The geeks vs popular wars. Why are populars so fond of teasing geeks? I myself, am a lower - middle class (omg! im nearly geek-ified!) and i see populars teasing the geeks all the time. I hang out with geeks, more than populars (Hey, populars are rich so they give me free stuff 
) and i don't see why the populars are better. Why do i hang out with geeks more? They seem to be more polite, and most of them are funny. Post your thoughts!

My school really doesn't have much of a hierarchy where all the popular kids tease all the unpopular kids.

my school's split 50/50 with intellects and idiots and i dont see much teasing, although the idiots do tend to quarrel with themselves quite often

Guys, why do you devide peopel into "Popular" and "Geeks" ?
In my point of view (not knowing English fully), geeks are not always intelligent, and "popular" people are not always idiots. But if "geek" means "smart but not sociable" and "popular" means "sociable but not smart" you can PWN me at this point.

Hearing discussion about this sort of topic makes me think of nature shows. During the younger years, the kids that show the most physical prowess become the dominant people in their particular groups of culture. Whereas during adult life, the more intelligent people become the dominant ones. It's all about dominance. Aggression and submission. You can look at just about any social model and see the dominant/submissive members. That sort of stuff fascinates me to no end.
So I'm saying don't worry about it. During the teen years, the pyhsically stronger people tend to get what they want more and use their strengths to force submission on others (due to relaxed laws and poorer control of primal urges). But when you reach adulthood, if you've remained steadfast on the "path of intelligence" you and others like you will emerge as the dominant ones.

We don't have that kind of situations in our schools. Like the "populars" are more like friends who know each other and stuff, that includes me. And people who doesn't want to hang out with us, the unsocial people, just doesn't. Ok, we laught about them from time to time, but that because they are usually weird. I wouldn't call them geeks, more like freaks because I'm way more intelligent than they are.

Intelligence isn't a bad thing. Even popular people have alot of them. Not all the popular people are that stupid. I still don't think these "popular kids" are retarded. More over, I think the retarded kids are the ones who are self-centered, and the troublemakers.

I am one of the popular ones at my school, not the most popular but I am right up there with the best of them, My group of friends are the jocks that play like every sport and actually do stuff for our school, all the others are either geeks or goths that just wear black and white and cant even figure out what a sport is. But some people that really know me think that I am a mix of a geek and a jock due to me playing starcraft 24/7, making websites, making starcraft games, and some other things I do on my computer.

Where I come from, we make fun of 2 types of people:
a) Stupid people
b) Annoying people that we actually don't like.
And when dumb people try to make fun of smart people, its funny, because they try to call us stupid.
