my not take those jobs, but the jobs are still open. I would rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Loser_Musician on 2006-04-11 at 12:33:42
Daddy you're not racist, you're enforcing the law because you think it help the economy. If that's your main reason, I can respect that.

But there is another reason, the real reason why this getting passed. Racists still live in america, some still make laws, some still own buisnesses, and some still live in trailers and go to my school. If you look at this issue, you'll notice something. The people who are enforcing this law are mainly 2 groups:

People like daddy
or just your average racist

And one of those groups came up with the idea of this law. And I'm pretty god damn sure which one it is.

If you think about it, the only real way to enforce racist laws now a days, is to through in national security and/or the economy. If I was a racist incharge of making laws, that's how I would do it.

I KNOW they don't hurt the economy. My neighborhood is 2/3 hispanic, if not more. And the funny thing is, the place RIGHT NEXT TO US, houses some of the most millionaries in the entire world. Not only that, but we also have been one of the fastest growing towns in america for the past few years. This would not have been possible if it was not for my friend's parents.
