Staredit Network -> Polling Booth -> The Dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2006-03-31 at 16:54:11
Wow how many years old is this joke? 100?

Let's not ban water, let's ban stupid topics like this and the stupid people that create them.

Thats plain sad that more people voted to ban it than to not in the last poll, although I havn't read the topic, so perhaps theres more to that than pure stupidity.
And I second the "how old is this? 100 years old?" statement, I first heard this at least 3 years ago, and it was an old joke back then.

It actually DOES kill 1000s of people though..drowning and.. "stuff."

Whoa, is it me, or was Beer acting a little 'different' in that thread? He was all like "Remove that HTML or I'll increase your warn level" biggrin.gif

It's because people didn't even think of thinking of dreaming of thinking about complaining to a mod back in 2004. Today, I say that and we'll have another hate thread in the Feedback and 2 threads regarding that one in the Staff and then Yoshi comes in here and everybody "suddenly" agrees with the Staff.

Tru.dat. Well, people can just behave. Creating a hate thread about just every moderator, [after being banned twice, and is now unbanned, *cough*] shows no respect at all to the website. That really just shows they shouldn't belong here. It doesn't mean you're doing a bad job. That's only what they want you to think. People just try to down other's feelings.

Oh, sorry for the off-topicness. Oh wait.. there WAS no topic, was there? tongue.gif

Replace Dihydrogen Monoxide with Hydrogen Peroxide. I would laugh.

dihydrogen monoxide is water. i can't believe 12 people wanted to get rid of water...

13. Half of the people who voted fell for it. Come on. Cardon Dioxide is CO2, and everyone knows that one. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out what Dihydrogen Monoxide is. Next we'll need to start a poll on the dangers of Dioxide. That stuff is flammable, a major component in combustible compounds, is dangerously addictive, and can easily be produced merey by growing the right plants. NO ONE is doing anything about it. tongue.gif

Umm.....

Ok Di means 2. so 2 hydrogens. mono=1 so one oxygen. H2O is water. Very nasty stuff if you ask me.

Now carbon monoxide or something else is bad but if water is banned from industies....

Aww, you beat me to it...

Actualy, this very clearly shows that there IS a problem - people too often just agree with others because they sound smart without actualy thinking about what they're saying. That's a big reason propoganda and governmental deceptions work(such as showing statistics that mean practicaly nothing when you spend more than half a second thinking about them).

But I think more than half the people in here already knew the joke...

We should do like... Sugar. It has a lnog and complex molecular structure, and I'm sure people would agree.

Maybe...

C6H12O6 (Glucose) is not that big. Hexacarbon decahydride hexoxide? I'm guessing thats wrong. Fructose is twice the size.

Now if you get into fatty acids or proteins they can be in the thousands of molecules.
