The human population on our planet has increased tremendously over the last 200 years. So much so, that only 40 years ago, we had less than half the people on the planet than we have here today. Each second, we are adding almost three people to the earth. In other words, we are increasing our population by 170 people per minute, 10,000 per hour, and an astounding 240,000 per day. In October of 1999, we broke the 6,000,000,000 humans barrier.

You are not offering any surprising facts or new arguments. But the numbers, nevertheless, always astonishes me to know there is more that 6 billion people today..

Lets now discuss the roots of this problem. The population boom started as the industrial revolution took place in early 1700s (i believe). It allowed more people to live in a smaller places. There, it cause steady, but nevertheless, population growth in europe and other developed countries at the time. But, as it reaches today, the third world countries are reaching the industrial revolution. As these countries and nationslike skip all the steps before and skip the educations all people need, all the people are born without control. It is a bit like cancer in these sections. Because tehre were so many third world countries such as china and india, this sudden rise seems so... great and dangerous. The media, without educating the people, only reached its primary goals to sell their products to poor people. This ended up being a mass chaos in the developing nations as one family started consisting of more than 7 or 8 people. And then, religion jumps in. Christianity, probably one of the most powerful religion in southeastern asian nations, creates moral codes to NOT abort the unneeded babies and rather make more babies. This also contributes to the increasing danger. This entire thing results only in enormous wealth for riches and leaders. Then the gap between the two extremes only grow.

I will restate the reasons for this sudden boom in population.
- sudden industrial revolution in poor nations
- media flooding for marketing in the nations
- religion creating moral codes for more babies
- uneducated family creating more babies.

What we can do to this problem is to sit and watch. Unless we can get mass volunteers to each nations to support and educate all human beings in the developing nations to slow down the progress for a little bit, the problem will not solve. Unless great leaders emerge in the developing nations to stop sudden growth and continue with international affairs and trades and such, the problem will not solve. But this entire process will eventually slow down as the time passes and message is spread to the masses in developing nations.

Those hardly contributed.

The thing that contributed the most was the advancement in medical aid.

how does media flooding cause more people to be born?

It is not the actual media flooding that causes the overpopulation, it is the stuff they bring in, for example, large chain food restaurants like McDonalds. These restaurants eliminate the hunger issue, therefore making more people.

But I would rather say the medical advancements and uneducated mass is the general reason for the overpopulation.

I think that all overpopulated countries with more than a certain amount of percentage per area should have a type of law that keeps them from having too many children, Ex- China! anyone agree on this?

china does have that law. you can only have one child, unless its mentaly retarded, then all you can have is one other.

The easiest way to counter this problem is birth control like china is already doing. however poor 3rd world countries not everyone can buy condoms or birth control chemicals so babies are continuing to be born in already starved nations.

There is no easy way to counter this overpopulation and we will eventually deplete most of the earth of its resources.

well starving men and women usually can't have children anyways. So birth control would probably be a very effective measure.

we wont run out for a long time

Correction: We wont run out of water ever. We never actually lose water, it is still there, the only reason water costs money is because of the cost of transportation, otherwise it would be completely free.

UHhh, people don't starve because there is no food, they starve because there isn't enough money to buy the food, McDonalds hasn't given it's 2 cents to help end world hunger, ever.

Over population isn't a concern of today's generation. We'll all be dead before it begins to matter. Unless you're immortal, like Dema. In which case you don't really care anyway.

um we cant run out of water but it can be overused...it is possible that we can be so overpopulated that we do not have enough water for everyone to drink

Overpopulation? Were you smoking when u put this in serious discussion... No I don't think we have anything to worry about for a long time. For all we know a freakin super storm could wipe us all out like in The Day After Tomorrow. I would say don't worry about overpopulation, it's a joke.
