QUOTE(Doodan @ Jul 31 2006, 03:44 AM)
Hearing discussion about this sort of topic makes me think of nature shows. During the younger years, the kids that show the most physical prowess become the dominant people in their particular groups of culture. Whereas during adult life, the more intelligent people become the dominant ones. It's all about dominance. Aggression and submission. You can look at just about any social model and see the dominant/submissive members. That sort of stuff fascinates me to no end.

So I'm saying don't worry about it. During the teen years, the pyhsically stronger people tend to get what they want more and use their strengths to force submission on others (due to relaxed laws and poorer control of primal urges). But when you reach adulthood, if you've remained steadfast on the "path of intelligence" you and others like you will emerge as the dominant ones.

I have physical prowess and mental prowess. I don't have many friends because I'm freakin' annoying tongue.gif

I concur. Some of the coolest kids at my school are very intellegent.

there is no discussion. A popular kid has never heard of 'sen' and no1 here, including me, is popular. This isnt even being humble, its common sense, we are all the geeks for being apart of a fansite for a game nw watch the reality u built urself fall apart.

Clans. I'm popular. I may not be preppy jock popular, but I've met hardly anyone who doesn't either know me or like me at my school in my grade.

There was actually this big thing at my school with people calling goths/emo kids dirty kids because they always left everywere a mess and stuff. People started making the DK patrol myspace groups and eventually 10 or 15 people got suspended and a few expelled.

people are always mistreated...i have an odd urge to kill people at my school because im teased on...sometimes i do not think expelling someone is enough

popular people do not care about anything else except their popular friends and themselves...somehow i think this will make geeks very successful in life

In my school, there are two kinds of people: idiots and smart kids. We smart kids just have to keep good company and ignore the lunatic ravings of the idiots.

I am one of the popular ones at my school, not the most popular but I am right up there with the best of them, My group of friends are the jocks that play like every sport and actually do stuff for our school, all the others are either geeks or goths that just wear black and white and cant even figure out what a sport is.  But some people that really know me think that I am a mix of a geek and a jock due to me playing starcraft 24/7, making websites, making starcraft games, and some other things I do on my computer.

I have none of this in my high school. There are no jocks because they would get their butt kicked. Also I dont think there are any geeks vs popular in my school too. Everybody minds their own buisness in my school

My old school, which was a catholic school (uniforms and prayers, the works) had significant heirarchy within the student body. I was sorta in the middle, caught in between the two sides. Wasn't quite popular, wasn't quite geeky. I knew a few "popular" kids, knew a bunch of "regulars" you might call it, and knew a few "geeks". This type of heirarchy disturbed me, never really enjoyed my stay at this school. Eventually I moved on to another school. A public school. Now, ladies and gentlemen, this school is just right. Everybody just "clicks". Everybody lives their lives in the building, coexisting with one another. There's groups of all types in this place, much more than you would see in the catholic school I attended. There's a few jokes here and there, but for someone to make a joke about someone, that person must have done or dress up or whatever dramatically to spark any real attention among the student body. Otherwise, everybody simply coincides with one another. It's neutral if not friendly. Which is a great learning evnironment to say the least!

Well, at my school there aren't really any jocks; there are just people and #@&% annoying people. The people just try to ignore the #@&% annoying people, who try to bug the regular people until the teachers catch them at it and punish them for being #@&% annoying. I guess you could say that most of us are geeks, at least in the higher grades. 7th and 8th graders (my high school starts at 7th grade) tend to be the #@&% annoying ones, and they're also pretty stupid. But most of that normally wears off by the time you get to 9th.

And if we didn't have geeks, there would be no competition on Starcraft, Diablo, etc. biggrin.gif . Joking of course. It's good that this world has people who use their heads for intelligent equations and calculations. If everybody had their lives intermingled with social activity, which is all they thought of in their teenage years, there would be a major setback in the community. Starting your academic success early is always a good thing. So what if you wear glasses, have acne, look so much lower than those "above" you.. you are going to run the world when you're older with those laughing at you working for you. I think everybody's who's graduated from highschool can safely say that the social activities in student bodies have absolutely no relevance to that of the outside world. Which again, is a good thing to think of if you're feeling "down" because of the whole "cool" and "not cool" fad inside schools nowadays.

Haha, you're a fool =)

Where I live, people don't often put others down to boost their own confidence. That's more on an American thing. The thought process here is "Why am I better?", not "Why is he worse?". When I see someone trying to to express their dominance by putting down the weakest dog in the pack, it comes off as rather pathetic to me. It's like bragging about being average.
