Staredit Network -> Games -> Is the Nintendo Game Cube Dead?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by L-inspecteur_Chocolat on 2006-07-11 at 18:10:22
I've never played Splinter Cell.
Mario Kart isn't bad, I havn't tried the broadband connection with it though. There is a tool that lets you connect to a server and play Mario Kart online. Of course, requires the Broadband adapter.

I don't think Bounty Hunter is great. It became boring very fast. :/ There are plenty of other Star Wars games though.

For endless fun:
Find PSO Ep. 1&2 at a resell shop and get yourself a broadband adapter. You can go online and play with over a hundred other users by connecting to a private server called schthack. You can also load homebrew on the cube with that type of connection. That'll give you hours of fun. You could also use PSO1&2 to make your own Action Replay codes for other games. Even if you can't get a connection established, single player will keep you satisfied for a long while.

Yea but the revolution sounds ALOT cooler, does ANYONE know why they changeed the name?

Because it was just the project name, such as the GameCube's project name was Dolphin.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, hehe.

It's just that PSO12 is still a lot of griding for items that you'll probably never get...

I'm trying to make some backups of my games on my pc, but that stuff is pretty complicating...

Nintendos main concern is the ds and the upcoming wii. why make a new game cube game when you can make one for the wii or the ds? I could ask you why there arent any new n64 games.

It's not so complicated at all. Look for Phoenix Loader, it's fairly easy to use for backing/booting games. It also lets you load N64 and NES roms, though the only N64 rom I can get to work is Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Booting from the PC won't allow you to save in some games though, and may cause your memory card to corrupt sometimes.

The best way to get a good GC/PC connection is using a crossover cable and plug it right in to your PC. Don't forget to configure the IP addresses on both the PC and Gamecube, as well as in the options of the loaders and tools.

Nintindo lost my intrest once they realeased gc... They were doing fine until that cruddy product. I didn't even look into anything after that like the ds..... I'm not even going to give nintindo anything about their next product until i try it...(i bought gc w/o using one and I was sorry) whereas xbox and ps I will most likely buy w/o trying it... Anyways... yes nintindo gc is dead along with nintindo until they produce a quality product.

stupid.gif Nintendo destroys ps and X in gameplay. Nintedo isnt dead your just speaking out of ignorance. Want to talk about quality? a ps2, an Xbox and a gamecube are all hit with a hammer, who wins? gamecube. now thats quality. Ps just keeps digging a deeper grave. Theyre e3 conference probably lost em thousands of sales due to the fact that it was crap, the new ps3 costs how much? 599 US dollars. Have fun spending all your money. Nintendo is pwning in sales and the ds lite is doubling psp in sales.

Jello your logic is messed up. Take the first computers for example. Just becuase they took up the whole room doesn't mean everything released after them by the some company is going to be crap.

Wii is pronunciated like "We", I mean, "We are playing with... We! (Wii)! That's the reason for the name. Nintendo isn't stupid... but I waited that, Revolution was only a codename. At beggining, I felt "Wii" like crap, but I now like it. It will be my first new generation console.

About the topic: GameCube is, if not dead, almost dead. TLoZ: Twilight princess have been now trasfused to Wii too. It will appear on gameCube, but in Wii you can use his special and revolutionary pad. But if you don't play it too much, I have a chance for you: Althought you don't believe it, there's a way to play online with Super Smash Bross Melee. Just check it out with google or something. I heard that the equipment is only 50$. I saw videos too, really interesting. I didn't tried doing it because we have Wii and Nintendo Wi-Fi Conection in less time than we think happy.gif So it's and stupid think... better save that 50$ for another pad or game.

Because the PS2 and XBOX completely mutiated it while staying strong for a long time! Now XBOX 360 and soon the PS3, why waste money on games no one is going to play, because the new stuff is already coming out, just like no more creating PS1 games. Everyone has the new better stuff!

What does "mutiated" mean? Do you even proof read your posts before you hit that add reply button?

Only in DS sales, the gamecube isn't selling that well.

The Wii price is confirmed under $250, but no exact price has been confirmed. The PS3 costs $500 for the basic pack and $600 for the premium, similar to Xbox 360. The Wii will sell better due to the price.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lord_Agamemnon(MM) on 2006-07-16 at 22:54:28
I do think the Wii will sell better. What will the PS3 probably be? More of the same, but with better graphics and a ridiculous price tag. What is the XBOX 360? More of the same, but with better graphics and a ridiculous price tag. What will the Wii be? Something new.

But back to the topic of Gamecube, I don't think the Gamecube is quite dead yet. The games for it aren't quite the quality they used to be, but the same thing happened to the N64 when the Gamecube was about to be released. I do think, though, that the Gamecube is faring better than the original XBOX in terms of replayability. Gamecube has SSBM, Wind Waker, Eternal Darkness, Baten Kaitos, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Pikmin, etc., and XBOX has...Halo. And Halo 2. The Gamecube may be hobbling around with a walking stick, but it's not quite dead yet.

Why would you buy a Gamecube mere months before something better is going to be released? We could of made this topic about the PS2 and the XBOX. "Wow the PS2 isn't selling that well, I wonder why?!!?!"

Cube isn't dead if you have friends over a lot. I mean if you beat all the singleplayer games, I guess you'd be bored, but multiplayer games give it life.

You guys oughta try:

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Zelda: Four Swords
Pac-man Vs.
Capcom Vs. SNK 2
Soul Calibur 2

The 360's price isn't ridicioulous, just somewhat high. And not all people like the Wii, even if it's different.

Really, all that's left for the GC is Twilight Princess, which isn't even an exclusive.

I would totally buy a Game Cube when the Wii comes out. Especially for people who got the Xbox or the PS2 when they came out instead of Game Cube.

Plus there always could be someone who doesn't wanna pay for the new consoles, so they get the old one smile.gif.

and the price would go down.

Getting a bunch of friends over and playing ssbm is the best thing ever.

Or you could get a Wii since GC discs are compatible with Wii.

I don't know just saying, what if someone doesn't wanna pay 250 for a Wii? So they get a GC.

Well i don't like the game cube controllers. I also don't see any games coming out for it anyways. I still see people buying them for the games though. Such as super smash brothers. It will eventually fade more because of the new stations tongue.gif.

Wii was announced at under $250, the exact price hasn't been decided. So if it sells for $200, you can get a Wii instead of GC and then get both Wii and GC games.

Snipe, what's wrong with the controller? It fits into your hand perfectly, and you can easily access all the buttons.

Well, unless I misread this, it's 250. I could have easily misread though.
